(26:43) - I appreciate your words of encouragement Walking alone is not a strong enough stimulus for muscle or bone. Inactive postmenopausal women who walked with or without a vest for 18 months had no significant bone density changes (PMID: 22338922). Full breakdown below Even wearing a vest for 8 hours/day (PMID: 40540267) or 10 hours/day (PMID: 30095153) showed minimal skeletal benefit. The muscle and bone gains you see in the research? They’re mostly in untrained individuals doing loaded exercises like squats, lunges, and jumps with the vest (PMID: 10995045, 9467434, 17724395). In these cases, the vest is just a hands-free way to add weight — not magic. As people progress, they’ll need more load than a vest alone can provide. And for fat loss? Calorie burn from vest-walking is only ~10–15% higher than without it. That’s 30–50 kcal for an hour walk — about a single untracked bite of food. Long-term fat loss comes from managing intake, not chasing small increases in burn. Your diet is the real game changer. If you lift weights regularly, walk, and are mindful about food, a weighted vest probably isn’t a “must-have” for you. it’s most effective in the right context. Study Overview: Walking With vs. Without a Weighted Vest PMID: 22338922 Authors & Journal : Tantiwiboonchai N., Kritpet T., Yuktanandana P. in Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand , 2011 ( EurekaMag ). Participants : 48 working women aged 30–60, randomly split into two groups: one walking with a weighted vest, the other walking without, on a treadmill 3×/week for 12 weeks ( EurekaMag ). Protocol : Vest group started walking without it for the first 2 weeks, then began adding 2% of body weight weekly until reaching 8% by week 6 ( EurekaMag ). Findings Bone Markers : Both groups showed large decreases in bone resorption (β-CrossLaps)—~19.1% for the vest group vs. ~21.8% for the non-vest group— no significant difference between them ( EurekaMag ). Physical Fitness : Improvements in leg and arm strength, endurance, and VO₂ max were seen in both groups—again, no significant differences between vest vs. non-vest walkers ( EurekaMag ). Bottom Line—What This Means Walking, with or without a weighted vest, helped with fitness and reduced bone resorption—but wearing the vest didn’t offer any extra benefit . So if you’re thinking the vest is a cheat code for stronger bones or muscles… this study says otherwise.

Favorite tea HERE Inositol HERE Recipe for Raspberry Lemonade 1 ¾ cups all-natural zero calorie sweetener 8 cups water divided 1 cup raspberries fresh or frozen 1 ½ cups lemon juice about 8 lemons 1 lemon sliced optional- for garnish ¼ cup raspberries optional- for garnish Instructions In a small saucepan, combine all-natural zero calorie sweetener, raspberries and 1 cup of water. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve all-natural zero calorie sweetener. Cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled. Add the raspberry syrup to a blender and blend until smooth. Strain the raspberry mixture through a fine mesh strainer, and discard seeds and thick pulp. Squeeze all the lemons, and strain out any seeds and most of the pulp. In a large pitcher, stir together chilled raspberry syrup, fresh lemon juice and remaining 7 cups of water. To serve: Fill a large glass with ice, pour homemade raspberry lemonade over the ice and garnish with a lemon slice and a few raspberries. Nutrition Serving: 1 cup Calories: 9kcal

If you’re doing more than 8 sets per workout , chances are, your intensity is dropping , and you’re just going through the motions instead of pushing yourself to train hard. The typical narrative when it comes to phases is you need to either be building or cutting. The constant back and forth between a caloric deficient and a caloric surplus. I recently had a conversation with one of my clients that sparked this conversation and it has to do with this concept of a fixed vs a growth mindset specifically when it comes to fitness and health. We are all human. We all have messy days. Don't let them break your emotional health. I actually believe that people get caught in the cycle of bad nutritional days all the time because they don't allow themselves to embrace the freedom that can come from the messy day. Can someone who has been lifting weights for awhile still experience body recomposition? Can we sit around maintenance and put on muscle and shed down a little body fat at the same time? Over the past 3 years I have been blessed to learn biomechanics and program design and mentor from some of the best in the industry. I have felt that my programming and my abilities to push myself have really grown and increased. I wanted to see if I tracked all my data really well through a dexa if it was possible for me, as a trained individual, to be able to really put my programming and training skills to the test. Could I put on muscle and drop fat at the same time sitting closer to my maintenance calories. I started my journey with a DEXA scan from DEXABODY. After 8 weeks I did another DEXA to see how things were moving. My weight was staying the same, but I felt changes. Are these quality hypertrophy exercises though? Do they have a place in your training, and if so how?... It is very true that hitting our goals can be a bit easier when we have a support system around us, but if we really want something we are not going to hang everything on everyone around us understanding and supporting our every goal in life. I love testing out and trying new approaches and seeing how my body responds to different protocols. Last year I had some really good success with a full build approach (aka calorie surplus for an extended period). This year I want to see how my body will personally respond to a 3 month body-recomp approach (trying to get just a little bit of muscle, while losing a little bit of body fat at the same time). Although I do believe, and research has shown, that a trained lifter wont get as much muscle gains during a body recomp approach, and that it's a lot harder as your training age goes up, I want to test the waters and see how much I can and how my body personally will respond to this approach. As my knowledge of optimizing training, nutrition, and recovery has gone up, and as i've learned to work smart in the gym, i'm going to see if these things will help me edge out some more muscle gains during this next 3 month body-recomp approach. I know how it feels to feel your body is broken, feel frustrated and feel like everything is stacked against you and your goals.
