Why listen
Keeping Up Appearances Podcast feels like joining a group chat of football-mad mates who have strong Premier League opinions, running jokes, and a soft spot for games, quizzes, and nostalgia. Shaun, Max, Sean, Phil and the wider panel bounce between Merseyside rivalry, weekly talking points, transfer debates, cult heroes, and formats like Imposter or Family Fortunes. It is a good fit for listeners who want football chat that is fan-led, loose, funny, and more pub-table than pundit desk.

As the season draws to a close, we have decided to look back on our Pre-Season Predictions from way back in August. Looking back, there are a few great shouts in there but also a fair few howlers. Let us know how we did and, with hindsight, who you think deserves some of the awards. Please share with a friend and follow us on socials. Nice one.
This week, we are joined by VAR official and the latest signing of The Overlap, Andy Cantwell. He returns to KUA after a long absence but, this time, spoke to us about his content journey and how the Stick to Football gang are next on his hit list. We discuss the latest VAR controversy and how he feels about Liverpool's season. A few tricky questions and a Tenable on top - this is an episode you won't want to miss. Give it a listen and a share - nice one (TikTok: @keepingupappspod | Instagram: @keepingupapps | Twitch: @keepingupapps)
As the season draws to an end across the country, we take a look at some of the more interesting title races. The Premier League features the usual suspects, the National League went down to the wire and the SPFL could see history made. Who do you want to see come out on top? (TikTok: @keepingupappspod, Instagram: @keepingupapps, Twitch: @keepingupapps)
Still reeling from the Merseyside Derby, the lads discuss how we are all feeling, from both sides of the city. The difference in mood is stark. We then discuss the North London teams and how we are all praying for their demise, for very different reasons. The 'rivalry' theme continues with our Treacherous Transfers Ranking where we debate some of the more controversial moves between enemies.
We dedicated this week's episode to Liverpool FC, as they continue to find themselves making headlines for the right reasons. As a Blue, Shaun asks the questions to Reds, Max and Andy, revealing how they view the current situation at the club and their hopes for the future. Even if you're a fan of a different team, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one.
With the recent international break finalising this summer's full World Cup line up, we decided to spend some time looking ahead to the tournament, as well as looking back on our favourite moments from the past. Max hosts a tricky quiz (for one of us) and we also took some time to rank 5 of the biggest legends of the game. Give it a listen and share with a mate (or two, if you have them). Nice one.
This week, to make up for the lack of PL football, we decided to plug into some nostalgia and play an old favourite, Family Fortunes. Shaun hosts and the team of Max and Sean take on Phil and Andy. One team win gracefully and one team lose very sorely. I'll let you decide who is who. Please share with friends and family - send the link to anyone you think will enjoy it. Nice one.
Another week and another episode of KUA. We responded to some wild claims from Neville and co. this week, analysing some of their unpopular opinions, before discussing some of our own. We then reviewed the week's PL action - Everton's demolition of Chelsea, in particular. Our main event is a huge game of Killer, where one of the lads is undercover, trying to sabotage the game for everyone else. Give it a listen and send it to a few mates. Nice one.
We are back again with another PL review, focused mainly on the two Merseyside clubs, who had a huge impact on matters at either end of the table last weekend. We discuss Spurs' potential relegation, as well as if David Moyes makes it into the Top 10 PL managers. The debut/return or FootGolf set up an interesting closing question focusing on the GOAT, Louis Theroux. Give it a listen and a share - you and your mates will love it.
We spend this week's episode reminiscing on classic FA Cup moments - the days that made us fall in love with the cup. And, now that it's been pushed to the wayside in favour of European nights, we consider if football really was better years ago or if it is just our rose tinted glasses. On top of that, Shaun brings a very tricky quiz question about PL assisters. Can you name the Top 10? Give it a listen and a share with friends - nice one.
What an episode this week! Three of us are fresh off the back of a Southport quarter final win, which was as eventful as it was emotional for Sean. We discuss the game, its impact on the club and the prospect of a huge Wembley final. Following that, we take a deep dive into Sunday League football and create our ultimate XI of professionals who played the game in the spirit of Sunday League. Let us know if you disagree and who you have in your team. Give it a listen and a share with friends - nice one.
This week's episode comes right off the back of another Everton defeat at home and the lads discuss the highs and lows of our latest MNF. We also discuss Arsenal and Spurs, as well as the increasingly heated Top 4 race. The return of Football Linkee also brings the introduction of a special decider - you won't want to miss it. Give it a listen and a share with friends - nice one.
This week our focus turned to the FA Cup, although focus might not be the right word. The lads discuss if they actually pay attention to the FA Cup results and question where the competition stands amongst the priorities of top teams these days. Jurgen Klopp takes a few strays as well. Excuse Callum's audio at the start (if gets better after a few minutes, I promise). Give it a listen and a share with friends - nice one.
After enjoying the last one so much, we brought Imposter back again. This week, Shaun took over hosting duties, putting Max's lying ability to the test. His opponents are Tosh, Sean and Phil and bragging rights are on offer for the best Imposter. Play along at home and see if you can work out who you think is the liar in each round. Let us know how you get on and share with friends and family. Cheers.
The usual suspects are here this week, discussing the weekend's biggest talking points - although Griffin puts his foot down on one of them. We talk about how disappointing the January transfer window has been and take part in a loan-based quiz, which is better than it sounds (I promise). Give it a listen and a share with friends - nice one.
Shaun and Max are joined by Tosh and Callum this week, with a big focus on the Merseyside clubs. Their positivity shines through as we talk about both of our clubs. We also touch on the title race and if we feel anyone will pip Arsenal to the post. The return of Who's That Mystery Footballer sees an absolute trouncing take place by on of the lads. Give it a listen and a share. Help us grow by telling your mates - cheers.
It's The Traitors Final this week so we brought some much needed treachery to the pod. We discuss the insane AFCON final, as well as the weekend's Premier League action. Has the needle moved at all in the title race? We then faced a game of Killer with a Traitor lying through his teeth throughout - but who is the Traitor? Please share with your friends - they will enjoy it, trust us.
This week, the lads were a member down but you wouldn't know it as they barely ever mention it. They discuss the weekend's FA Cup heroics and letdowns, as well as the manager merry-go-round that is sweeping the continent. They also faced a Football Connection Wall that really tested their ball knowledge. Give us a listen and a share - it would be much appreciated.
At the start of the season (well, one game in), Shaun and Max made some predictions for the season. We figured this was a good time to look back on those predictions and see just how wrong we were. Obviously, there is plenty of time for things to change so you never know. We discuss Liverpool's turbulent season, Manchester United's managerial situation and a handful of other success stories and flops. Please listen and share with your mates - I bet they'd enjoy this too.
Here is the conclusion to last week's Big Fat Quiz of the Year. With a couple of Mastermind rounds left and the chance to gamble away points, anything could happen. Who do you think takes home the crown?
Join us, before the madness of Christmas takes over, for Part 1 of our Big Fat Quiz of the Year. Max is in the hosting chair once again and the other 4 lads go head to head. Part 2 will follow next week.
This one is full of surprises! As Christmas approaches, we were lucky to be joined by the Wet/Sticky Bandits, who reviewed the latest PL events. We discussed Jame Carragher's comments on Mo Salah and how it has all been a bit of a storm in a teacup. Griffin and Max then went H2H in a game of Football Guess Who. To close the show, we were treated to the ultimate Christmas treat, when Griffin ticked off a bucket list task - performing his favourite song to the world/whoever listens to this. Give it a listen and a share - your mates will love it.
It's been a quiet week on Merseyside so we didn't have much to talk about... We focus on Mo Salah's self-destruction and Everton title challenge. Max also brought a tough quiz based on some expensive transfers. The lads then discuss their favourite Christmas films as well as those they think are overrated. It's a great listen so make sure to share it with your mates. Nice one.
After we found out a few weeks ago that the lads are terrible liars, we decided to test it out properly. Max hosts a full Imposter episode featuring the lies of Shaun, Sean, Griffin and Tosh - we wouldn't get very far on Would I Lie to You? Give it a listen and share with your mates. Nice one.
It is the International Break this week (with some huge results taking place) so we have deviated from our normal set up. We touch briefly on Ireland and the strange love-in from Scousers and Americans, before building our perfect England player. A tricky Whose Line Up Is It Anyway tested the lads on their 2014 WC knowledge too, Give it a listen and share with your mates. Nice one.
This is a monster of an episode but it's well worth a listen. We welcomed Callum back to the fold and he took on the two Reds admirably as they debated the controversial referee decisions of the weekend. We then analysed the performances of the Merseyside clubs. On top of that, our first game of Football Imposter takes a funny turn. Give it a listen and share with a mate. Nice one. This week, we welcome back Sean to the panel, who brings his calm, laid back energy to the pod. We discuss the battle for the Premier League title, underrated goalkeepers (AGAIN) and Guess the Footballers. We also find out some surprising songs that the lads listen to to get pumped up .Give it a listen and a share. Nice one
We are back with a full squad and this week's episode is very manager heavy. We talk about David Moyes and his inability to adapt, alongside Arne Slot and his continuous difficult second season. On top that, Klopp's CEO interview sparked a GOAT manager debate, which proves to be quite controversial. Give it a listen and share with a friend. Nice one.
The question we all want the answer to. England's number one or Irish journeyman? We also delve into Liverpool's demise and what we think is to blame. Our brand new quiz, Six Degrees of Separation, broke up the Premier League chat and took us on a trip down memory lane. Give it a listen and a share.
This week, Shaun and Max take a deep dive into Women's Football. They look into the grassroots game, the transition into being pro and the prospect of where Women's Football could go in the future. One for fans of the women's game as well as anyone who'd like to learn a bit more about it. Give it a listen and a share - nice one.
After a week away, the lads are back for more Premier League fallout and some interesting discussion. Liverpool's "crisis" takes centre stage, alongside Everton's last minute heroics to beat Crystal Palace. We test our knowledge of Spanish stalwarts and discuss international football in general, Give it a listen and a share. Until next time, it's been a blast!
This week, we are joined by one quarter of the best channel on YouTube, The Flat Chat's Jacob Murray, who brought his own spin on the Merseyside Derby. Alongside Jacob, Griffin came to balance the scales to ensure a 2v2, Red v Blue debate. A Merseyside derby quiz completed the theme, alongside the usual Super 6 and a brief note on the recent Ballon D'Or awards. Give it a listen and a share. Until next time, it's been a blast!
This week we are joined by Sean, Leon Knight's best mate and the brother of Southport co-owner, David Cunningham. Sean brings his cheery attitude about football to the podcast for the second time - hopefully he gets the chance to show off his elite ball knowledge. Please give it a listen and a share - nice one.
With the International break underway, we decided to discuss some of England's most recognisable players this week. 17/18 year old Michael Owen was in the spotlight, alongside the U17s and U20s that have win some gold with England in recent years. Like Owen's interview with Rio Ferdinand, there are some wild opinions in here. Listen and share - nice one.
Following a crazy weekend of football and an even more chaotic deadline day, we are here to discuss it all. Featuring KUA alumni, Callum, this episode involves everything you want in your football podcasts. Be sound and send it to a mate - cheers.
It's been an eventful footballing weekend on Merseyside! Everton fans got to see The Hill Dickinson Stadium in all its glory and Liverpool left it late to defeat a resilient Newcastle. We discuss all of this and more in our latest episode.
We are back! After a few months away, we are back and raring to go for the 25/26 Premier League season. We have a change of hosts, with Max stepping in to fill 3 pairs of shoes. No pressure. We return with a predictions episode and our regular episodes will be back next week. Please listen and share - we have a big year ahead of us!
The Echo is a podcast devoted to the forgotten heroes of British football. With each episode, we will journey back a number of decades to remember them men who played football for pride, passion and the love of the game. Today, we delve into the story of a man hailed by Sir Tom Finney as 'the best centre-half I ever played with or against'. A man who defied the FA and who crossed oceans in search of something bigger and better. And, in doing so, erased his name from history. This is the story of Neil Franklin.
After a long wait, we are back again with another studio episode. We discuss Shaun's dream day playing at Goodison Park, we play a controversial game of Tens10n, as well as debating which retired players should be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame. If you enjoyed this episode, please go back and listen to our back catalogue and share episodes with friends.
We have a special episode for you this week - back on Zoom and with a fantastic guest. We were lucky to be joined by Baz, from Toffee TV and The Overlap fame, who joined in our discussion over who would is the ultimate 'Goodison icon'. Let's just say we had very different ideas about what makes an icon. A brilliant episode that you won't want to miss!
We are back! Back with a fantastic episode too. We've changed our running order slightly but all of the usual stuff is included.
If you like NFL and the Superbowl, you're going to love our "American" football ideas. We wanted to make the game more American in our M5, with some very interesting suggestions made. Another fantastic episode from the best podcast that no one knows about. Listen and share with a mate - we know they would enjoy it as much as you do. Cheers.
We are back with our normal squad and it felt good to be back at full strength. Speaking of squads, our brand new game, Squad Games, had a very interesting debut - the kind even Jonathan Woodgate would be embarrassed about. A Marooned 5 focusing on those players who have defined a year in football history was an interesting topic that will prove difficult to vote on in the polls. Another great episode and I really think you should share it with friends and family. Nice one
We have another fantastic guest stepping into Bob's shoes this week - TikTok's finest CamFitz, the man behind the Pitch Side spoofs taking over the internet. A fellow Evertonian, he joins us to talk about Everton's CL push and debate football's best ever returns. Rich List and Keeping Up Appearances bookend this episode, keeping Cam and you listeners guessing. Give it a listen - you won't be disappointed.
We were delighted to be joined by the ultimate football skitsman, Joey Jokes, this week. He brought tales of playing with Robert Pires and Diego Forlan, as well as his own insight into playing Sunday League footy. Our Marooned 5 brought those Sunday League stereotypes into question and any PL players we believe might fit the mould. Tosh even had his own grassroots story this week - Gareth Bale-esque according to some. It's a great episode and we'd love you to listen and share. Be sound, that's all we ask. Cheers.
Better late than never! We were back in the studio and, this time, we introduced one of our more creative Marooned 5 topics, As most of you may know, Everton Stadium will be hosting test events soon in preparation for the new Premier League/Championship season. It is our job to come up with a test event of our own that suits Everton best. It's a good one! We also played KUA Dares Wins, as well as the ever-present Keeping Up Appearances. Please share and comment on socials/YouTube - we really appreciate it.
We are (finally) back! We've had a studio episode in between the quiz and now but there have been some delays in getting that out. This week, back on Zoom, we discussed the best ever FA Cup Streets Won't Forget players, who delivered unforgettable moments. We also played another exciting game of Rich List with some great shouts and some dodgy sources. We hope you have missed us and are glad to have us back. If so, share the episode and our socials with your friend (assuming, like us, you don't have many). Cheers
Our end of year quiz is back and it's bigger than ever. This time, we welcome back Max Burns, host of Quiz and Kicks Podcast, to chair the quiz between the 4 of us. It's controversial in many ways and, it's safe to say, not everyone leaves happy. Give it a watch and tell a friend. Make it your New Year's Resolution to help a small podcast grow (as long as it's this one). 02:20 Round 1 - As Time Goes By, 14:10 Round 2 - I'm Alan Partridge, 18:40 - Round 3 - Whose Line (Up) Is It Anyway?, 36:40 Round 4 - The Good Life, 44:00 Round 5 - 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 Foot in the Grave, 48:00 Round 6 - The Inbetweeners, 52:15 Round 7 - Keeping Up Appearances, 58:20 Round 8 - You Bet!
It's Christmas and that can mean only one thing - we celebrate the biggest misers in football. The lads discuss those characters within the game that simply suck the joy out of it and, as expected, their interpretations are very different. And, most importantly, its the return of Linkee! Give it a listen and tell your friends about us. It's a marathon, not a sprint this whole podcast game.
Only three of us this week but we've still got a belter episode for you. A one-sided KUA Dares Wins, a derby-inspired Marooned 5 and a tight Keeping Up Appearances. What more could you want? Give it a listen and tell your friends about us. It's a marathon, not a sprint this whole podcast game.
