Passion and Determination Against All Odds–Unraveling The Mystery of Cleopatra's tomb

In this week's episode, I sit down with the incomparable, former Lawyer, National Geographic Explorer, and world-renowned Archaeologist, Dr. Kathleen Martinez - known for her ongoing search for Cleopatra's tomb at Taposiris Magna temple in Egypt.  From the age of 4 or 5, Kathleen dreamed of one day becoming an archaeologist and working in Egypt. Her parents did not support her dream; they thought it futile. So, like her father, she studied law. Kathleen tells us the extraordinary story of her first case at the age of 18 that caught the eye of the most high-profile criminal attorney in the Dominican Republic. She ultimately practiced law for the next 19 years and then went to Spain to get her Masters in Law.  In Spain, her childhood dream was rekindled, and she took classes in archaeology and researched Cleopatra and where her tomb might be with great intensity. After 5 years, she returned to the Dominican Republic and for the next 4 years, she enjoyed great success in her legal practice, but she wasn't happy.  So, in 2004, Kathleen decided to leave her practice and move to Egypt to pursue her dream and see if her ideas and belief in the possible location of the tomb of Queen Cleopatra at Taposiris Magna was correct. The Egyptian Government gave Kathleen 2 months to find some kind of evidence. One hour before the Government shut down her project, Kathleen and her team discovered a tunnel, and the Government allowed her to continue her excavation.  We talk about the many unimaginable setbacks Kathleen has experienced during her 20 years of excavating at the temple, her meetings with the Egyptian Government, and her relentless pursuit of finding Cleopatra's tomb, against all odds.  Kathleen goes into great detail on how she determined the possible location of Cleopatra's tomb, a location where no other archaeologist has ever looked. For 200 years, archaeologists searched for the important foundation plate at Taposiris Magna temple and never found it. Kathleen found the foundation plate in 3 months.  You will be totally captivated by Kathleen's detailed stories of her findings thus far and her work with world-renowned Richard Ballard, Oceanographer and Explorer, who is credited with discovering the wreck of the Titanic.  An extraordinary, highly accomplished woman, raised in a third world country – on mission impossible, with the wind at her back. You won't want to miss this interview. A truly remarkable ongoing story of passion and determination against all odds.  Watch the full episode, available on YouTube: https://youtu.be/88FxQLjLtVI

The Power of Education, Passion, Drive and AI with Dr. Frank Naeymi-Rad

In today's episode, we are joined by Dr. Frank Naeymi-Rad, Philanthropist, Co-Founder of IMO – 'Intelligent Medical Objects' - a publicly listed company, and Founder & Executive Chairman of 'Leap of Faith' Technologies. He turned his doctoral research into a business that has become the premier terminology vendor for Electronic Health Records and is now used by about 85% of all physicians and nurses in English-speaking countries. He tells the extraordinary lengths he went to get on his feet when he first came to the US from Iran as a student. His excitement in knowing that if you work hard, you can make it in the United States even when you start with nothing. He explains the importance of electronic health records and how AI can play an important role in the patient journey, with the use of AI agents as care companions who are provided with journey instructions from the provider. It's a peek into the future, where AI agents could gather information from the patient after their doctor's visit, then provide the data they gather to the problem-solving AI agent, who can then become an asset for the provider who is caring for the patient. Dr. Naeymi-Rad talks about the various stages of building a value proposition after developing an idea and what it takes to turn your idea into a successful business. He tells us about the internship he is running, "See One, Do One, Build One" with 25 Masters in Computer Science interns. He goes on tell us that he invested in Leap of Faith Technologies to use it as a vehicle to support startups in the space of patient engagement. We finish our discussion with his Publications and Patents, AI and what excites him today in his field and his philanthropic endeavors. Truly one of the most humble, interesting and fascinating people I have ever met. Watch the full episode, available on YouTube: https://youtu.be/97QCTvbdXb0

Gregg Field, drummer and multi-Grammy and Emmy-winning music producer shares a lifetime of anecdotes proving that when you follow your passion, doors will start opening for you.

In today's episode, I sit down with Gregg Field, a music industry powerhouse, and one of the most versatile and highly sought-after producers, drummers, and educators in the music industry. Gregg tells us about his extraordinary life-changing moment at the age of 17 that propelled him to become one of the most coveted drummers in the music industry. He went on to tour with Count Basi, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and Ella Fitzgerald. It was during this time he met Henry Mancini, one of the greatest music composers of all time. Gregg tells us that what he learned way back then, was that where he puts his time and his passion, doors start opening, and that is the technique he uses today to create opportunities. We talk about his Vanity Fair article on Frank Sinatra's last concert, and the book he is writing about well known people he has worked with in his illustrious career that will be released in 2025. We hear his recollection of the Ella Fitzgerald Tribute concert at the Apollo Theatre in New York, for what would have been Ella's 100th birthday. For sure, Gregg's recount of this night will give you goosebumps. Our entire conversation is earmarked with "coincidentally, I get this call" or "coincidentally this person comes up to me….." and then a new and fabulous chapter in Gregg Field's life ensues. Like 8 Grammys for music producing, engineering and directing. His time and passion has always been triumphant in opening doors. It's like he has had Guardian Angels encircling him with love and light his entire life, and kept him incredibly humble along the way. Gregg tells us about how he got involved in Festival Napa Valley and became a Producer who brings in artists outside of the classical world. We talk about the Frost School of Music and its extraordinary Dean - Shelly Berg, and the Frost School of Music's Henry Mancini Orchestra. We get the inside scoop on how his Grammy-nominated "Henry Mancini 100th Sessions – Henry has Company" album came together. You won't want to miss Gregg's story about this extraordinary gathering of famous musicians and yet another 'coincidental' story….. The album was released on June 21, 2024 and was No. 1 on Apple Music and outsold Taylor Swift. Now that is saying something! And finally, be sure to watch his 'PBS Great Performances – Henry Mancini Live from the Hollywood Bowl' Special. It is a truly, heart-warming concert you won't want to miss. She tells the story of how she got into the fashion industry with her first husband in Florence, building a very successful company with 300 people working for her, and ultimately giving it all up to follow a man she fell in love with who lived in San Francisco. Her fascinating story goes on to tell how she developed 12 Gucci Franchises in the United States for Joseph Magnin in San Francisco and then started her own company, Manetti Farrow, with her second husband. Together, they were instrumental in internationalizing Gucci, Fendi and Mark Cross throughout America.
