Finding your purpose goes hand in hand with melting your heart.💜 The built up armor, walls and layers of neutrality, sadness, grief, and protection. The longing for nurture and love not received when you needed it. The cries of your essence for not being seen and validated by others and then in time by you. The joy comes with the grief. The happiness comes with tears. The aliveness comes with allowing and surrendering to it all, no matter if it feels good or not. What resonated most with you and do you have further questions? Have you heard the Alex Warren song Ordinary? It's amazing and I think at the core, that is what and how you want to feel on day to day basis. This is what we think following our passion, finding our purpose, finding the right person, making money and all the rest of the things we desire will bring - is the feeling and experience of being taken out of the ordinary and the mundane and feeling in love with life! My experience has been and what I come back to over and over is that it's an inside job and I talk more about how you can go from the ordinary to the extraordinary work and life in this episode. If you've ever wondered why you seem to feel more deeply and have told yourself you need to toughen up and not let things and people get to you as easily on repeat, this conversation is for you! We're talking to Ellouise Heather about how it feels to be a highly sensitive child, need to fit in, picking an unaligned direction, chronic fatigue, finding the way thru and out, different ways of coaching, finding your life's purpose and so much more. As a Master Coach and natural-born energy worker who's been coaching highly sensitive women for a decade, Ellouise Heather's work is often described by clients as 'life-changing'. Also a qualified Holistic Weight Loss Expert, she's walked the conflicted path of battling with the bathroom scales herself, taming binge eating disorder and body dysmorphia, then releasing 45lbs and maintaining that for over 8 years to date. She now walks alongside those who desire a nurturing, high-touch approach to learning not only how to peacefully release the excess weight, but how to create a sustainable lifestyle of confident, ‘peace-full’ food choices instead of having to hate or punish their bodies. Did you know that your beautiful heart generates the strongest electromagentic field (EMF) in the body? It’s about 60x stronger than the one emitted by your brain and can extend up to 3 feet away from the body. Last week, Jackie who I was working with on my coaching offer, asked me "What do you mean by the term your own Essence"? And I wanted to explain it a little more in this solo episode since connecting with your own essence is a foundational aspect of my career reinvention mentorship program where I guide you to find work that makes you come alive and gives you energy. As trait as it sounds, the answers are within you, they are just covered up by conditioning, disappointments and demands and circumstances of life. An example of your essence is the knowing that you have deep inside of you, a resonance you feel when something is or isn't right for you. I was also encouraged that my latest interview guest David Marlow spoke about our essence - I felt a spark light up that people get it and know what it means, because it's kind of hard to describe it. L isten to the full interview with David on how to find your Ikigai & purpose here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/career-in-technicolor-create-work-and-life-you-fall/id1584835608?i=1000732638722 Your essence is that driving force that keeps speaking to you thru your intuition. I’m so excited about diving into this conversation with the Ikigai Guy, David Marlow about what is Ikigai and how to find your own! David Marlow knows what it's like to have everything on paper and still feel lost—having spent decades climbing the Fortune 500 ladder before a dream asked him: "What would you do if you were done?" That question launched a two-decade journey to discover Ikigai, the Japanese concept of living your purpose in harmony with whatever you do. Now, as "The Ikigai Guy," David helps people break free from groundhog-day careers and piece together their own unique dream job puzzle through his book The Ikigai Way , where he shares the frameworks, stories, and practices that transformed his life from corporate executive to purpose-driven coach, writer, and champion of living with intention. You've built a beautiful life on paper but know there's something deeper calling you forward. I woke up at 5 AM with ideas flowing, and realized I needed to share an idea that's been crystallizing for me - the one ingredient for building aligned work that we often skip in our rush to "figure it all out." You'll hear about: The honest moment when I realized I was pouring my best self into work and had little left for what mattered How being physically present but emotionally absent became my wake-up call Why tending to your energy comes before any career exploration or purpose-finding exercises Why creating meaningful work requires the kind of energy that flows from being deeply nourished The simple foundations that actually restores you: quality rest, sunlight, movement that feels good How I found Qigong when my body was asking for gentleness, not an intense workout Why building work you love is beautifully non-linear and requires sustained inner resources How my business pivot taught me that each iteration demands fresh creative energy The truth about manifestation that nobody mentions: it takes life force to bring dreams into reality The heart of it: Your dreams deserve to be built from a place of fullness. When you're running on empty, you can't access the intuition, creativity, and courage that your calling requires. This isn't about perfecting yourself before you go for your dreams. It's about honoring yourself enough to fill up your own cup. This is a must have if you’re looking to design work on your own terms that’s energy giving to you! Writer Sherianna Boyle said it brilliantly-It takes energy to manifest Here is a link to interview with Sherianna: Listen Here What is one thing you and your body need to increase your energy level? In today’s diary episode: I’m sharing more inside scoop on my own story, starting with the updates that have happened over the last couple of months, my personal experience of how Tai Chi came into my life, what in the world is it and what has been my experience & why behind it? How layoffs might be challenging us to pivot in the short or long term, only time will tell. Uncertainty and messiness of potential transition. The huge fears that come up sharing different parts of what I’m learning and doing outside of my past corporate role in Recruiting and how I gain clarity step by step, moment by moment, moving away from asking for external input, validation, advice and making the moves. I think that overthinking, analysis and questioning comes from not knowing how it’ll all work out, all I can do is put one foot in front of the other and that’s how we walk thru the door:) Here is the Linkedin post I mentioned😅: See the post What do you think, what resonated most with you? Are you in the season of pushing through or creating more spaciousness and moments of doing nothing? It’s definitely not a one size fits all approach or answer of what's the right way. What are you needing and craving most this moment, today, this month or this season you’re in? There are a ton of experts doubling down on one or the other, but the truth is, it’s so individual and it varies. What is your body, heart and soul longing for right now? Have you checked in with the most important authority aka yourself? If not, I invite you to take a moment right now -how do you feel, what do you need, what season are you in? There are times where we can flow from slow to fast throughout the day easily and naturally, it doesn’t have to be all or nothing or one or the other. Sometimes getting a to do done and off your physical and mental list, and creates more space and freedom and ease a few moments later. I believe it’s really important for us to create moments of spaciousness in our days, it could be in the mornings, evenings or whatever works best for you. Slower mornings have felt really good and supportive to me this summer. I’m also a big believer in needing to slow down, especially for introverts. Introverts naturally need more rest, slowing down and recharging. I’d love to hear from you - what season are you in right now, what do you most need today, this week and this month? Today we're talking to Hitesh Seth, Chief Architect for Financial Services & Insurance at Salesforce, and what struck me most is how he radiates genuine enthusiasm for what he does. After 25+ years in tech, he has so much fire and passion - and in this conversation, he shares how he keeps it going. Hitesh's story offers a completely different way to think about career growth and finding work that energizes rather than depletes you. You'll hear about: The mindset shift that changed everything: How he discovered that teaching others was actually the most selfish thing he could do Why he never feels bored at work: His approach to creating excitement and challenge within any role The power of following your curiosity: How staying genuinely interested in learning has been his career compass How to know when it's time to move on: His rule about leaving when you want to accelerate your learning in new areas Why passion beats planning: How his most meaningful career moves came from following what energized him, not following a prescribed path The "bug" you need to cultivate: That relentless drive to solve problems that keeps you up at night (in the best way) Building expertise while staying fresh: How to become deeply skilled without getting stuck in one narrow area The thread that weaves throughout this conversation Hitesh's infectious passion for learning and problem-solving. You'll hear someone who has figured out how to stay genuinely excited about work by constantly growing, teaching others, and focusing on solving real problems that matter. About Hitesh Hitesh Seth is Chief Architect for Financial Services & Insurance at Salesforce, where he works with key customers globally on Data & AI/GenAI solutions. Hitesh also works closely with Salesforce Ventures teams for investing, acquisition and integration of startups/Fintechs. His career spans leadership roles at JPMorgan Chase, American Express, and IQVIA. He graduated from IIT Kanpur, is a patent holder, published author, and passionate mentor. From his early days discovering a computer in a small shop in India to leading cutting-edge technology architecture today, Hitesh exemplifies how curiosity and passion can lead to a fulfilling and thriving career. What this means for you If you're feeling stuck, Hitesh's story shows that it's possible to build a career where you wake up excited about the challenges ahead. The key isn't finding the perfect job - it's cultivating the right mindset about learning, growth, and contribution. What resonated most with you from this conversation? Happy Friday Gorgeous! Today I wanted to share a 6 minute restorative visualization meditation to create a moment of calm, harmony, and regeneration for you! This is for you if you're feeling a level of stress, overwhelm, or some tiredness that comes from giving your energy to work and others around you. Sometimes you just need to pause and intentionally restore your own reserves and energy. In this guided meditation, you'll visualize a beautiful, luscious green light pouring over and through your entire being - from the crown of your head down to your feet. This healing light regenerates your mind, releases tension from your body, and strengthens your energy field while bringing back your own beautiful energy. What I love about this practice is that once you experience it, you can access this restorative light anytime - while you're in your car (don’t close your eyes while driving;), having your morning coffee, or even during your workday. It's a tool you can carry with you wherever you go. Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down, close your eyes, and let's create some space for renewal together. What helps you restore your energy when you're feeling depleted? I'd love to hear from you - DM me on IG www.instagram.com/careerintechnicolor If this meditation served you, please share it with someone who might need this moment of calm today. My Own Career Change Story and the Messy Middle. Today I want to share more of the behind the scenes, where I am at with my own career and the messy middle of it. In my 20s, I used to think once I have 10+ years of experience in something, then I will have made it. Can you relate? I thought, once I have 10 years of experience in a field on my resume, I will be legitimate, I’ll be an expert, I will feel settled, established, and secure. But it’s interesting how life doesn’t alway work this way! And that it’s much closer to being and feeling like an ongoing process of reestablishing and reinvention of yourself vs reaching a finish line of sorts. Perhaps some people feel that way or at least from the outside it might seem like that, but it’s probably not the true way they feel on the inside either. Perhaps the ones who are closer to retirement might feel like now they have reached that state of completion, but I bet even they feel like they’re still in the process. I think the appearance of having it figured out is a deceptive one, but the idea is still alluring and attractive. Something that as I think about it is most likely a seducing idea or aspiration, and not necessarily reality. It’s similar to longing for the moment when you’ll be able to put your feet up on the ottoman by your couch and watch a movie or simply do nothing because you’ve cleaned the house and everything else is done. But those moments rarely arrive and even when they do , they are short! And my mind is constantly telling me that more needs to be done, the next thing needs to be taken care of and tended to, planned, etc. It’s like this never ending motor, push and need to do more. Can you relate?:) So back to the podcast about my own story and the messy middle that I feel like I’m in right now. Right in the smack dab middle of it and that is one of the reasons why I’ve shied away from sharing too much about it. Because I don’t have a perfectly laid out script and I don’t know how it all will come together, and that feels vulnerable and uncomfortable. It would be much easier to wait till it’s perfectly packaged with a happy ending that I can share. You’ll hear about the recruitment career that I started in my twenties and I built over the next 15 years in a seemingly up and up trajectory, and how it came to a halt. You’ll hear about the overwhelm, stress, and longings I had along the way, how I started taking steps to explore my interests, personality and strengths further to inform and find my own puzzle pieces so I can take my own advice and the advice of the podcast guests to keep architecting work and life that is energizing to me, that is mine. Not someone else’s but mine. And I will say it isn’t for the faint of heart and it isn’t easy. At least not in my experience. You’ll hear about my journey to podcasting, coaching and also how I arrived at learning more about and getting certified to teach Tai Chi. So seemingly unrelated pieces, but they each have their own meaning and bring aspects of tremendous fulfillment as well as development for me. They align with my core values, incorporate my passions and interests, are deeply self motivating and satisfy my own hunger and yearning for more meaning, satisfaction, connection, knowledge, and health. Each of these aspects have come into being in their own magical way, hence I wanted to share the story. Even though I don’t know how it’ll all come together at the end, I definitely know that I’ve discovered parts that I’ll keep as I continue to build my own career and life in technicolor. I know that I've gone for things I felt curiosity and desire to explore and that I’ll keep chasing my own purpose and further answers. How about you? Where are you in your work and career journey, what is weighing on your mind right now that you’d l Support the show

I want to do some episodes sharing prompts and exercises that can help unlock your purpose and aligned work. Finding your aligned work is totally like putting together a puzzle, it comes together piece by piece, and you might be on one of your last pieces or smack dab in the middle of your own dream job puzzle. No matter where you are today, you never know if it could be this one next exercise that gives you the next level of awareness, clarity, and answers. Today’s prompts will help you clarify your most current, up to date values. I bet you’re thinking- I already know my values. I invite you to go through these exercises to get your most up to date answers, especially if you’re still searching for your purpose. With these prompts, let’s get to your top 5-10 values from various professional situations and beyond, you’ll draw from the good experiences and the bad, people you look up to, and past or even future regrets. At the end, I’ll walk you through questions to get clear on your ranking. This will become a key clarifying mechanism when evaluating opportunities and pivots in the future! Share with me what top values came thru for you, which question worked best for you, what new insight or clarity did you gain? How did these prompts work for you? Somewhere between work, caretaking, and just trying to make it through the week without losing your mind, friendship starts to feel... complicated, or like another to do? Not because we don’t want connection — but because life is loud, we’re overwhelmed or tired or trying to make it through the day. And do you feel like there's a constant time deficit? This is an episode that is more like a journal entry where I share some of my latest life outtakes and friendship moments, how a soul-nourishing weekend with a long time friend reminded me of what really matters — and how sharing our mess can bring us even closer. Vulnerability can feel scary, awkward, but also wildly freeing. I also open up about navigating anxiety, burnout, and that dreaded “time scarcity” that seems to hit especially hard after 40. And if you’re also feeling off physically — low energy or just not yourself — I mention my amazing friend and health coach, Olya Clark , who helped me customize a plan to support my hormones and minerals and lifestyle. Seriously, she's a godsend. Connect with her at www.olyaclark.com You’re not alone. Promise. Xo,Baiba Support the show

This is an episode for you if you’ve been laid off or are feeling stuck and want work that feels more aligned and on purpose for you! This is an invitation to rethink and reimagine what other possibilities can exist for you. We all come to a point in our career where we either are forced to or deeply desire to reinvent our career and it takes a lot of courage to ask the questions, look deeper, and dig for new direction options and answers. No story is the same and it’s hard when no one can give you an exact ready made answer. The steps you’ll hear shared in this episode are designed to get you closer to your unique answers, the key will be devoting a little bit of time and attention to go through them. So let’s go, here’s a plan broken down into days: Day 1 Design a vision for your future work and career. Just like companies devote the time to craft their future vision and future of work projects, do it for yourself! Day 2 Think about and write down everything you devote your free time to, what topics do you watch YouTube, TikTok or IG videos and posts about, what do you research online, what do you read books about, what do you do in your free time, what do you talk to your friends about, everything counts and nothing is too silly to make the list. Day 3 Write down what your ideal work day/week looks like. Where do you want to work, with who, what hours, who are your clients, wake up to sleep - what are you doing? Day 4 What do you know you no longer care to do? What do you want to rebel against? What do you actually DO want to do? Day 5 Ask 3-5 people who know you well - close friends, people who have been mentors or have worked with you in a meaningful capacity. What do they think are your strengths, what would they come to you for, what do they see as a good work option for you? Sometimes we’re just too close to see it clearly ourselves. Listen to the interview with Ryan Kelly https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/career-in-technicolor/id1584835608?i=1000701718377 Day 6 Get clear on your natural strengths, what are the strongest functions of how your mind naturally sees, engages with, and interacts with the world, the day to day events, information and people. What are your strongest filters of how you wake up and see the world? Here’s a past episode example of select personality aspect and strength analysis: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/career-in-technicolor/id1584835608?i=1000697628198 I’d love to hear what new insights and AHAs came through after going through these questions? This is a mini story reflecting on my friend's visit, the choices and priorities that come up, "mess up" our schedule and force us to stay agile and adaptable instead of rigid. This isn't specific advice, just something that forced me to play in the messiness of my own feelings if anxiety, to do's, values and made me see real time how I can be both in the state of my mind running a long to do list and feeling unsettled while connecting to the deeper stillness within. It reminded me of a beautiful saying from a past guest Lunaria Gaia "There's a part of us deep within us that is still and unperturbed by what's happening on the surface". Today we’re talking to business coach Brenda Rigney and her journey to helping women start their own businesses! You'll hear about balancing work, parenthood, transitioning from 9-5 to building your own biz, following someone else's career recipe and checklist, setting boundaries, being a leader, mother, getting clear on your own vision, values, your goals and responsibilities, feeling good about yourself, getting aligned in all areas of your life , burn out, questioning everything, what it really takes to self actualize, and so much more! H ere’s a quick snapshot of Brenda's story! “It took me 27 years of developing multi-million-dollar brands and CEOs—and one earth-shaking divorce—to finally go down that road. I had to reset everything—starting with my health, that foreign word “boundaries,” and my vision for my own life—if I wanted to build a business that wasn’t just a repeat of the misaligned life I was so desperate to leave behind. Since then, I’ve coached hundreds of successful women in their 40s, 50s, and older to help them do the same. Because the thing I'm 100% sure about is that the world needs way more successful, innovative, and unstoppable women in business. I now work with midlife women business owners and emerging entrepreneurs to help them bring in $10K+ months doing what they love in one-to-one and group coaching experiences, and in my Aligned AF Community Membership." Today you’ll hear from Vicki Campos-Dimmer about her career in Change Management. Her transition into change management came at a critical juncture in her career. Coming off a recent downsizing of her department, as part of an organizational restructuring, Vicki did a deep dive into her desire and career aspirations to remain in the communication profession. She was very interested in expanding her skillset and had recently explored project management as a potential profession. In researching other potential career paths for someone with her background, she happened to discover change management. While exploring different career options that align with her background, she stumbled upon change management. The mix of communication, instructional design, training, and project management caught her eye. She saw it as a chance to use her 15+years of experience and at the same time, learn new things and grow in a direction she had never tried before. This unique combo gave Vicki the ability to use her skills and improve herself personally and professionally. One of the most significant factors in her successful transition to change management was working with a career coach. A career coach is much more than a resume writer, they can provide invaluable guidance to help identify your strengths and weaknesses, develop a career plan, and navigate the job search process. They also provided emotional support and accountability during many challenging times through the job search process and career transition. For anyone considering a career change, Vicki encourages you to consider working with a career coach. They can help you define your career goals, develop a strategy for achieving them, and overcome the obstacles that may arise along the way. With the right support, you can successfully transition to a new and rewarding career in change management. Vicki has been a change management consultant for the past 7 years and worked with many clients across various industries, helping them navigate organizational changes such as mergers, acquisitions, and technological transformations. She learned the importance of understanding stakeholders’ needs, effectively communicating change initiatives, managing resistance to change, and building a culture of transparency, open communication, and adaptability. For newcomers interested in pursuing a career in change management, Vicki highly recommends seeking out helpful resources and exploring the certification program that best fits your needs. The Prosci Change Practitioner certification is one of the most well-recognized. However, there are others that can also help you demonstrate your commitment to the field. She highly suggests you check out organizations like the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) and Change Management Institute for networking opportunities and access to professional development resources. If you are interested in connecting with Vicki, please send a request via LinkedIn and include a message, her LinkedIn profile is: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vcamposdimmer Resources Prosci is one of the most recognized change management methodologies. It uses a proven, people-focused change management approach to help guide organizations through their transformation initiatives. Today we're talking to Tosca Fasso. Tosca is a former Fortune 100 executive who worked her way up the corporate ladder from administrative assistant to Wall Street executive. When she got her first management role at age 25, Tosca knew that creating a vision with a team, coaching them to succeed, and building a culture where team members actually liked and respected each other was her life’s work. Unfortunately, as she advanced in her career, she realized that she wasn't always able to do what was right for her team and that corporate policies are often hostile to employees. So, Tosca left her Wall Street position to launch Manager on a Mission, a management movement based on trust and empowerment instead of fear and intimidation. She now coaches people-focused leaders who know there’s a better way to manage teams but need just a little support to build the systems that are both good for people as well as profits. She is also the author of Not Safe For Work: A good manager's guide to better feeling work in a toxic culture. Tosca hosts the Manager on a Mission podcast and is also a volunteer career mentor, competitive karaoke champion, and intermediate adult figure skater. She lives in the Los Angeles area with her woodworker husband, two rescue Chihuahuas, and three parrots. From going to school for design and architecture to becoming a nurse for emergency evacuation helicopters, Misty has listened and followed her guidance and has had a motor driving her to do things, to change things and along the way she’s participated in mission trips, has learned snorkeling and rock climbing. You’ll love this sweet and open conversation where she shares her journey of change, growth and how life and god led her, opened some doors and closed others. It’s so interesting that her high school guidance counselor said she’d be a good nurse and at the time she rejected the idea, and ended up pursuing nursing 10 years later. Misty’s vulnerability, positive and giving attitude will leave you feeling inspired about the possibilities in your work and life. What is it that you want to manifest next, what do you wish to bring into your reality? More synchronicities, ease, inspiration, creativity, money, love, health? When you want something with all your heart, that's when you're closest to the soul of the world. It's always a positive force. -The Alchemist Have you set 2024 Goals? If not, that's completely fine and I think end of Jan and Feb is a perfect time to craft your intentions of what you want to create and manifest. Let's talk about where the alchemy and transformation of your career and work really happen - your heart and soul! In this episode I'm sharing a little bit about the author of the book "The Alchemist" Paulo Coelho and how the book that has become one of the greatest books of all time, was not selling and was dropped by the original publisher after the 1st year of dismal results. Paulo was 41 and desperate. He attributes the eventual and now continued success of the book to his heart and soul being in it. Read "The Alchemist" with me! What is your Soul's work? I'm sharing 2 questions to help you design your way to your Soul's and Life's work. If you enjoyed this episode, share it with someone you know can benefit from some inspiration and a reminder that "people are capable at any time in their lives of doing what they dream of." How are you feeling in between the holidays and in these last few days leading up to 2024? I invite you to take this week to make more space for you. And I know, your mind might have objections right away that it's not possible, that you'll lose out on this and miss out on that and how it's a waste of time. In today’s episode we’re talking with Celia Louise, a meditation, energy and breathwork coach. We’re talking about the power of your heart and how this can serve as a beautiful runway helping you connect to the career and life of your dreams. If you think about it, to fall in love, you have to open your heart, and it’s the same with your career -to call in something new, something better, something different in your career, you need to melt the blocks and walls you have put up to guard and protect yourself, to survive, but it also can keep you stuck in the sameness and familiar day to day that you want to break through and transform! Your heart is what connects you to your own guidance, intuition and higher self. We also talk about how to really fall in love with yourself and it starts with your heart, the home where your soul resides. Getting to know yourself at a deeper and more profound level, seeing yourself and connecting with all parts of yourself, your wisdom and experience through not only your mind, but body and heart and accepting and embracing the entirety of you and your experience. And then we go into a heart opening meditation that you can come back to day after day to keep melting any walls you may have built up, and inviting your heart and intuition to participate in drawing in and magnetizing the next level of career experience that your mind alone can’t fully see and imagine. Bask in this love and light energy and this is a perfect exercise to do before reimagining your career and crafting your career vision. This brief centering meditation is step #1 in attuning to and developing a deeper connection with YOU and your own internal guidance system, your inner voice. Your inner guidance system is not only your beautiful and very capable mind, but also includes the wisdom of your heart and body, the feelings and sensations you experience. This practice will allow you to strengthen your connection and attunement to your heart and body as powerful tools to move towards your authentic dreams and goals more powerfully. Write down what you felt and connected with, this further sharpens and enhances your connection to your inner voice. Your heart and body are parts of powerful intelligence system that many of us have been disconnected from. According to the HeartMath Institute, your heart can sense events before they occur and sends a signal to the brain. So let's go beyond our capable brains that love to solve problems, and use our heart and body to come back to our powerful guidance. Also, did you know that Oprah attributes her success to listening and paying attention to the little voice inside of her early on? I know it's so easy and tempting to skip over this to all the sophisticated tools that the external world offer us, however by doing that, we're overlooking the most powerful and sophisticated tools that we have at our fingertips and we don't need to go anywhere or buy anything to access them. I love this question that Heather shared- Is what you’re doing right now going to get you where you want to go? You’ll love this deeply candid and vulnerable conversation with Heather Fischetti. She began her journey in teaching and quickly realized that there is something better for her out there. She decided to start transitioning her career from teacher of special needs students, to teacher of finance and now she provides individuals, families, and businesses with a peace of mind for their financial future by providing education and literacy in key essential financial concepts, and then strategically planning to get them from where they are to where they want to be. She also shows people that they can take ownership of their time and income, and build a life outside of the burn out - supplementing their income to transition into a world that is vastly different. If you’re desiring something more in your career and life, more happiness, more freedom, opportunity to earn more, you’ll walk away with practical questions and steps you can apply to your own situation right away. We’re talking soul searching, authenticity, childhood dreams, introspection, being steadfast in what you believe, knowing yourself and figuring out what’s true for you, getting rid of distractions, experiencing life and many things in between! This is a mini episode intended to add some spark and magic to your day. No matter how you woke up feeling today and what you're going through, I want you to notice that there's magic happening all around you, daily. Some of it you you like, some of it you don't, and the latter you may only appreciate later on, when the thing you desire so falls into place and materializes in your reality. Some of the daily magic you notice and some you don't, but no matter you're going through and how you woke up feeling this morning, I invite you to open up your mind and heart to the magic that is taking place all around you. In this episode I invite you to do a short practice to integrate this in your state of being so you can connect with it not only as an idea but also feel it in this moment. As we had to remove the heart opening meditation episode due to sound issues, I felt compelled to replace it with another episode focused on 2 practices you can use when experiencing and processing feelings and emotions that come with realizing when your job is no longer aligned with where you want to be, how you want to feel during your workdays and what you want to give your life energy to. And how not to let these “negative” emotions such as frustration, fear, overwhelm, anger, sadness, even grief get stuck in your body and energy but to let them come up to surface and release them. These practices are simple and super accessible, but so many days we end up overlooking the emotions, stuffing them down because we're busy, we have to have our act together, so we move on, but in a way this is how we desensitize ourselves from our inner guidance and signs your body is giving you when things are no longer aligned with and for you. This applies to everyday job situations, so don't wait for something massive to happen to do this. Processing these feelings and releasing them will help clear your connection to your intuition and let you have sharper guidance and clarity for your future direction and choices. I’m excited to be bringing you conversation with Erika De Pellegrin. Erika is a lawyer and a podcast host, she loves a good challenge – and her day-to-day is no exception. Her podcast “The Balance Theory” partly originated from her often wondering what were the tools that would help to navigate a busy schedule and live a rich and meaningful life in the process. And the traditional concept of work-life-balance just didn’t make sense for us modern women. Work is a part of our lives, and our lives are so much more than just ‘not work’. Erika felt like nobody was speaking our language and decided to set that straight. She started The Balance Theory podcast as a platform to start the conversation around finding this sense of balance in the topics and areas that matter to the modern woman: mindset, female health, career, growth, and self awareness. So if you’re looking for practical and personal tools as well as insights to help find your unique balance; tune into The Balance Theory podcast hosted by Erika. Erika is an amazing communicator and her story of getting a law degree, being a lawyer and eventually starting a podcast to fuel her passion will inspire you to evaluate the possibilities and take steps towards creating work that is deeply aligned with you, your strengths and what you’re looking to create. She is also brilliant in having you rethink your own approach to balance even if you feel like you’ve heard and tried many tips and strategies about finding the right balance, Erika might have you rethink and tweak your approach to finding and establishing balance that truly fits you and the life you’re creating. We’re talking feelings of dissatisfaction, burn out, guilt and how you can find a way to achieve your goals without sacrificing other areas of your life. One of the reasons why you might be feeling stuck or unsure of what next step to take, or if you should take any as your mind serves up all the good reasons why to remain exactly where you are and not rock the boat could be that you're lacking an inspiring and compelling career vision. Think about it, every company and famous leader has a vision, shouldn't you? Especially if you want to steer your career instead of just drifting and going where everyone else wants you to go to support their needs and desires Apple's vision is " We believe that we are on the face of the earth to make great products, and that's not changing." Nordstrom's vision is "To give customers the most compelling shopping experience possible." Shouldn't you have one? There is a great saying by Tony Gaskins "If you don't build your dream someone else will hire you to help build theirs." So I invite you dream up your career vision, what will be the key elements of it, what do you imagine, how do you feel and how does it integrate with your life, how does it become a part of your dream life? I'd love to hear what is your career vision and if you had any new AHA moments whole answering the questions? DM me on www.instagram.com/createyourbestcareer , I'd love to hear from you! Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to love what you do, if it’s possible to feel fulfilled and fully alive about your career or are you destined to the mundane feeling days and weeks filled with feeling like it’s another day where you’re going through the motions, attending to and doing what you have to, looking forward to the segments of day where you can do what you truly want to in the evenings, weekends and vacations? Over the years I too have struggled with going in and out of believing if it’s truly possible to have a job and career where you feel excited and energized instead of dreading and suffering through the workdays. Am I just a naive dreamer or can I truly create and have it? I saw my mom working long hours, very hard, not really having any time for herself, sacrificing for her children, sacrificing her health, and at the end not earning very much money and I always wished she had an easier life. The idea about you being able to custom design your own career and day to day, like a designer or an architect came through my own journey, especially times where I felt like my own career life was feeling blah, like I was going through motions and it was feeling like I was living in black and white movie instead of a vibrant, technicolor world that my heart and soul so longed for. This is what sparked the idea to share the practices and ideas that I found most useful and transformational so you can try and apply some of them to infuse more spark in your day to day and end up custom designing your way towards looking forward to Mondays! We spend estimated 2000 hours every year (maybe a little more or less depending on how many hours a week you work), a third of your time from the 24 hours you’re given every day, and realistically , close to half or more than half of you waking hours 5 days a week working! So how can you make them more aligned with what your heart and soul are desiring to do and feel like to fully express your gifts and talents and shine your light? And it doesn’t have to be perfect, but when you do, you’re serving as a powerful example, a powerful role model for other women around you and most importantly I believe your children to show what’s possible. It’s not necessarily what you say, what school teaches or the question “Who do you want to be when you grow up” that will teach them what’s possible, it’ll be the way you live, what they observe, the energy you bring and what you model on day to day basis that they will absorb and soak up the most. This is what helps me in days where showing up for myself isn’t enough and I need a more powerful motivator. When I think about this impacting my child and family members, other girls and women, it’s like having that extra motivation, extra kick that I need to keep going and keep breaking out some of the human and my own aspects of conditioning, limited beliefs and fears! Every career journey is as unique as a fingerprint, so anything really is possible and I want you to feel empowered in custom designing your own career and success on your terms while getting to know you better through the prompts and exercises I'll share in this season's mini episodes. What I’ve found is that at the essence of being able to create a life of your dreams you have to believe it’s possible, so let’s go and dream it up! Are you considering applying for a new job or know someone who is? In this episode Tiffany Flowers who brings over 20 years of working with candidates and hiring leaders shares how to build a powerful resume top to bottom! You don't want to miss these top resume tips. No more old fashioned format! Tiffany knows what works, what recruiters, and hiring leaders look for and what grabs their attention. Implement these to land more interviews and offers to choose from! 1. Have a core resume that you’ll customize based on the job you’re applying to! 2. Mirror each job description, update and move things around to closely resemble the job you’re applying to. Focus on where there is overlap. You want to zero in on and highlight experiences, skills and accomplishments that will resonate with the hiring manager, the recruiter and HR. 3. Lead with what’s relevant! Do not include everything you’ve done over your career 4. Don’t forget to also focus on what you want to do next, transferable skills and relevant accomplishments. Before adding an experience or achievement to your resume, ask yourself, even though I’ve done it and am good at it - is this something I want to keep doing going forward? Remove things you no longer care to keep doing! 5. If you have over 7 years of professional experience - leave out summer, college and high school jobs. 6. Stick to 2 pages max unless you’re a researcher and/or have citations, publications, anything that’s a must for you to convey. 7. Keep formatting simple - Calibri or Times New Roman, black and white, without fancy graphics or formatting because a) you don’t want to make the recruiter or hiring manager think too hard where to find the relevant info and how to make sense of your format. The statistic is that your resume will get 6 seconds or so before a decision is made if you go into a yes or no pile; b)unique formatting can confuse the applicant database matching and scoring mechanisms Remember - if the reader is confused, they will move on 8. Start your resume with a Branding Header, Branding Statement, and Core Capabilities. No more objective, summary and the other old fashioned structure. 9. Start your experience with the current or most recent employer and position(s), one sentence description of your role and 8-10 bullet points. And then work backwards with subsequent experiences taking up 4-5 bullets or less for each. 10. Remember the first 3/4 of your first page is the most expensive real estate, make sure this area conveys the most relevant information, grabs the readers attention and keeps them hooked! 11. Eliminate listing duplicate responsibilities for each of your jobs - for the most part mentioning it once-ideally in your current work experience if it’s relevant is enough. If you do have specific tool or program experience, you can list it a couple of times to bump up your resume with employers automated resume screen and matching mechanisms. 12. Education comes after work experience section, plus add any awards and certifications as relevant. 13.Add volunteer experiences and in most cases stay away from hobbies and interests unless there’s a good reason to include those.
