In Part 3 of the Meat Loaf story , we explore the turbulent years and meteoric comeback between Dead Ringer and Bat Out of Hell II . As Meat Loaf’s partnership with Jim Steinman collapses once again after Dead Ringer fails to live up to expectation and Steinman is released from his recording contract. As Steinman finds new found success penning massive hits for other artists like Bonnie Tyler with Total Eclipse of the Heart and Air Supply with Making Love Out of Nothing at All. While Steinman thrived, Meat Loaf was left to go it alone, as he struggled to write his own material while facing mounting pressures from his record label, his managers, and even Steinman himself as he would be hit with a wave of lawsuits that ultimately drove him to bankruptcy. Forced to retreat from the lime light, Meat turned his focus to his family by coaching his daughters Little League team before reuniting with Steinman for an incredible comeback that no one saw coming. As Meat earned himself a Grammy with I’d Do Anything for Love (But I Won’t Do That) , cementing his place in rock history as an all time great as Meat finds himself in a great place towards the mid 90's and gears up for the final act of his remarkable journey, set to be explored in the final part of the Meat Loaf story. In this episode, we trace the whirlwind rise that led to physical collapse, creative clashes, and personal turning points. From losing his voice to butting heads with his creative partner Jim Steinman, the pressure would become all too much for Meat as cracks began to show on and off the stage before he eventually walked away from the limelight. But amid all of the chaos, he found love, became a father, and watched on from the side-lines as Jim launched his own solo album. As the talented vocalist eventually kickstarted his career as a solo act scoring 2 major hits including "Sign Your Name" and "Wishing Well" and taking home a Grammy award for his debut album titled "Introducing the Hardline". Only for his out of control ego and his failing 2nd studio album to send him on a path of self destruction as Terence would go through a transformational spiritual awakening to discover his true higher self, where he would then be known as Sananda Maitreya. In this episode I bring you the 1st of a multiple part episode featuring the modern day king of controversy, Eminem. In what is arguably the most intense and crazy story covered on the podcast so far. We venture into the tormented upbringing of Marshall Mathers as he battles violent and severe bullying that would almost cost him his life, abandonment at the hands of his father, the loss of his beloved Uncle Ronnie, the friendships he formed along the way with his D-12 crew and his hype man Proof, the birth of his daughter Hailie, Eminem's early battle with alcohol and drugs and the toxic relationships with his mother Debbie and wife Kim that would constantly weigh him down. But through all the pain, disapproval and hard work we follow Eminem's journey as he faces adversity being a white man in an African American dominated genre through the tough and dangerous underground rap battle scene of Detroit where Eminem through his incredible persistence to make it as a hip hop artist, earns himself a recording contract with legendary musician and producer Dr. Dre and his label Aftermath Entertainment. This is one hell of an episode, so strap yourselves in and enjoy. **WARNING** The following episode contains serious adult themes such as Sexual References, Violence, Suicide, Self Harm and Drug References. You may remember him as the "singer who already blew his shot". But this is one story that you just can't miss. In this incredible episode we go on an inspiring journey through the life so far of Mike Posner from his early days raised in Detroit to his first major shot at fame with the hit song Cooler Than Me only for his hopes and dreams to be shattered after losing his desire for stardom, battling his own inner demons and a lack of follow up success. We take a look at how Mike's life and career unraveled as he is shelved by his label, he offloads songs which become hits with the likes of Maroon 5 and Justin Bieber and he loses loved one's along the way, inspiring him to search for meaning in life outside of music as he treks across America from coast to coast, has a second chance in the industry through the song "I Took A Pill In Ibiza", he performs free "ninja shows" for his fans and does the unthinkable, climbs to the summit of Mt Everest all of which would totally change the man he is today and provide him with the life experience's to become an all round better songwriter, musician and human being. This week we explore the journey so far of rising Australian pop star Toni Watson aka Tones And I. We follow Tones beginnings in the Mornington Peninsula, before she took the leap from her average day job in retail to chase her dream of busking on the streets of Melbourne and Byron Bay. We explore Tones first taste of success with the track Johnny Run Away and the moment the song Dance Monkey catapulted her into the spotlight around the world, breaking many records along the way. But it wouldn’t all be easy for Tones as she would face many obstacles including bullying via social media over her style of music, voice and appearance and the sudden realisation that she has a monster task of overcoming the dreaded one hit wonder tag. We also take a look at the meaning behind all of her music to date and where her bright future lies. This is one inspiring underdog story you won’t want to miss. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy. This week we explore the first of two chapters on the life and career of Prince. We take an in depth look at his childhood years and the moments that shaped him as a person and as a musician as he faces a number of physical, mental, financial and racial barriers growing up to releasing his debut album at just the age of 19. The highly talented multi-instrumentalist would go on to produce, write and play all the instruments on his first 5 albums, striking controversy due to his outrageous fashion sense, outlandish stage persona, his high falsetto vocals and his sexually explicit lyrics that often came under scrutiny. Prince would forge an image of his own by the mid 80's with his breakthrough album 1999 and his highly successful Purple Rain film, soundtrack and single cementing him as a household name and a star of the music industry. We take a look at Prince's first 6 albums as well as exploring the meaning behind the lyrics as we take a look at songs such as I Wanna Be Your Lover, When Doves Cry, Let's Go Crazy, Purple Rain, The Beautiful One's, Little Red Corvette, 1999, I Would Die 4 U, Uptown, Controversy and many more. Tune in to Part 2 of Prince's story as well as we explore the second half of Prince's career and the death of one of the greatest musicians to ever grace the stage. Thanks for tuning in and enjoy. Together we take a look at the incredible life journey of the enchanting, mystical and courageous Stevie Nicks. From her early days raised in Pheonix, Arizona as she was taken under the wing of her beloved grandfather to her first encounter with Lindsay Buckingham before performing together in the Fritz Rabyne Memorial Band and as a duo named Buckingham Nicks. Stevie would slave away working around 3 jobs at once before the pair were scouted by Mick Fleetwood of Fleetwood Mac. From there Stevie would prove all the doubters wrong with her incredible live performances, unique but strong vocals and her heartfelt songwriting ability that cast a spell on fans from all over the world. Despite losing her way at times she would become an inspiring female figure in Rock n Roll as she attempted to make it in a man's world, she battled relationship drama's, affairs, scandals and drug addiction, as well as striking out as a solo artist and would eventually earn her rightful place as the only woman in history to make the Rock N Roll hall of fame twice, opening the door for other female musicians to follow in her footsteps. Sit back and enjoy as this is one hell of an inspiring and incredible story. We take a look at the meaning behind a large number of Stevie's most memorable songs and ones you may not know too much about including Dreams, Landslide, Stand Back, Sara, Rhiannon, Gypsy, Edge of Seventeen, Leather and Lace, Has Anyone Ever Written a Song For You, Gold Dust Woman, Silver Springs and many more.
