As a musical genre, heavy metal (and all it's sub-genres) has only existed for 50 years, but in that time there have been a great many happenings that we have collectively forgotten. In this podcast Nik Cameron and Duncan Evans will be going through albums, concerts, etc in a vain glorious attempt to remember it all. We contextualize the subject and then we take it track by track. In the end, we'll tell you if you should spin it or bin it.

Why listen

The Department of Metal Antiquities is for rock and metal fans who love the weird side roads: solo debuts, forgotten supergroups, odd career pivots, and albums that history filed in the wrong drawer. Nik Cameron and Duncan Evans set up the context, go track by track, and end with a plain verdict on whether each record deserves a spin or a bin. It works especially well if you enjoy opinionated music history with deep cuts, jokes, and enough nerdy detail to send you back to the album afterward.
