The area was first worked in joint venture between Anglo and Rio half a century ago, but access issues prevented any meaningful follow-up, until now. The accuracy of historic work has been verified, and new work is set to prove up two zones initially, with the potential in time, says Williams, for developing a district-scale area. The Canadian gold projects are earlier stage, but a full exploration programme this year should set them up for drilling this year. Around 2,000 metres of RC drilling is planned over the summer, and the company is well-funded, so there could be significant follow-up work going into the autumn. Meanwhile, a bulk sample has been sent away for testing, and Ed himself is off to Washington next week to put Great Western's name in front of some influential people.

The company has been working up its Kalayi and Mont Agoma projects for some time now, and will seek to put them in a wider geological context with the airborne survey. Pinnacle Silver and Gold is now ready to start underground drilling at its El Potrero project in in Mexico. The company has been rehabilitating the underground workings and preparing drill stations for some time, and now the first mine, Pinos Cuates, is ready, with two old other mines set to follow along behind. Once the underground drilling is complete the plan is then to initiate a surface campaign over a much wider footprint, and to look towards building up enough data to compile a resource. Watch on YouTubeECR is acquiring Paleogold Ltd, an Australian gold company with several significant gold assets. It takes the total number of assets in the ECR portfolio to ten, and means that by the end of the year the company will likely be running three separate gold producing operations. The latest deal is being funded by a complex combination of shares, cash, and convertible notes, but nearly all of the payment is deferred. The idea is that these new operations will end up paying for themselves. Nick Tulloch, ECR's chairman joins Vox to explain how it all fits together.

Serval Resources (currently trading at Oscillate Plc on Aquis) will list on Aim within the fortnight, offering investors a suite of copper assets in Botswana and Namibia. Chief executive Robin Birchall is an old hand at mining and knows his way around the capital markets. For Serval he's secured some serious cornerstone investors and has managed to raise around £3 million, notwithstanding the volatile and uncertain macroeconomic environment created by the Iran war. The plan is to get on the ground in Africa in double quick time, and work the assets up to the point where Serval merits a billion dollar valuation. Will it happen? Well, commodities prices are good, Serval has an excellent and experienced team, and a suite of assets that Birchall claims are some of the best in the region.
