I've been a champion bodybuilder with 3% body-fat and I’ve also pigged out at all-you-can-eat buffets and have a deep love of food and enjoying life like crazy! So, I’m not some Nutrition Robot or extremist. I’m a real person just like you who loves the good things in life - friends, family, and all the delicious food that comes with it. There’s something I say nearly every episode. I say it because I believe it. But the other day, I was listening to a different podcast and someone said - “I know greatness is coming your way!” At first, I really appreciated that. He’s really supporting and encouraging people. Heck yeah, I love that! But then I thought about it a bit more … and it bothered me. It bothered me because he doesn’t know what’s coming your way. He doesn’t know me. He doesn’t know you. He doesn’t know what life’s going to bring us. And then I thought about what I say nearly every episode. Am I doing the same thing? Am I just offering empty, hyped up motivation? Am I lying to you?? Losing weight may seem really complex and difficult for you. While it may seem much simpler for someone else. And guess what? Both of you are right. It is simple and complex all at the same time. Here’s the crazy part - both you and the other person may unknowingly insult each other in regards to losing weight and food choices! This episode centers around an interesting experience shared by a client, who expressed envy towards a friend's seemingly effortless ability to manage their weight. The friend's response wasn’t inherently hurtful, but rubbed my client wrong. This interaction serves as a springboard for a broader discussion on two significant insights regarding personal development: the dangers of making assumptions about others' experiences and the recognition that multiple truths (that might seem contradictory) can actually coexist. We’ve all made “to do” lists. Unfortunately, not many people have ever created a “don’t do” list. That’s exactly what today’s episode is all about. I’m sharing a list of things to NOT do. It’s a list of things that will make sure you stay overweight, unhealthy, and just overall miserable w/ your body and life. So, obviously you want to avoid these at all costs! We’ll cover all sorts of stuff like . . . Life is all about choices. Anne Frank wrote - "Our lives are fashioned by our choices. First we make our choices. Then our choices make us." Zig Ziglar said - "Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice; it is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved." Les Brown said - “Remember, you have the power to change your life by changing your choices." Choices are powerful. And there’s one choice that’s more powerful than the rest. In today’s episode, I’m explaining one choice that can literally change everything for you. It’s really as much of a mindset shift as it is a simple choice. Once you begin to think differently and see certain choices differently, you’ll start to make different choices. It might be time to really think about what you’ve typically done in the past and what you want for your future. There’s a famous quote that says - "Most people overestimate what they can do in a year and underestimate what they can do in ten years" After 20+ years of coaching people, I've developed my own version of this quote . . . "We overestimate what we can do in a month and vastly underestimate what we can do in a year." We live in a super fast world. Unfortunately that’s led to most of us being pretty impatient. When you're living in a body that doesn't FEEL good ... Or your body doesn't LOOK how you want ... Or your health is suffering ... Then we’re really not patient! We want to fix it now! Give me a 4 week program to knock this out. I get it. I'm not necessarily a shining example of patience myself. However, when it comes to losing weight, keeping it off, and creating the life and health you really want … that takes longer than one month.
