The iconic image of "Rosie the Riveter" is often associated with female empowerment and the contributions of women to the war effort during World War II. However, the image we commonly associate with Rosie, the "We Can Do It!" poster, was not originally intended for that purpose. Created by J. Howard Miller in 1943 for Westinghouse Electric, it aimed to boost worker morale and reduce absenteeism in their factories. It wasn't until the 1980s that the poster gained popularity and became associated with Rosie the Riveter, thanks to its rediscovery and the feminist movement of the time. Another famous Rosie the Riveter image is Norman Rockwell's painting , which appeared on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post in 1943. This image, depicting a strong woman with a rivet gun and a lunch pail, was widely circulated and used in war bond drives, inspiring patriotism and encouraging women to join the workforce.
