The Secret Place

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 5th of June, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalm 39:3: My heart was hot within me; While I was musing, the fire burned.” Then we go straight to the Gospel of Mark 1:35: ”Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.” That was our beloved Saviour Jesus Christ. Do you have a secret place? Do you have a place where you can come apart and sit quietly and be warmed by the presence of Almighty God? If you haven’t, you need to find one because it’s very important.George Matheson, the Scottish preacher, was blind. He wrote something very special, and I want to quote a few things that he said. He said, ”Is there no secret pavilion (no secret place) into which you can go and warm yourself?” I just think of a campfire. Isn’t it beautiful to sit around a campfire and not even speak. Just watch those beautiful flames on a cold night. It warms your heart. He says, ”Is there no Holy of Holies where you can catch a glow of the impulse of God that will make you strong?” We really need to find that place. He says that, ”Elijah’s solitude (by himself), if you do that then you will have a chariot of fire, just like Elijah had, which took him to heaven.”What about Moses? When Moses was in that solitary place on Mount Sinai, when he came down, his face was shining. It was glowing so brightly that he had to wear a covering over his face so people couldn’t look at him for a long while.“Your words shall be burning when you spend time in the presence of God. They will kindle many a heart journeying on the road to Emmaus.” Remember, Jesus, all of a sudden was walking next to the two men who were on the road to Emmaus and they didn’t recognise Him but when He broke bread they realised exactly who He was.“Oh, my soul would you have your life glorified, “beautified” in the eyes of men well get up to the secret place? Get up to God’s pavilion where the fires of love are burning and your life shall shine gloriously to the people on the earth.”Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

No Goodbyes

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 4th of June, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Acts 20:37-38:”Then they all wept freely, and fell on Paul’s neck and kissed him, sorrowing most of all for the words which he spoke, that they would see his face no more. And they accompanied him to the ship.” Now we know that was the last time they saw Paul and they knew it because from there he eventually ended up in Rome and he was beheaded by the Roman Emperor. Always a sad thing to say goodbye, isn’t it? An airport for me is always a bitter sweet place. I sit often and I watch when I’m waiting for my plane. People that are arriving, and there is absolute joy and tears and hugs having not seen their loved ones for maybe a number of years, but it is also a place of great sadness when some loved ones are saying goodbye knowing that that they will probably not see them again in this life.I want to tell you about the Drakensberg Boys Choir. Just a short while ago, I had the privilege of speaking to these young men. As we were finishing up, we’d made the alter call, we’d prayed the Sinners Prayer, we’d repented, we’d rejoiced, and a group of these young men gathered around me and they said they’d like to sing me a song, and they sang that beautiful song, “Until we meet again” and I must say it did bring me to tears but you know the Good News is, as believers, as followers of Jesus Christ, it’s never goodbye forever. No, it’s only for a season. If we look at John 14:3, the Lord says, ”I will come again”. It’s a promise! He’s coming back to fetch us, you and me, who believe in the Lord and who love Him, and He’s going to take us home to Heaven to be with our loved ones. So that is wonderful news and Jesus has promised that to all who believe in Him. I want to encourage you to pray for your loved ones and pray that you will see them again in Heaven.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

Tell Them

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 3rd of June, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Ezekiel 3:18: ”…and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.“  Then we go to the Book of Acts 20:26-27: ”Therefore I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.” You and I have an obligation to tell people about Jesus, starting with our own families. There’s an old saying that goes like this. “Nobody deserves to hear the Gospel twice until the world has heard it once.” Isn’t that true?We live on a farm and we’ve got lots of horses. You can take a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. Isn’t that right? We need to tell people they need Jesus Christ in order to be saved. If we don’t tell them and the Holy Spirit has prompted us to tell them, then their blood shall be on our hands. That’s what Paul was saying and that’s what the Book of Ezekiel is saying, but don’t try and force them. Now this word is specially for wives and for daughters because I want to tell you something, I am so grateful to Jesus Christ for my wife and for my dear old mother who’s gone to be with the Lord, soft hearts, but there are men that get tough and the worst thing that you can do is to try and persuade your loved one to become a Christian when he’s not ready. The worst thing you can do is to leave Christian magazines on the coffee table! I’m laughing, but it’s not funny. Those men are not stupid. They know exactly what you are trying to do. So what must we do? You must pray and you must ask God to soften their hearts, but don’t try and force them because you’ll probably push them the other way.My dear old dad was one of the strongest men I ever knew, he was a blacksmith by trade. He had his own private ways. He was very conservative, very reserved. Every time I’d try and talk to him about Jesus, he would say, “Son, I’ve got my own ways and my own belief.” How do you get through to a man like that? Well, I prayed and I prayed and then one day, oh yes, one day he said to me when I said, ”Dad, you need Jesus.” He said, ”Not before time,” and he prayed the Sinner's Prayer

Hard Workers

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 2nd of June, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Acts 20:7: ”Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight.”  How’s that for a sermon? Preaching all night! But there was a young man, whose name was Eutychus. He was sinking into a deep sleep, and he fell out the window, the third storey. He fell to the ground, and he died. Paul stopped his preaching, went down to the bottom, laid his hands, laid his body over Eutychus and prayed, and God raised him up! Then Paul went back upstairs and kept preaching all night until the sun came up, then he blessed them all and continued on his journey. What a man! What a work ethic!I want to encourage you today, young man, young lady. You must work hard and especially for the Kingdom of God. It’s not about, “Oh, so and so is so lucky, or he is so blessed or so privileged.” No, if you look into that man’s life, you will see that he was a very diligent, hard-working man or woman. At university, at school, in the workplace, continually working and praising the Lord - a wonderful example to so many people who can’t even get out of their bed in the morning.Strength for the strain - God gives us enough strength for the work that he’s called us to. Let us not become lazy. Let us not become slack. You know that beautiful scripture found in Galatians 6:9: “And let us not grow weary (tired) while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” Jesus bless you. Have a wonderful day as you keep working for the Master! Goodbye.

Confess

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 1st of June, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Deuteronomy 9:26. This is Moses speaking: “Therefore I prayed to the Lord, and said: ‘O Lord God, do not destroy Your people and Your inheritance whom You have redeemed through Your greatness, whom You have brought out of Egypt with a mighty hand.” The Lord was so angry with the Children of Israel because they had made a moulded calf out of gold and started to worship it because Moses had taken so long to come down from the mountain. Then we go straight to the Book of Romans 6:23: ”For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Then the last scripture is Luke 23:34: “Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” He said that while He was hanging on the cross. You know sin is a terrible thing. It hurts so many people, especially our loved ones. I’m talking about that divorce, I’m talking about that period that you have spent in prison because you stole something, I’m talking about the lies that have got you into so much trouble. It actually damages our testimony. We have nothing to say after that. It breaks my heart when I hear of men and women of God who have done so much for the Lord and then they fall into sin and their whole testimony is wiped out in one night. I remember one man, we know him well, but I’m not going to name him, he was one of the top apologists in the world. He was a man who had the students literally eating out of his hand, and then he dropped the ball, as they say, and overnight his books, his material was taken off all the shelves of every Christian bookshop that I know of, but I want to tell you some good news. 1 John 1:9 says: ”If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”  I want to pray for you. Maybe you have got yourself into a terrible situation. I want to say

Legacy

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 31st of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to Mark 8:36: ”For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” Or we can say, “family”.I want to speak to you about legacy. What are we leaving behind for our children when we go on to be with the Lord? I want to say to you. I say this with sadness, it wasn’t so long ago I was asked to go and speak to a family where the patriarch, the old man of the family, was very ill. A mighty, wonderful servant of the Lord, an extremely hard-working man who has literally built up an empire of business, and he is leaving it to his family. Now he has an extensive family. I went and spoke to the whole family, but as they collected me at the airport to take me to the mansion where he is living, some of his family said to me, ”We need to tell you something. There’s been a lot of jealousy, a lot of unhappiness in the family with regard to whom is going to get what, when it comes to inheritance.” Now the old man is not even dead and already they are arguing and fighting. One of his sons actually said to me, and he was very, very sad about it, that he has already been taken to court by one of the family because of money matters or inheritance matters. It should not be like this. It is very, very sad, and unfortunately, this is not an isolated case. I have the privilege of knowing many influential people, and many a time, the old gentleman and his dear wife, who have literally built up a fortune through hard work, through trusting the Lord, through investing wisely, but the children are not carrying on the legacy. They are wanting their part of the inheritance even before their parents have died. Let us be so careful to leave a good inheritance for the children’s sake, not for our sake. Teach them the word of God, teach them the principles of Jesus, teach them about the Lord, teach them that it is better to give than to receive. Teach them about their eternal inheritance they’ll receive when they go to Heaven, and then, by the grace of God, when we do go home, we will know that our family is in the hands of God and that the Bible is the ultimate authority for giving out your wealth to your loved ones.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

Nothing is Impossible

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 30th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in John 15:5. Jesus says: ”…without Me you can do nothing.” Then we go to Philippians 4:13 which says:”I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Now, if you look at the photo that I’ve put on this Thought For Toay, you’ll see the cover of my new Bible which was given to me by a publishing house and I really esteem and thank them.I looked up a beautiful reading by a wonderful man of God who lived a while back. His name is F.B. Meyer, a man of God, and he says, and I quote, ”Apart from Him…” That’s Jesus, ”…we can do nothing. While we are abiding in Him, nothing is impossible. The one purpose of our life should therefore be to remain in living and intense union with Jesus, guarding against everything that would break it, employing every means of cementing and enlarging it, and just in proportion as we do so, we shall find His strength flowing into us for every possible emergency.” Isn’t that beautiful? “We may not feel it’s presence but we shall find it present whenever we begin to draw on it. There is no temptation that we cannot master. There is no tribulation which we cannot patiently bear. There is no difficulty with which we cannot cope, no work which we cannot perform. There is no confession or testimony which we cannot make if only our souls are living in healthy union with Jesus Christ. For as our day or hour, so shall our strength be.” Isn’t that beautiful? So today remember there is nothing which you cannot do if you are spending your time with Jesus Christ.Have a wonderful day. Jesus bless you and goodbye.

The Finger of God

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 29th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Exodus 31:18: “He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.” Then we go to the Gospel of John 8:6: “But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.”What was Jesus writing on the ground? Well, people have spoken about that for centuries. No-one actually knows but isn’t it God-incidental that His Father also wrote on the tablets of stone with His finger? Can you imagine - burnt into stone? Oh my friend, how desperately do we need something like that in this world where nothing is honourable, nothing is secure. You can’t believe anything anymore, can you?I have a very dear friend. Many, many years ago we were talking about, “What is absolute trust?” What can we do? Like we go and sign an agreement, the other person breaks it. He said that piece of paper is not even worth the weight of the paper. (He is a lawyer, by the way). He said, “Uberrima fides,” which is latin for utmost trust. What is utmost trust? It is the promise of a man. I have promised to pay you for that farm - and he does it; I have promised to honour you for the rest of my life, on your wedding day. It is absolute. It cannot be broken, cannot be bent, cannot be changed, cannot be misinterpreted. When I read this, this morning, oh my dear friend, I thought, “God, what an incredible Person You are! You wanted to make sure that we understood that the law of God is not to be broken by anybody under any circumstances.”How many times have countries signed agreements? No more war! They don’t even walk out the door and it starts again. Remember, Chamberlain came back from Germany. He had signed an agreement with Adolf Hitler and he said, “Peace, peace!” He got off the aeroplane shaking that piece of paper. “I have signed a piece of paper.” Folks, I don’t think Chamberlain had got off the aeroplane and Hitler was already invading the rest of Europe.Today, we need to understand. God gave us His word. Jesus wrote in the sand and He meant it. Have a wonderful day as you put your trust in the Son of God, Jesus Christ.<p class="" data-rte-preser

Aim for the Heart

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 28th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Acts 22:1-3. This is Paul speaking: “Brethren and fathers, hear my defence before you now.” and when they heard that he spoke to them in the Hebrew language, they kept all the more silent and he said: “I am indeed a Jew…”  I always remember a famous man saying, ”If you speak to a man in English, you speak to his head, but if you speak to a man in his mother tongue, you speak to his heart.” What true words! You see, Paul was identifying with the people that he was speaking to. He was speaking to a group of Jews. He said, ”I am a Jew just like you.” Straight away, he had their attention. The Bible says that everybody went silent.I’ve seen it happen so many times before. When you get a farmer standing up, speaking to a farmer’s association and speaking, as it were in their home language, straight away, you have their attention. When you speak to a miner who goes underground to mine for gold or coal, and he’s speaking to a group of tough, hardened, wonderful miners, and he starts to talk about mining operations underground, straight away, he’s got their full attention. When I see a mother, well I’m thinking particularly of my wife at the moment, a housewife, a mother of five, a grandmother of thirteen, a great-grandmother of two. When she starts to speak to young mothers, she has their complete attention immediately. Why? Because she knows what she’s talking about and she knows their heart.Today, let us not concentrate so much on the technical aspect of things but let us start aiming at the heart of people, telling them about the love of Jesus Christ and what He means to you and to me, telling that woman that, ”it’s ok, I’ve been there where you’ve been before. I was also a young mother once, but my assurance was that Jesus Christ was with me in my darkest times when my child was sick, and I didn’t know what to do and I prayed.” And straight away those young mothers will remember that and never forget it. Today, aim at the heart, and not the head. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

Self-Control

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 27th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Proverbs 16:32: “He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, And he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.” Then we go to Romans 7:19, and this is Paul speaking, “For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice.” (Verse 24:) “O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death?”  Now this is the great apostle, Paul, struggling also with his own feelings and control of himself. You know godliness with contentment is great gain. You will find that in 1 Timothy 6:6. We really need to take control of our emotions. We can blow it so easily, can’t we? We can be really spending time with God, we can be in the presence of God, then get into our motorcar and go to town and somebody cuts in front of you and all of a sudden you are in a rage and shaking your fists at that man, instead of just praying for him. You don’t know why that man cut in front of you. Maybe he is trying to get a sick person to the doctor. We don’t know what it is. We really need to ask the Holy Spirit to give us control over our emotions. One man of God wrote, “More dear in the sight of God and His angels, than any other conquest, is the conquest of self, which each man with the help of Heaven, can secure for himself.” We really need to ask the Lord to take control. Now, I have mentioned to you before, Brother Lawrence, the French monk who lived 300 years ago, wrote that little booklet. He didn’t write it. It was written about him, “Practicing the Presence of God,” when he came to the realisation that it doesn’t matter what you do in life, if you give it to the Lord, He will give you His peace. He was the guy who washed the pots and pans in the monastery, the one who sewed up the sandals of the other brothers whose sandals had broken. And they used to gather around him because they wanted the peace and the self-control that they saw evident in his own life, and it was simply because he handed it over to Jesus. Today, hand over to Jesus everything and let Him control your life. Jesus bless you and goodbye.

Only By God's Grace

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 26th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to Deuteronomy 8:17: “…then you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gained me this wealth.” Then we go to the New Testament, Luke 12:19 (This is a very successful farmer): “And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.” ’But what happens after that? The Lord says, ‘Foolish man! This very night your soul will be required of you...”We need to be very careful how we stand, lest we fall. Bragging is a very dangerous thing, and I really want to stress today that the Lord was warning the Children of Israel in the first scripture verse I read to you in Deuteronomy, that all these riches that you had were given to you by Me, not by your own hand, but only by the love of God. Don’t forget who gave it to you! We really need to be careful of that one. Never forget to say, if somebody says, “Wow, you have done so well”, - it is only by God’s grace.” If we go to James 4:15, instead of bragging, the Bible says we ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that” because we don’t know how much time we have left on this earth. So it worries me when I see a young man who has been very successful in sport, commerce, industry, even the ministry, and he starts to take the glory. Never, ever touch God’s glory. That is the most dangerous thing you could ever do. We need to let our words be sweet when we talk because one day we might have to eat them! So just say, “God has been kind”. I love to drive around a farm where I see a hard-working successful young farmer and I say, “You have done so well here. Your crops are looking good, your cattle are fat, your sheep are looking great,” and to hear the young man say, “Yes sir, but it is only because of the kindness and the grace of God that I have them.’But when I see a young man who is arrogant, “Oh yes, I am going to work for a couple more years and then I am going to retire, and I am just so pleased with myself.” Be careful, it is only through God’s grace.<p class="" data-rt

Sanctified

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 25th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 17:19, and this is the Lord Himself speaking: ”And for their sakes (that’s you and me) I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.”  Sanctified - I looked up the Oxford dictionary, it means, “something holy”. “The only way that you and I can help them is by being the noblest and the best man or woman that it is possible for us to be.” That was spoken by a man named Phillips Brooks. You see it’s by example. That is how we help people. They won’t do what you tell them. I’m talking about your children; they will do what you do. So if you shout and swear, they’ll do exactly the same thing.Never give a person a job you cannot do yourself. Show them, don’t just tell them. When you’ve got a new tractor driver and he’s ploughing and the plough is not set properly, and the front coulter’s going in too deep, and the back one’s sticking up in the air, and he’s driving it in the wrong gear, and there’s black smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe, don’t sit in your pickup at the headland and shout at him. Rather let him come to the end of the field and before he turns the tractor around, jump on the tractor, ask him to sit next to you and show him the right gear, then set the plough for him and then he’ll be very happy and he’ll listen to you, but if you don’t know how to do it then don’t try and tell him. We need to walk the talk. That’s what Jesus always did, and that’s why I love Him so much. Do you remember that old hymn: ”A new commandment I give unto you?” Should we sing it together.A new commandmentI give unto you,That you love one anotherAs I have loved you,That you love one anotherAs I have loved you.By this shall all men knowThat you are My disciples,If you have love one for another.By this shall all knowThat you are My disciples,If you have love one for another.Jesus said, ”A new commandment I give unto to you, that you love one another as I have loved you." He showed us how to do it. Let us go out into the world and make sure that we do not cause people to stumble but to love them in the noblest and the b

Clean Out

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning. The 24th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Acts 19:19-20: “Also, many of those who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. And they counted up the value of them, and it totalled fifty thousand pieces of silver. So the word of the Lord grew mightily and prevailed.”I just want to say to you this morning that we need to have a good hard look at ourselves and clean out the closet. What does that mean? Well, you know they talk about spring-cleaning. Normally at the end of a winter time, people will go through their homes and take out all the stuff that they don’t need and get rid of it. We need to clean out our closets, our wardrobes, our cupboards, our mantelpieces, things in our motorcars and boats that do not reflect the glory of Jesus. I am talking about burning horoscopes, folks. They are not acceptable. You don’t need a horoscope when you have the Holy Spirit. Tarot cards, statues of other gods - “Ja, but I got that from my granny and it’s an heirloom.” No, it’s not. It’s something you need to get rid of. Books and trinkets that have no bearing on your faith, get rid of it! You don’t need it. You see, it actually distracts us from worshipping the Living God, Jesus Christ.Lucky charms - get rid of them. You don’t need them.  You have Jesus. He says, “I will never leave you. I will never forget you.” So why are you thinking about things that have no power or relevance in your life? These people were convicted by Paul’s preaching, by his signs and wonders and miracles. They took anything and everything out of their homes that did not glorify the Lord and burnt them publicly. So we need to do the same. We cannot serve two gods. Now, just to finish up - 2 Corinthians 5:17 says that if anyone is in Christ (that’s you and me) he or she is a new creation (brand-new). Old things have passed away, and behold, all things have become new. When Jill and I were convicted by the Holy Spirit to clean out our house, we took all those trinkets, and all those little statues, and those lucky charms and we took them to our donkey boiler. Now, for those of you in the big cities who do not understand what that is, it is a 44-gallon drum that we make as a little place for warming our water. We make a fire underneath it and we took all those things and we burnt them. And I want to tell you, it made us feel so good.<p class="" data-rte-pr

Prayer Warriors

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 23rd of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Acts 19:16: ”Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.” Then we go back to the Gospel of Matthew 17:21. This is Jesus talking: ”However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” Now remember what happened, the sons of Sceva, seven of them by the way, saw what Paul was doing, casting out demons from people who were demon-possessed, and they thought to themselves, “Well, we can also do that”, and they went in to deliver a man from an evil spirit. But what did this man say? He says, ”Jesus I know, Paul I know, but I don’t know you!’ And with that he attacked all seven of them, stripped them naked and wounded them and they ran for their lives. What happened there? Well, the same thing that happened with Jesus when the disciples came to Him after He had cast out a demon from a young boy who kept on harming himself, and they said, “Why could we not do that?” Jesus said, “This kind only comes out by fasting and prayer.”I remember the story of William Duma, a wonderful, powerful man of God. He lived in the Umkomaas area of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He was coming home one night in his little motorcar, driving towards the township. He was on a dirt road and, all of a sudden, out of the bush came some robbers. He had had to stop his car because they had put logs across the road. As he got out of his car they came running to him with knives and clubs and they were going to attack him. He looked at them and he said, “Do you know who I am?” And they stopped in their tracks. He said, “I am the son of God. If you touch me, you touch God.” And with that, they dropped their knives and their clubs and their steel pipes, and they ran for their lives, and he moved the logs out the way, got in his little motorcar and proceeded to his destination.Do not attempt to do things for God if you are not prepared to do them. You see, William Duma spent hours in prayer and fasting, in reading the scriptures and spending time with God. They recognised Christ in him, but you and I, if we are not going to spend time with the Lord, we must not try and take on th

The Bread of Life

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 22nd of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Deuteronomy 8:3:”…you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.” Then we go to the Gospel of John 6:35: ”And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger…” Jesus is the one who satisfies your hunger today, no one else and nothing else! Oh, I can tell you from the bottom of my heart, as a young man, I tried everything. I thought that I would be fulfilled when I became a successful sportsman. I thought that I would make it if I just owned my own farm, then I would never hunger again for anything. Then I met my dear wife and I thought, “That is it, now I have everything I need in life!” Then came along the children, even an extra blessing -  but still an emptiness in my heart. Are you there today, my dear friend? Are you feeling that way? ”Angus, I’ve tried everything, I’ve done everything, I’ve succeeded in so many ways and I am still not satisfied.” This message is for you today. You see, Mark 8:36 says: ”For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” Our hunger is satisfied only when we eat the Bread of Life and His name is Jesus Christ. The wisest man that ever lived was Solomon, and what did he say after he had achieved everything? “Vanity, vanity,” he said, “it’s like chasing the wind. I’ve done it all and I’ve got nothing to show for it.” We need the meat. We need the Word of God. I want to pray for you today because maybe you’re in that position. Father God, I pray for my friend listening to this message today, that you will show them the only time that they will be satisfied and filled up is when they seek You first.  I pray Lord, that they will start to get up early in the morning, spend time in Your presence, in prayer, Bible-reading and in thinking about the things which have eternal value, and Your peace, Your shalom, Your satisfaction will be all th

Don't Limit God

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 21st of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Acts 19:11: “Now God worked unusual miracles by the hands of Paul, so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases left them and the evil spirits went out of them.” Oh, I want to ask you a question today. Do you believe in miracles? I really do and I have seen too many of them to doubt the hand of God. I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to get the definition of the word “Miracle”, and this is what it says: A miracle is a welcome event that is so extraordinary that it is thought to be the work of God or a saint. It is a wonder, it is a marvel, it is unbelievable. Now, I want to tell you about another miracle that happened in my life. Many years ago, there was a farmer. His name was Job. He was going through a terrible drought in the north-west of our country. He reached out and said, “Please pray. We need rain. My boreholes are drying up. We don’t have enough water.” He had a dairy farm and his cows were really battling, no food, no water. So we flew up to the farm and before we went up there I had read the account of Elisha and the salt. If we look at 2 Kings 2:22, and this is what it says: “So the water remains healed to this day, according to the word of Elisha which he spoke.”  So I took a bag of coarse salt with us, about 5 kilos, and we flew up in the aeroplane. I got to his farm. I wanted to know, “Where is his main borehole?” and I walked up and all the staff got around. We poured the coarse salt down into the borehole and we prayed a prayer.Well, it wasn’t a week later, we got a report that there was a flood in that area and there was so much rain that it actually washed the road away. God answered prayer. I’ve been to that very spring which Elisha poured the salt into the bitter water and I can tell you it is sweet even to this day. Please do not limit God!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

Stewardship

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 20th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Luke 19:13. This is a parable of Jesus: "So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’ I want to speak this morning about stewardship. I looked up the Oxford dictionary to try and find out the definition of the word “stewardship” - a person who is employed to look after or manage a large estate or a home. Now, I want to speak to you specifically about the stewardship of resources entrusted to servants to look after. For example, silver, gold, but also about giftings and abilities and opportunities that God gives us to develop and to tell people about the Kingdom of God, faithful investments. Many of us say, ”What can we do? You know, I’m an old-age pensioner now. There’s nothing else I can do.” There is plenty that you can do. The first thing you can do is to start praying for others. Yes, using what you’ve got for the Lord. There’s a man, he is 90 years old, his name is Bill Gaither. He was being interviewed, and the man interviewing him said, ”You have lived a long time, and you have done many, many wonderful things.” This man has written over 700 songs. He has been the father to many of the greatest performers and Christian singers of the era.He got the award for the Christian songwriter of the century, oh yes. Him and his wife have won six Grammy awards, twenty Dove awards. He is an absolute giant in the Christian music industry, and he was asked by the man who was interviewing him, ”What is the most important thing that you think a man should concentrate on?” And you know what he said? He said, ”Stewardship. Looking after what you have been given.”Now, we go back to the scripture today that the Lord has given us and the nobleman said to his servants, ”Do business till I come.” I want to say to you today. The Lord is speaking to somebody specifically. He says, ”Do not stop. Complete what you started and the Lord will give you more.” Don’t be concerned about yesterday, it’s gone, we haven’t got tomorrow, it’s only today to be concerned about, and we need to do business until He comes because He could come at any time, and when He comes, it is good that He finds you and me working hard for the Kingdom.Jesu

With All Your Heart

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 19th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of John 2:5: “His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.” I want to tell you about a lady who did just that, and she lived many years ago. Her name was Florence Nightingale. She is known as the founder of modern nursing. She reduced the death rates by simply improving hygiene and living standards. She was known as the “Lady with the Lamp” because she used to make her rounds every night to check on the wounded soldiers during the war. I have a daughter who studied nursing and it is wonderful to see the heart of compassion that these kind of people have. Now we’re not talking about great preachers or people that have done great things. We are talking about people who simply obey the Word of the Lord. You might be saying today, ”Well you know, I have had very little education. I have had very little opportunity to serve the Lord.” You can serve the Lord wherever you are and whatever you are doing. Now I want to read a quotation from this woman of God, Florence Nightingale. She said, “If I could give you information of my life, it would be to show how a woman of very ordinary ability has been led by God in strange and unaccustomed paths to do in His service what He has done in her. And if I could tell you all, you would see how God has done all, and I nothing. I have worked hard, very hard, that is all; and I have never refused God anything.” Isn’t that beautiful?I want to say to you today, whatever it is that God has told you to do, do it with all your heart. Because the servants filled up the water vats with water, Jesus turned the water into wine. The first miracle that took place in the marriage feast in Cana. Now, maybe God has called you to be a school teacher, maybe God has called you to be a farmer, maybe God has called you to be an airline pilot, or maybe God has called you to be a housewife. Do it with all of your heart, and the Lord will use that to change the lives of many.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

Remember

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 18th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalm 37:31: ”The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.” Then we go to 1 Corinthians 11:25. Jesus says: “This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” I am talking about Holy Communion. It’s very important for us to remember the ordinances, commandments, and laws of God. That is what keeps you and me on the straight road, on the right road. Do you know what a phylactery is? A phylactery is something that the Orthodox Jews use when they have time with the Lord. Many years ago, I was flying in an Israeli airline to Jerusalem, and an Orthodox Jew was sitting across the aisle from me, and during the night, I saw him get up and put a shawl around his head. He took a leather band and he put it around his left hand with a little box on it. He took another leather band, put it around his head, with a little box on his forehead, and inside those two little boxes are Holy Scriptures. He does it during his quiet time. Why? Because he wants to remember the Lord, his God. Now, Jesus said every time you and I have Holy Communion, we do it and we remember what Christ has done for us. Gill and I have communion often, on our own, in the house. Maybe after breakfast, sometimes maybe after lunch, depending on our situation, just the two of us. And we take bread, we break it, and we remember the body of Christ broken for us, and then we take the cup, a little glass of grape juice, and we remember the blood of Jesus shed so that our sins would be washed away. We need to remember and not forget what the Lord has done for us.Many years ago when I was a man of twenty years old, I was a cowboy. I was in Australia. When we knocked off work, these were rough and tough men, but the salt of the earth, we would go into the local pub and there’d be a lot of chatting and talking and smoking, etc. Then all of a sudden, six o’clock every single night, everybody would become quiet, and there would be a little light in one corner of the pub, and then a voice would come over, ”Lest we forget. Let us remember.”  We would stand there for, I don’t know how long it was, maybe a minute or two, and remember all the fallen soldiers that had died for the Australian people, and the

Fellowship with God

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 17th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Psalms - Psalm 34:10:”…But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.” Then the other scripture. Matthew 6:33: ”But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” I want to ask you a question this morning. Are you satisfied with where you are at in your life at the moment? I can hear somebody say, ”No, I’m not. I’m still seeking and I don’t even know what I’m looking for but I’m not happy with where I am at right now.” Well, I have got good news for you! The Lord says, ”Seek me first and my righteousness and then all these other things that you are seeking, you will receive.”As a young man, my one desire was to be a farmer. I wanted to be a farmer. My dad was a blacksmith. Oh yes, a blue collar worker and what a hard-working man he was. I never had an opportunity to even get a job on a farm, but you know something, I got that farm and I got another one after that, and another one after that, and didn’t find any peace and fulfilment. I was looking in the wrong place. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.  I’ve met many men, very successful, in business, in sport, in careers, and every one of them have told me. ”It was only when I met the man from Galilee that I was totally fulfilled.” It’s as the Psalmist says, ”Those who seek the Lord shall lack no good thing.” So maybe it’s your career today. You need to say, ”Lord, I have enjoyed my work but there is something missing.” I’ll tell you what it is, it’s fellowship with God. You see, the Lord created you and me for Himself so that He could have fellowship with us. That’s why He created us. He doesn’t need us, He wants us because He loves us! He doesn’t need anybody. He can do whatever He wants at any time but He really desires that we have fellowship with Him. The purpose of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever. Now today, start to enjoy the Lord and that career that ambition will come automatically.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

We go to the Book of Acts 18:9: ”Now the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, “Do not be afraid, but speak, and do not keep silent; for I am with you, and no one will attack you to hurt you; for I have many people in this city.” Oh, that is probably my most special scripture verse in the Bible. That is the verse which the Lord Jesus Christ Himself called me to preach the Gospel. On the 18th of February, 1979, I got saved, but this scripture was the one where He sent me to preach the Gospel to the ends of the earth. It changed my life completely. I have never been the same since I received that call from the Lord. For me personally, my dear friend, it was a direct instruction from Jesus Himself. Even as He spoke to Paul, He spoke into my heart, exactly the same two verses. Now the same thing happened to the disciples. Matthew stood up, left his money table, he was tax collector, and walked away following Jesus. Peter, Andrew, James, and John left their fishing nets immediately and walked away to follow Jesus. Paul, the tent-maker, exactly the same, left his tent-making business and followed Jesus.  It was a crystal-clear calling! Now I want to say to you today, maybe there’s a young man, a young lady, that’s listening to this message and they say, ”I too want to do the same.” But you need to have a clear scripture from God, and He will speak to you if you give Him the time. It’s no good thinking it’s a good idea because it won’t last, I can tell you right now. I have had more challenges since I have been preaching the Gospel than I ever had in my entire farming career. It is not something you do because you think it’s a good idea. It has to be a call from God because it could cost you every single thing you have. It cost the disciples their very lives, all of them, but there is no other way to live. If you want to live a life full of purpose and meaning, then preach the Gospel. Ask the Lord to give you a clear word and He will do that and then you will do exactly what I have done. I am not farming anymore. I haven’t been farming for over forty years. My sons are farming. I am preaching the Gospel and living my dream.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

This is Jesus speaking: ”And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.” Then we go to the Book of Acts 18:6 and this is Paul speaking: ”But when they opposed him and blasphemed, he shook his garments and said to them,“Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean. From now on I will go to the Gentiles.” These are serious words. I am an evangelist. I’ll go to the other end of the world to see one soul saved, but there comes a time when a person does not want to hear from you any longer. What can you do then? There’s only one thing you can do and that is to pray for that person and move along. You’ve heard the old term, “It’s like flogging a dead horse”. What does that mean? That means beating a horse, trying to get it to stand up, but the animal is dead. It is a waste of time. It is like a farmer in a field, I saw a picture once, he’s in the wrong field. There is a beautiful field of ripe wheat waiting to be harvested, but he is in the next field, which is still green and still growing. He is making an absolute failure of the beautiful green field that is still growing. He needs to leave it until it matures and harvest the field next door, where it is golden and ready for reaping. It’s like going into an orchard and picking green apples before they are ripe. They are wasted. You and I today need to really pray hard and we need to preach the Gospel to those who want to hear it and those who have no desire to turn their hearts to the Lord. That’s what happened with Paul, and Jesus told the disciples the same thing. Move along and you will find somebody that is desperate to hear the Good News.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 14th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Gospel of Luke 24:50-53:“And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them.  Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen.” Wow, what a day! Forty days from the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the tomb to the time that He went back to Heaven to be with His Father. Yes, I am talking about Ascension Day. It is a very important day in the Christian Calendar and it is a glorious and victorious day. I remember it so well. I have been there many times. You go from the Old City where the Temple was standing, down into the Kidron Valley, you go across the Kidron Valley, up the other side, you go passed the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus suffered so terribly for our sins, sweated drops of blood when He was thinking about the crucifixion the next day, then you go right up this hill, right to the very top. When you get to the top, if you carry on, you come to this little village called Bethany, a very special place for Jesus, where His friends Lazarus, Mary, and Martha lived. He spent a lot of time there. But right up on the top of that hill is where the ascension took place, and if you look carefully you can look right across the valley to the other side. That is where the Old City of Jerusalem in situated.Today, just remember one thing. Jesus is not in the grave. He is in Heaven. He is sitting at the right hand of our Heavenly Father and He is coming back very soon. I want to pray a prayer for somebody who is unsure about the future, somebody who says he loves God but he doesn’t really know Jesus. Jesus says unless you are born again, you will never see the Kingdom of Heaven. Why don’t you pray this simple prayer with me right now on Ascension Day:Dear Lord Jesus,Please forgive me for so often doubting You. Today I make a decision to believe what the Bible says about You and on Ascension Day, I surrender my life to You and I ask You to be my Lord and my Saviour and my soon-coming King. We start in the Book of Jeremiah 20:9:“Then I said, “I will not make mention of Him,Nor speak anymore in His name.”But His word was in my heart like a burning fireShut up in my bones;I was weary of holding it back,And I could not.”Folks, Jeremiah had had enough. He was completely ridiculed and he said, “That’s enough Lord, no more, I am not preaching Your word anymore,” but then he said, “But I can’t help it, I have to.” Then we go to the New Testament to the Book of Acts 17:32-33: “And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, “We will hear you again on this matter.” So Paul departed from among them.”Have you ever felt like giving up? Have you ever felt like saying, “Lord, that is the last time I am preaching or speaking or talking to people about Jesus because they don’t listen and they mock me every single time”? That’s what they did with one of the greatest preachers of the whole Bible. I am talking about Paul, the Apostle. The same thing happened with Jeremiah. He said, ‘That’s enough. I am not doing it anymore. They are not listening to me.” Oh, I can identify with these two giants. As a young preacher, I went to a little town in the southern part of our little province. Everything went wrong. I was supposed to speak to a group of people in a hotel. The atmosphere was wrong. The people were waiting for their supper and the supper was late, so when they eventually got down to eating many of them were under the weather. They had been drinking too much alcohol. Then I got up and I preached my heart out. I made an altar call. Not one single person responded. I can laugh about it now, but not that day. I have never felt so naked in my life. I went to the minister’s home where I was sleeping and I said to the Lord, “Lord, that’s the last time. I am not doing this again. They have a church on every street corner in this town. They don’t need me. I am a farmer. I will go back and farm. The Lord spoke to me in my heart and said, “Are you going to do this or aren’t you?” Reluctantly, the next day I got up, and I started to preach again, then the dam burst. Aah, what a harvest we had! And I have never stopped since. <p class=

No Other Gods

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 12th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Gospel of John 14:6. Remember, Thomas said to Jesus, “We do not know the way,”  and “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Then we go to the Book of Acts 17:22: “Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious;…” That was because they were seeking to find the truth. They had many different gods but there was one inscription and it is found in verse 23, and this inscription says,”TO THE UNKNOWN GOD.”Now Paul was speaking to these learned wise men, and he was telling them about Jesus. Of course, when he saw this inscription, he said to them, “This is the Unknown God that you are seeking. His name is Jesus Christ and He is the One that you are worshipping, even if you do not know it.” I want to say to you today, there is no other god, there never was and there never will be. We need to tell people. There are many confused people, good people, and wonderful people, and they believe that all roads lead to Heaven. They do not all lead to Heaven. There is only one God and He has only one Son. His Son is Jesus Christ.Folks, it will make you unpopular. I know that because I have become very unpopular often when I say in love, “there is no other god”. You see, if you say to a person, “I love God”, they will not mind it because God is who you perceive him to be. Some people worship the trees, some people worship the stars, but when you say, “There is only One God and His name is Jesus Christ”, then all Heaven breaks loose! People say, “How can you say that?”  “How can you be so self-righteous?” You say, “No, it's what the word of God says. It is what the Bible says, and we believe He is the Word, as it says in John 1:1. In the beginning was the Word and His name is Jesus. I am so proud to tell people that, and I tell them that He died for all men, not just some men, of different ages, different colours, different creeds.<p class="" data-rte-preserve-empty="true" style="white-space:

Jesus First

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 11th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Deuteronomy 4:24:  “For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.” Then we go to the New Testament, to the Book of Matthew 22:37: “Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ ” This is straightforward, and it is very serious. The Lord says, “There is no other God but Me.” We cannot serve any other god and expect to serve the Lord Jesus Christ as well. I want to say something very seriously this morning. We must never tease God. Do you know what I mean? I mean if you get a young man and a young lady and they go out, and the young lady thinks that if she teases her boyfriend, then he will love her more, or even more seriously, a husband and wife - if the husband starts to look around and play the fool with another woman and then think that his wife will love him more, it actually works in the opposite. It puts a wedge and a division of mistrust in their relationship. Now, the same thing applies with the Lord. The Lord says, “There will be no other gods but Me.” And we need to understand that. I want to ask you a question. Is there any other god that you know of who has died for his people? No, there is no other god, only Jesus Christ who came to earth, He died for our sins that we might be saved. Now, the least we can do is put Him as the most important Person in our lives.I want to tell you, as I am getting older, each day I love Him more intensely. When I think of what He has done for a wretched soul like me. That is why John Newton could write that wonderful hymn,  Amazing Grace: “I once was lost but now I am found, was blind but now I see.” Today, understand one thing. There is no second, third or fourth god in your life. It has to be Jesus Christ, Him, first and foremost, and then secondly, your loved one, your wife, your husband, your child, but Jesus first.God bless you as you put Him first in your life today.Goodbye

Riot or Revival

I greet you in Jesus’ name! It is Sunday morning, the 10th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Acts 17:6:“…These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.” Folks, wherever the Holy Spirit moves, wherever the presence of God is, there is either a riot or a revival! That’s what I’ve experienced in my life, and we must be prepared for it and not be afraid of it, because the Bible tells us clearly in Romans 8:31 that if Christ is for us, then who can be against us? For many years, I was on the other team. I was the one who was trying to make a way for myself. I was the one who was always negative, and these guys that are over the top, I had no time for them, but you know when God touched me, He turned my life upside down, inside out, and I can tell you today that wherever I am with the Lord, He is there before me and I am ready for whatever happens.Just the other day, we had a prayer meeting. When I arrived, I saw two strange men there, fine-looking young men, and I said, ”Welcome to our prayer meeting. Where have you come from?” They said, ”We’ve come from the North Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.” I said, ”What time did you get up this morning to come to the meeting?” They said, ”Quarter to three in the morning.” They want to hear from God. They want to receive from the Lord and that is good news! Do not be surprised when you see things happening that you actually had nothing to do with because God does it.God sent Paul and Silas to preach the Gospel and what happened? Well, absolute chaos and absolute Holy Spirit power, and I want to say to you today that you and I need to be ready for whatever the Lord has got in store for us because I can tell you right now it will not be like it was before. We are living in the last days and the Lord is moving very powerfully. We don’t have to make things happen, not at all. All we have to do is be available, open our mouths and tell people about Jesus. That’s all that Paul and Silas did and they were accused of turning the world upside down. Of course, they were quite right, weren’t they? Because that’s exactly what is happening now. Jesus bless you today as you turn the world upside down simply by telling people who the Son of God is. He is the soon-coming Saviour of the world.<p class="" data-rte-preserve-empty="true" style="white-sp

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 9th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go straight to the Book of Acts 16:37: ”But Paul said to them, “They have beaten us openly, uncondemned Romans, and have thrown us into prison. And now do they put us out secretly? No indeed! Let them come themselves and get us out.” What had happened was, Paul and Silas had been preaching the Gospel. They had been falsely accused. They had been stripped down, beaten, humiliated and put into prison, but once they had been put into prison, the magistrates realised that actually Paul and Silas were Roman citizens. It was forbidden for them to beat citizens of Rome openly and humiliate them. So the magistrates tried to get out of it and told the jailers, ”Let them go secretly.” But Paul, that’s why I love him so much, he said, ”I’m not having this. They must come, those magistrates, apologise and let us out of prison themselves.” Which, of course, they did, they apologised profusely. We need to be careful that we, as believers, are not intimidated by bullies, wherever they may be. Because a man is wearing a uniform, that does not give him the right to do what he pleases to you or me, and I’ll give you an example. If you are going down the highway and a Traffic Officer pulls you over and he walks up to your car and says, ”You have been speeding, breaking the speed limit and you need to pay a fine.” You can say to him, ”Yes Officer, I’m quite prepared to do that, but can you show me evidence on your machine that I was actually speeding?” If he says, ”No, I can’t.” Then you are not obliged to pay anything because it’s his word against yours. He needs to give you evidence. Many years ago I and my young wife Gill, we were just newly married, we were in another country, we were going through the Immigration and Customs and this one officer, quite an otherwise type of person, I don’t know why he didn’t take a liking to me, he pushed a form in front of me and said, "Sign this form so that you can leave the country.” I was about to sign it and this little voice behind me tapped me on the shoulder and said, ”Angus, what are you doing?” I said, ”He’s told me I must sign the forms.” She said, ”No, we are not signing any forms unless we can first read them.” And this man changed his tune all of a sudden and said, ”Yes ok, you can go.” Be careful, you don’t sign your life away, folks. The Word

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 8th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Deuteronomy 4:2:”You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it,…” Then we go straight to the Gospel of Matthew 5:18: “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” Spoken by the Master, Himself. By the way, a jot and a tittle is literally a stroke of a pen or one dot. Nothing is to be changed or compromised. Why? It is for our own good. The Lord did not write the Ten Commandments and the Bible for His good. He is God. He doesn’t have to obey the law. He is the law. We need to be obedient. It is for our own sake. Why? Because it keeps us safe. You see, the Bible is our compass. If you are going through the bush, all by yourself, and you get lost and you have a compass, the compass will lead you out of that jungle - north, south, east, west. It sees us through stormy nights when you can’t sleep at night and you need comfort. The word of God is a comfort. It really is. It is a light unto our feet and it shows us the way. It brings peace and harmony in the home. You know, when mom and dad are arguing, boys and girls, when mom and dad are arguing, boys and girls, you can say, “Dad, mom, what does the Bible say about the situation? And that is the final answer. It brings security when you are feeling unsure of yourself. What does the Bible say. Do what the Bible says. And accountability - when you go on that long trip, sir, and you get tempted, you are lonely and you are by yourself at night, and this beautiful young lady comes and starts to speak to you, the Lord, through the word of God, reminds you that you have a wife and children back at home and they belong to you, not this woman. It is a wonderful friend. Do not change it. It has been there since the beginning of time and this is not a time to try and take one thing away from it or add one thing to it.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

Spiritually Fit

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name!It is Thursday morning, the 7th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Proverbs 6:10-11: ”A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep—So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, …” Then we go to the New Testament to 1 Corinthians 15:58: ”Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.” It’s so important for us, as believers, to keep up the good work. It keeps the soul of a man or woman in good health. We’re talking this morning about spiritual exercise. We need to keep spiritually fit. Bishop Ryle said, ”Activity in doing good is one recipe for being cheerful Christians. It is like exercise to the body and it keeps the soul in good health.”Did you get up early this morning? I trained many, many years ago for the Comrades Marathon, which is held in South Africa every year. It is a gruelling race - two standard marathons plus a few extra kilometres thrown in, but these serious competitors are extremely disciplined. They get up in the morning and they run. They run with lights before the sun comes up. Some of them run in the afternoon or even in the evening but they are disciplined because they know, if they are going to get that medal, whichever medal it might be, they have to be fit.I want to say to you today, spiritually, you and I need to be fit! We need to get up, get out of our beds, go through and have our quiet time with the Lord, read the Bible systematically. We need to pray, read a nice devotional, listen to Christian music, and, most of all, speak to Jesus. When you do that regularly, you get stronger and stronger daily, even as you grow older, not weaker, stronger in the faith.Let’s do it today. Let’s discipline ourselves physically, but more importantly, spiritually, so that God can talk to us!Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

Macedonian Call

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 6th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Acts 16:9: “And a vision appeared to Paul in the night. A man of Macedonia stood and pleaded with him, saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” The one thing I loved about Paul, the Apostle, when I read all those letters, was that he was an obedient man. He was not interested in a good idea because he knew that a good idea is not always a God-idea! When he and Silas were travelling, they were going to go to Phrygia, and the Holy Spirit said, “Don’t go to Phrygia”, then to Mysia, “Don’t go to Mysia, don’t go to Bithynia, don’t go to Troas.” He never went to any of those places in Asia, but he crossed the sea and went to Macedonia, where the Lord Holy Spirit had told him to go. It is very important to do what the Holy Spirit tells you to do, not what other people tell you to do, not to accept every invitation that comes from all over. Only do what God tells you to do. Now, I can really identify with this Macedonian call. Many of you will remember a few years back, I had a Macedonian call, and it was to Cape Town. Cape Town had had no rain for two years. They were in a terrible state, but that is not what called me. It was a Macedonian call, a young man by the name of Ashley, a very dear son in the Lord, whom I did not know. Through a daily reading of Scripture Union I was reading, I got the Macedonian call. I phoned him. He didn’t even know who I was, he thought it was someone playing a trick on him, but when I convinced him that it was me, I said, “I am coming to Mitchell’s Plain.”Now, folks, as soon as people heard we were going to Mitchell’s Plain, they said, “You are mad. You mustn’t go there because those people will hurt you.” I said, “They will not hurt me. God has told me to go there.” And they said to me, ‘But no one will come and support you because no one will go to that area.” Well, we had over 250,000 people there, and by the way, it started raining in the middle of the meeting, and I don’t think it stopped since. Signs, miracles, wonders - the first time in my life, the Holy Spirit again told me to take my clothes off and give them to the young gang leaders who had come forward to give their lives, to change their guns for Bibles. It was an amazing event, probably one of the highlights of my preaching career. Today, listen to the Macedoni

Contention

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 5th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the first book of the Bible, Genesis 4:8: ”Now Cain talked with Abel his brother; and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and killed him.” The very first family in the Bible, and two brothers, were in contention. They had a dispute, and one brother killed the other. Then we go straight to Acts 15:39:”Then the contention became so sharp that they parted from one another.“ Oh, folks, maybe you’ve got contention in your family this morning. Maybe there’s a dispute that you just cannot seem to settle. I want to ask you to really reconsider before you do something that you might regret for the rest of your life. I looked up the word “contention” in the Oxford dictionary. It means a heated disagreement, it means being stroppy with the other, argumentative. Folks, we are talking here about two giants of the faith. We’re talking about a man who actually wrote two-thirds of the New Testament himself. I’m talking about Paul the Apostle, and he fell out, he had a sharp argument with a man, Barnabas, who is regarded in the Bible as “the encourager”, and the two fell out because of an argument over Mark.I want to say to you today, we cannot allow that to happen. We are living in very stressful times, and these heated disagreements must stop. I have seen men lose businesses because they will not settle the argument. They split up and the business fails and goes down. We need each other, we are talking here about relationships. Folks, marriages - it concerns me a lot, the amount of people that are getting divorced, and many times they come to me and I ask them, ”What was the reason? Where did it all start? Is there a third party involved?” “No, no, there’s no one else involved. We just cannot get on.” I want to say to you, it’s not good enough. You need to go back to God and repent. “Yes, but I’ve got my rights, Angus.”  No, you don’t have your rights. If you gave your life to Jesus Christ, you surrendered your rights. We can agree to disagree. We don’t have to agree on everything, but we mustn’t allow these trivial things, because that’s what they are, to dest

He Supplies

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 4th of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Deuteronomy 2:7, in the Old Testament: “For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hand. He knows your trudging through this great wilderness. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you; you have lacked nothing.” Then we go straight to the Book of Philippians 4:19: ”And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” We are living in difficult times, there’s no doubt about it. The price of fuel is skyrocketing, it is affecting people in every sector of life - the transporters, the shops, the farmers, in many, many ways, because without diesel we can’t plough the fields, without diesel we can’t use our vehicles to transport our food, and what happens? The price just keeps going up. It doesn’t matter what form of transport, they are being affected at the moment, but we need to keep focused on the Lord. The Lord reminded the children of Israel that He had supplied their needs for forty years. Why is He not going to do it now? Of course, He’s going to do it, He has always done it and He always will. He looks after His people. You see, the Lord doesn’t say, ”I will give you your wants - no, no, your needs, what you need - food to put on the table every day, clothes that you can look after your children and your family. He will supply your needs and He does it every single day. We need to take our eyes off the situation and focus on the Lord, who will supply our needs. At the moment in South Africa, we are really suffering with that terrible virus called the Foot and Mouth Disease, where the cattle have got huge lesions, sores in their mouths. They cannot eat food, and their hooves are literally falling off. They cannot walk. It is a horrible, horrific sight to see, but we know it has happened before and the Lord has delivered us. He will supply our needs. This disease will pass and the fuel prices will stabilise, but what we need to do in the meantime is thank God that He has never failed us and He is not about to do it now. So let us trust in Him and trust in His goodness towards His people.Jesus bless you and have a

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 3rd of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalm 103:1: ”Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!” The Psalm of David, and then we go to Psalm 121:1-2: ”I will lift up my eyes to the hills—From whence comes my help? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Then the last scripture is found in the Gospel of Luke 19:40, and this is Jesus speaking, “…I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” Isn’t that beautiful?I had the privilege of going to the Drakensberg Boys Choir School, in the mighty Drakensberg mountains and I told those young boys, beautiful singers. I said, ”Don’t let anybody ever look down on you and think that you are not strong.” I said, ”The strongest man in Israel is none other than David who was a worshipper. He was a singer, and he was the one who killed Goliath, the giant, with one stone when he was a young teenager. Don’t look down upon yourselves boys. God has gifted you to be able to sing.”The Tribe of Judah would always go into battle first. They were the singers, and then the rest of the army would follow, and I want to say to you, my dear friend, I don’t know what you’re going through at the moment but whatever it is, start to worship and praise God, and you will be surprised how God will strengthen you!Folks, I want to tell you today, when you are under the whip, it is time to praise the Lord. I brought the word of God to those young boys and they responded by singing to me and I want to tell you, it lifted my very soul, and I want to tell you today to sing up and to praise and worship God and He will heal you. He will set you free. He will give you new vision and new hope! Jesus bless you and a wonderful day. Goodbye.

Walk in Righteousness

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 2nd of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 2 Corinthians 3:6:”… for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”  This is quite a serious and liberating scripture. We cannot live according to the Mosaic law. You can’t - that is why they kept offering sacrifices continually when they were in the desert. When the Holy Spirit came to earth after Jesus went to Heaven, He is the one who convicts us of walking in truth and righteousness. Now, if we look at the Book of Acts 15:24, this is what the apostles sent to the Gentiles, the Greeks, the people that were not Jews, and said to them that you do not have to obey the law, you just have to obey the commandments of God. ”Since we have heard that some who went out from us have troubled you with words, unsettling your souls, saying, “You must be circumcised and keep the law”—to whom we gave no such commandment”  Acts 15:24”that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well.”Acts 15:29 The Lord says that the Holy Spirit will convict you and me to walk in righteousness. We cannot just walk by keeping the law. We can’t do it. That’s why Jesus came down from Heaven to Earth. Now the Westminster Confession says, I love this, this is what they say, "Man’s chief end on this earth is number one, to glorify God and number two, to enjoy Him forever.” Isn’t that so simple? You see, when you glorify God you keep the law by yourself. For example, when I got saved, the first thing I did was stop swearing. The day I gave my life to Christ, I’ve never sworn since then, the Holy Spirit convicted me. I stopped bending the rules. In other words, I stopped telling white lies. The truth is the truth, and I did it willingly. I did many things that did not glorify God, and when I met Him as Lord and Saviour, I automatically stopped doing those things. Now today don’t put a heavy on people. Don’t make them feel guilty. Tell them to love God, and the Holy Spirit will convict them of their sins, and they will start wa

The Love of Christ

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 1st of May, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in 2 Corinthians 5:14: ”For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died;…”  The love of Christ compels us! The love of Christ is so great, it cannot be contained and that is why when somebody meets Jesus Christ for the first time they can’t help themselves. I think they said about me, for the first six months, “You need to lock him up because he’s like a bull in a china shop”, but the fire, the love, the passion! God is so great, and when you realise what He’s done for you, your sins have been forgiven, you’ve been given a new start, you want to tell everybody. What was the last thing that Jesus said to the disciples before He ascended into heaven? Mark 16:15: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel …”  You see, the love of God is too large for anyone to contain. We just can’t keep it to ourselves, can we? His love has moved us to such extremes. His love has the first word and the last word in everything we do. I got saved on the 18th of February, 1979. I know you know that, but you know that man came and had a cup of tea with Gill and me after the service, and he said, ”Did you mean what you did today? I saw you went forward and committed your life to Christ.” I said, ”Of course I did.” He said, ”Well then, tell the first three people you meet tomorrow morning, Monday morning, what you did.” And I did, and I’ve never stopped since.Jeremiah was another one. He was tired of being mocked by the people. He said to the Lord, ”That’s enough. No more. I’m not speaking anymore.” But if you look at Jeremiah 20:9. He said ”but there’s a fire in my bones which constrains me, I can’t help it. I have to tell people about the love of God.” He just couldn’t keep it in!  It is Christ’s love that fuels our passion. It will lead us to where it led Him.Now remember, the love of Christ for this world led Him to the cross. He was despised, rejected. He was crucified because of His love for people. When you love people so intently, lots of people won’t thank you for that. That doesn’t matter. Don’t judge them, just continue to love them, and I want to tell you

Trials and Tribulation

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 30th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Job 13:15: ”Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” That’s unconditional surrender, and being a farmer myself and looking at his life, you know he suffered very, very much, but at the end of his life, everything he lost, the Lord gave him back a hundred-fold. Then we go to the Book of Acts 14:22. This is Paul: ”…strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, “We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.” In the Message Translation, it says, “Anyone signing up for the kingdom of God has to go through plenty of hard times.” Are you going through a tough time at the moment? You know what concerns me sometimes? Many preachers will say, “Come to Jesus, and all your problems will be over.” That’s not the truth. Come to Jesus, and He will give you new life. Jesus never promised you or me a bed of roses when we gave our lives to Him. He never said that He would take us out of the fire, did He? No, what He said was, He will walk with us through the fire and that is good news.I want to tell you that since I’ve given my life to the Lord, I’ve experienced more trials, tribulations, and hardships than before I became a Christian, but the only difference is that the hardships that I am suffering now are worthwhile. I am in the winning team. Are you in the winning team today? I hope so, because for us, home time is very near and what a life that is going to be. So today, do not despair if you are going through a hard time. Remember, the Lord told us clearly in Hebrews 13:5:“I will never leave you nor forsake you.” Jesus bless you today and have a wonderful, peaceful, joyful day. Goodbye.

Will of God

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 29th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to 2 Chronicles 16:9a: “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.”  The Lord is looking for a man, a woman this morning that He can trust. He wants to support you, He wants to make you strong, and He wants you to speak up. Then we go to John 4:34: “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.”I want to ask you a question this morning. What gets you up early in the morning? What is the thing that gets you excited every time? I have two sons. My second son, if you want to get him up and going, you talk to him about horses. He is our “horse whisperer” on the farm. He knows more about horses than anybody else I know. From a little boy, when he was still in nappies, I used to take him for rides on my horse, and now he is a horseman who is second to none. In fact, he has people on his farm. He brings in young folk, and he teaches them the finer points of horsemanship. If you want to make him start talking to you, just mention horses. Then I have three grandsons and these boys are into paddling. They get into that canoe and they paddle. They have got medals to prove it.  If you want to get them going, talk to them about paddling. Then I have got another two grandsons. These boys are ceded Number 1 and Number 2 in their school in tennis. If you want to get them talking to you, talk about tennis. Then I have another two grandsons and their whole focus is on horses as well, roping horses, gentling horses, starting horses and these boys can ride. And then yours truly. If you want to get me talking, ask my wife, you speak to me about preaching, about the Gospel, about speaking to men and women about Jesus, and I will talk to you until the cows come home. We need to understand one thing. Jesus said, “My meat is to the will of Him who has sent me.“  Today, it doesn’t matter what we do in life, remember the most important thing, and by the way, all those young boys and my sons that I have spoken about, all of them love Jesus Christ with a passion.<p class="" data-rte-preserve-empty="true" style="white-space

Pass It On

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 28th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Book of Deuteronomy 1:9 and this is Moses speaking: “And I spoke to you at that time, saying: ‘I alone am not able to bear you.” In other words, ‘I can’t do it on my own. There are too many of you.” Then we go to Luke 6:13. “And when it was day, He called His disciples to Himself; and from them He chose twelve whom He also named apostles…” Even the Lord Jesus Christ, Himself, would not do it alone. I am not saying that He couldn’t, but He wouldn’t. He appointed others. You and I cannot do it alone. We were never meant to.  We need to learn to delegate and not leave it too long. We must pass it on, otherwise, we will lose it all. Jesus passed it on. I am talking to that old farmer. It is time to pass the baton on to your son. I am talking to that businesswoman. You cannot continue at the pace you are going. You need help and if you don’t take it, you are going to lose it all. I am talking about that career. If you want that career to blossom, you need to share it with others. I will never, ever forget in the year 2010, we had possibly the largest men's meeting on this farm, Shalom, something like 450,000 men on this farm. Unbelievable! We have got the evidence to show you. The Holy Spirit clearly said to me, “Now you need to pass it on.” I said to the boys, “It is the last one on this farm. We need to go out and multiply what God is doing, and has been doing on this farm.”Well, I got a lot of criticism. A lot of people wrote in, “What are you trying to do? Are you trying to stop the revival?” “No, I am doing what God told me to do.” And do you know, since then, the Mighty Men movement, which was designed to help women and children, has exploded. As I record this message, we have a delegation coming back from Texas, USA. They have just had a Mighty Men Conference there. Very shortly, we will be going to Walvis Bay in Namibia to have a Mighty Men conference. They are taking place all over the world. If you don’t pass it on, it will die. Today, pass it on and God will give you even more.Jesus bless you and goodbye.</p

Trust in Jesus

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 27th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalm 20:7:”Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”  Who are you trusting today? Are you trusting a certain organisation? Are you trusting in a certain person? No, there is only One we can trust in, and His name is Jesus!Let’s go now to the Book of Acts 14:19: ”Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.” One minute a hero! If you read a few verses before, you’ll see they wanted to worship Paul and Barnabas because they saw how Jesus had healed a lame man, and now, because of persuasive words from other people from Antioch and Iconium, they turned on him and stoned him. Now, in those days, when you got stoned, that was the death penalty. Paul must have been in a terrible state and yet the next morning he was up on his feet again. What a man!I’ll never forget a Rugby Cup Final, being played at King’s Park Rugby Stadium in Durban between our team, the Sharks, and the Blue Bulls from Pretoria. The score was hanging in the balance. We were winning the cup. There were a couple of points in it. The referee issued a penalty to our team. All our little scrum half had to do was kick the ball out, and the game was over, but he didn’t. He argued with the ref. The ref told him to be quiet. He carried on arguing. The ref turned the penalty around and gave it to the Blue Bulls, and up came their champion kicker, and he kicked that ball through the posts, and they beat us by one point. I want to tell you, from a hero, he became an absolute villain. I think he had to be escorted off the field. The crowd just turned instantly. That is how easy it is to change things! We need to put our trust in the Lord. What about Jesus Himself, when He was coming into Jerusalem before the Passover, they were worshipping Him, throwing their clothes on the road and cutting down palm branches. The next day, literally within a couple of hours, they were screaming out, “Crucify Him”, crucify the Darling of Heaven. Let’s not do that today. Let’s put our tr

Time to Fly

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 26th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the fifth book of Moses, Deuteronomy 1:6: “The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain.“Then of course, we go to Isaiah 40:31: ”But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” You and I have dwelt long enough at this mountain. It is time to move forward now. We are praying for courage. Yes, Lord Jesus, we need more courage, more strength, more fortitude. I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to find out the literal meaning of the word “fortitude”. It means bravery, endurance, resilience, mettle, strength of character, backbone, grit or just plain guts! Folks, we’ve dwelt at this mountain long enough. It is time to move forward now. Most of all, we need godly wisdom. It’s time to fly out of that comfortable nest and to move forward for the Lord.I always think of the example of the mother eagle. When the chicks get old enough, mother says, “It is time to move forward, you’ve been in this nest long enough”, and slowly but surely she starts to throw all the comfortable little bits that she’s put in there for the chicks and it becomes very bare. Then she starts pulling out the sticks, and there’s nothing left but a rocky ledge, and then she literally edges her babies off the edge of the cliff. They have to fly and she watches them, and if they don’t quite get it the first time, she catches them on her wings, takes them to the top and does it again, until they fly.The Lord says to you and me today, we have dwelt long enough at this mountain. Envy

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 25th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Acts 13:45: ”But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul.” If we go down a little bit further to verse 49: ”And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region.” Then we go down a little bit further to verse 50. Paul and Barnabas were then expelled from their region. Envy - envy is a terrible thing folks, and what does envy mean? I was speaking to my wife about it. I said, “What do you think the definition of envy is?” She said, “Somebody wanting to be like you, whoever that person may be, or wanting to have what you have.”Now, the Jews saw how the multitudes were responding to the Gospel of Paul and Barnabas preaching about Jesus, and they became envious. They wanted what they had, but they didn’t have it and they were not prepared to change. We have to be so careful about how we conduct ourselves. Remember the old story about the old preacher who was accused by all the local churches in town of sheep-stealing, taking members of their churches and bringing them to his church. He said, “No, I am not sheep-stealing,” he said, “but if the grass is greener on my side of the fence, I can’t stop the sheep jumping over the fence!”Oh, my dear friend, we don’t have to be envious of anyone. All we have to do is preach the Gospel. That is what Paul said to Timothy. Preach the Gospel, not a type of Gospel, not a compromised Gospel - the whole Gospel, not changing it to suit the crowd! People don’t like that. People want the truth, they want it straight, and they want it from the heart, filled with lashings of love. Perfect love casts out all fear! 1 John 4:18We really need to get our act together. No one should be left out. If people envy you, well, you know what the Lord Jesus said - He said in Luke 6:23, He said: “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy for indeed your reward is great in Heaven.” <p class="" data-rte-preserve-em

The Best Investment

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 24th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Numbers 23:19:“God is not a man, that He should lie,…”  Then we go to the Book of Revelation 22:12, Jesus speaking: “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me,…”God is not a man that He should lie. We can rely on Him. Who can you rely on these days, my dear friend? But we can rely on Him. Whatever He has promised, Jesus will fulfil. The best investment that you and I will ever make on this earth is better than the Stockmarket. Remember what happened in 1929? The Wall Street Crash. It triggered the Great Depression. The Stockmarket just fell apart overnight. Men who were multi-billionaires woke up in the morning and found themselves paupers. Everything they had was lost, to the extent that some just committed suicide. They literally jumped out of the windows of their skyscrapers. Who can we trust? What is a good investment? Well, I want to tell you the best investment you will ever make, my dear friend, is investing in Jesus Christ. Yes, we have to live in this life, but our hope and our trust must be sure, and it must be in the Son of God. Jesus said He is coming back. I can hear somebody saying, “Oh ja, but He has been saying that for 2000 years.” I want to tell you, in God’s economy, a thousand years is like the blinking of an eye. Time is not a problem with God. If God has said it, He will do it. He has never, ever once let me down, not in my whole life, and He won’t let you down either. Today, put your investment, your trust, put your future, put everything you have in the name of Jesus Christ and His word. You will sleep better, you will be much more joyful, your investment is growing every moment that you walk with God, and the best news of all is, He is coming very soon! Jesus bless you and have a wonderful, peaceful, hopeful day.Goodbye.

Open Your Spiritual Eyes

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 23rd of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in Psalm 2:7. The Lord says of Jesus: ”You are My Son, today I have begotten You.”  Then we go to the Book of Hebrews 1:5, the exact same scripture: “You are My Son, today I have begotten You”  You can go to Acts 13:33 -  the same thing! Oh folks, He is everywhere. Jesus is the most mentioned person in the whole Bible. There are 66 books, and He’s in every single one, because Jesus is the Word. John 1:1: ”In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” There are none so blind as those who don’t want to see!I want to say to that lady listening this morning, that old widow who is missing her husband and maybe her children, Jesus is with you. He is everywhere! When the astronauts circled the Earth, they acknowledged that God was present in the universe. You can go to the highest mountain, Mount Everest, He is there! You can go into the deepest canyon, the deepest mine on earth, He is there! Why? Because He lives inside you, my dear friend. He walks with you. He is with you every moment of the day. You never have to be lonely again if you can ask God to open your spiritual eyes. Now, I want to pray for you this morning, and I want you to pray after me:Heavenly Father, In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, by the power of Your Holy Spirit, please open my spiritual eyes today that I may see You,that I may see You in the stars that shine at night;in the sun that rises in the morning;that I might see You in Your creation;that I might see You in that newly born baby; that I might see You in that lovely old gentleman; that I might see You in all Your glory! I ask this in Your precious name, amen.Have a wonderful day as you open your spiritu

Wait Upon the Lord

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Wednesday morning, the 22nd of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the word of God, Psalms 62:5: ”My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him.” We need to really come aside and wait upon God only. I want to read something to you that I saw in a book from an unknown author. I think this is very appropriate for you and me, especially me, because I’m one of those who talk too much and listen too little, but I’m going to trust God to change that.Listen to this beautiful little reading: ”Did it ever occur to you that if you do not hear God’s answer to prayer, it may be not because He is dumb but because you are deaf, not because He has no answer to give but because you have not been listening for it. We are so busy with our service, so busy with our work, and sometimes so busy with our praying that it does not occur to us to stop our own talking and listen, if God has some answer to give us with that still small voice! To be passive, to be quiet and to do nothing, say nothing and in some true sense, think nothing, simply to be receptive and waiting for the voice. “Wait thou only upon God”, says the psalmist and again, “wait on the Lord.”I really believe that is a very special word for a lot of busy people. I’m one of them, I’ve already told you that. We need to listen more. We need to speak less and sometimes, absolutely do nothing. Just listen so that He can talk to us and give us clear instructions as to what the future holds for us.Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day. Goodbye.

A Calling

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 21st of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to Jeremiah 1:5 (Amplified Version): “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you [and approved of you as My chosen instrument], And before you were born I consecrated you [to Myself as My own]; I have appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” Yes, we are talking about a calling. Then we go straight to the Book of Acts 13:2: “Set apart for Me Barnabas and Saul (Paul) for the work to which I have called them.” Being set apart for a particular work by the Holy Spirit. I want to make something very clear this morning, my dear friend. A calling is not a good idea, a calling comes from God Himself. It is an important work. I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to find out the meaning of the word “commission”. It is an instruction. It is not something you have decided you will do because things are not working out for you in your employment or in the country you are staying in, or maybe even in your marriage. No, you have to work through things. A calling is specifically from God for a purpose, and by the way, it doesn’t always go easy, so don’t think “I will just go and serve the Lord and that will be much easier than doing the job as a representative in some company or working in some construction work or mining. Whatever God has put you to, don’t try and run away from it. A calling comes from God. Now, I want to tell you a beautiful little story that I heard from my producer just the other day. He and his wife and family went up to Lesotho to do an outreach, and while they were sitting there quietly, a young man told this story. He said he was working in South Africa, and one day he turned on the TV and there was Angus Buchan talking about serving the Lord. He was not serving the Lord at the time. He said it was the first time he saw a preacher crying on the television. I was probably quite overwhelmed - that happens quite often, especially these days - and told the story about how God had changed his life and called him, and he got on his knees in front of the television and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. He then left his secular work, went back to Lesotho and started ministering to the shepherds. And of course, my producer and his family were sitting there and they were absolutely shocked because he was telling them clearly, how he was cal

Miracles

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 20th April , 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Acts 12:18:”Then, as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter.“ Now, folks, I want you to understand something. If you cannot believe in miracles, then you cannot believe the Bible because I’m going to show you a miracle that is unbelievably miraculous. It cannot be explained. If you read Chapter 12 of the Book of Acts, you’ll see that Peter the Apostle was arrested by Herod’s soldiers and put in prison. Four squads of soldiers were there to keep him from escaping because they were going to kill him after the Passover. He was bound with two chains between two soldiers and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. He was sleeping, and he had a soldier on either side, and he was in chains. Then the angel of the Lord came into the prison and literally set Peter free. When they were past the first and second guard posts, they came to an iron gate that led to the city. It was open to them of it’s own accord supernaturally, and it caused no small stir because the next day the guards couldn’t find him, he was gone.Folks, I believe in miracles! Wherever Jesus walked on this earth, He caused either a riot or a revival, but nothing in between. Just a few days ago, I met a young man at the airport. His name is Dean. I said, ”Dean, where are you going?” He said,” I’m going to Cape Town.” I said,” Why?” He said, ”Because I’m sick and I have to go to the specialist in Cape Town to see if they can heal me.”  So I said, ”Do you believe in miracles?” Of course he did. I prayed for him in the departure lounge, I laid my hands on him and I prayed that God would heal him.Well, not two, three days later, I got a message to say that he has just got a report from the doctors in Cape Town. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him. He is completely healed and he can go home. That is a miracle! Trust Jesus today for your miracle. I want to pray for you: Father, I pray in Jesus name that the person who is listening to this message will claim their healing, their miracle. <p class="" data-rte-preserve-empty="true" style="white-space:pre-

Responsiblity

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 19th of April, 2026 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Old Testament, in the Book of Numbers 32:32: ”We will cross over armed before the Lord into the land of Canaan, but the possession of our inheritance shall remain with us on this side of the Jordan.” Now the situation was, as they were going to go across into the land of milk and honey, the Children of Israel, there were two and a half tribes that asked Moses if they could remain on the other side of the Jordan, because they were cattlemen and they were shepherds, and the land was good and the grass was good and they didn’t want to go across. So Moses sought counsel from the Lord. The Lord said, ”Yes, they can stay there, but first they have an obligation, they have a responsibility, they need to go with all the other tribes across the River Jordan and fight and defeat the enemy, and then when the battle has been won they can return back, to the other side of the Jordan, and that’s when they can have their inheritance.”Then we go to the New Testament, 1 Timothy 5:8. The Lord says: “But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.” We’ve got to get things right first at home before we try and help anybody else. We’ve got to take care of our wives, our children, and our husbands before we go to the mission fields, as it were. What happened with those two and a half tribes, the tribe of Rueben, Dan and Manasseh, they were very happy to stay back. Moses said, ”Okay but you must fulfil your obligation. First, you must help your family get established across the river, then you can return. You know what is very sad for me, and I am in full-time ministry, is when I hear of young people that get so excited, they meet Jesus, now they want to serve the Lord and they want to save the world, and that’s wonderful. That passion is very exciting, I was one of them, but the Lord says, before you do that, you make sure your young wife, your husband, your children are well equipped and taken care of and then you can fulfil the calling of God on your life. There’s nowhere in the Bible that you can show me where the Lor

Hearing from God

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Saturday morning, the 18th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Exodus 19:3: “And Moses went up to God, and the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the children of Israel.”  Moses went up the mountain to hear from God. Then we go to the Gospel of Luke 6:12: “Now it came to pass in those days that He (that’s Jesus) went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.” People often ask me, “How do we hear from God?” It’s a good question. Jesus went up the mountain and spent the whole night in prayer so that He could hear a word from His Heavenly Father. Moses did the same. He went up Mount Sinai to hear the word from God. That is how you hear from God. First of all, by getting up early in the morning. There is an old saying, I will never forget it, it goes like this: “First the mountain and then the ministry” - not the other way around. When we talk about the mountain, we are not talking about 5 minutes or while you are driving to work, ladies, to drop the children off at school, or gentlemen, while you are on your way to work. No, that’s not a quiet time. That is not hearing from God. We need to spend time in the presence of God, not for five minutes. This is how we hear from God: We read our Bibles systematically, every single morning. If you are not in that habit, I would encourage you to start in the Book of Psalms. Read a portion of each psalm, every single morning, starting from Psalm Number 1. Then go straight into the New Testament, start in the Gospel of John, and start reading five or ten verses every day. Then get your little notebook and write what God has said to you. There is no abracadabra, there is no magical way of doing it. If you want to hear from God, you have to spend time with God, reading your Bible every single day, meditating and praying. Give Him time so He can speak to you.Quieten your spirit down so that you can hear, and then God will speak to you every single day. Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day.Goodbye.

Always With Us

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Friday morning, the 17th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the Gospel of Matthew 28:20, and this is Jesus speaking:  “…and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” Isn’t that a beautiful promise for you today? The Lord says, “all the days”.F B Meyer, that wonderful man of God, wrote a beautiful little passage, and this is what he says: “All the days” He says: “in winter days, when joys are fled; in sunless days, when the clouds return again and again after rain; in days of sickness and pain; in days of temptation and perplexity, as much as in days when the heart is as full of joy as the woodlands in spring are full of song. That day never comes when the Lord Jesus is not at the side of His saints, (that’s you and me!) Lover and friend may stand afar, but He walks with them through the fires; He fords with them the rivers; He stands by them when face to face with the lion. We can never be alone. We must always add His resources to our own when making our calculations.”Jesus will never leave us and He will never forsake us. We know that scripture, don’t we? It is found in Hebrews 13:5, and that is good news, so we can indeed do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens us! (Philippians 4:13)Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,Goodbye.
