Five truths standout about Jesus: I. It means that God was fulfilling prophecy before their eyes. Acts 2:16–18 — " 16 but this is what was spoken of through the prophet Joel: 17 ‘And it shall be in the last days,’ God says, ‘That I will pour forth of My Spirit on all mankind; And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, And your young men shall see visions, And your old men shall dream dreams; 18 Even on My bondslaves, both men and women, I will in those days pour forth of My Spirit And they shall prophesy.” A. Prophecy with universal translation was evidence of the initial pouring of the Holy Spirit. 1. The audience understood what was being said. v.11 “we hear them in our own tongues” B. This was the sign of prophecy. 1. Prophecy Defined –v11 “speaking of the mighty deeds of God” a. They were declaring divine truth under the power and utterance of the Holy Spirit. II. It means that the Glorious Day of Lord is fast approaching. A. The Lord’s Glory will come with even greater signs. Acts 2:19–21 — " 19 ‘And I will grant wonders in the sky above And signs on the earth below, Blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke. 20 ‘The sun will be turned into darkness And the moon into blood, Before the great and glorious day of the Lord shall come.” B. Salvation will require trusting on the Name of the Lord. Acts 2:21 “And it shall be that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’” 1. How does one call on the name of the LORD? We believe the mighty deeds of God. III. It means that Jesus of Nazareth is the LORD of our salvation. A. What is the proof? 1. He was attested by God through miracles. Acts 2:22 — “Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus the Nazarene, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know—” 2. He was put to death by godless men. Acts 2:23 — " this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death.” 3. He was raised to life by God’s power. Acts 2:24 — "But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.” a. Resurrection was the prophetic requirement for the Son of God (v25-28). b. Jesus’ resurrection was verified by the eye witness that stood before them (v32). IV. It means Jesus Himself sent the Holy Spirit from the right hand of the Father. Acts 2:33 —“Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear.” V. It means that Jesus is Lord and Messiah of our salvation. Acts 2:36 — " 36 “Therefore let all the house of Israel

https://www.sunnysidebaptist.us/ “Growing the Kingdom in Our Heart” Three truths for Christian to treasure in our heart. I. Certain things to believe to get to get to God’s house. A. We need to believe in God AND the Son. – This is the WHO. John 14:1–4 — "1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. B. We need to know where we are going – This is the PLAN. V2 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. 4 “And you know the way where I am going.”” C. Only Jesus Christ can take us to the Father’s house. -This is the WHY. John 14:6 — "Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.” 1. Jesus is the only path that leads to the Father. 2. Jesus is the only truth about God. Juan 1:18 — " Nadie ha visto jamás a Dios; el unigénito Dios, que está en el seno del Padre, Él le ha dado a conocer.” 3. Jesus is the only source and means to eternal life. -John 5:24 — “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. II. Praying for laborers. A. The amount of Laborers is a deep concern for the Lord. Luke 10:2 — " And He was saying to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” B. Does your prayer life include praying that the lost will heart the gospel? 1. We are asking that would make us more evangelistic and kingdom minded. 2. We are asking that God would wake up other believers to proclaim the good news. 3. We are praying that our church make disciples that will make other disciples. - 2 Timothy 2:2 C. Application: When we pray for our ONE, we are also praying that God would keep sending them laborer that with the word of God. III. Worshipping through Evangelism. A. Proclaiming the Gospel is part of our worship to God. Psalm 96:1–3 — "1 Sing to the Lord a new song; Sing to the Lord, all the earth. 2 Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. 3 Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.” B. The great commission was already in the worship of the Psalms. 1. We are commanded to sing (all the earth). 2. We are commanded to proclaim (good tiding of His salvation). C. Proclaiming good tiding is to be a DAILY form of worship -v2b. D. Christ Jesus commands all believers to proclaim the same: 1. Mark 16:15 — 2. Luke 24:46–47 — E. Application: We need to approach

https://www.sunnysidebaptist.us/ “Submit to One Another” There is greatness in subjection to one another. I. We are to follow Christ in subjection. -- How? A. Be subject to one another. Ephesians 5:21 - “and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.” B. Definition: to yield to another’s admonition or advice; to obey someone, be subject to. 1. In non-military use, it was “a voluntary attitude of giving in, cooperating, assuming responsibility, and carrying a burden”. C. Passage context (v15-20): Subjection is the last instruction that fulfills three principles for spiritual readiness: 1. Being careful how we live for Christ, 2. Making the most of our time on earth, and so 3. Understanding the will of the Lord. D. Our subjection should be done in the fear of Christ. 1. Christ, not the Father (Jn 5:22), is to be our judge. Thus our reverential fear of displeasing Christ is the motive for doing our duties as Christians. II. There is a pattern of subjection in the God head. A. Christ Jesus always subjected His will to that of God the Father. 1. John 6:38 — “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” 2. Matthew 20:28 — "just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”” B. Subjection displays the attitude of Christ to accomplish great things for God. Philippians 2:5–7 — "5 Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, 7 but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.” C. The eternal state will be inaugurated by a great subjection: 1 Corinthians 15:28 — "When all things are subjected to Him, then the Son Himself also will be subjected to the One who subjected all things to Him, so that God may be all in all.” III. What are the benefits of being subject to one another? Matthew 20:25–27 — "25 But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. 26 “It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, 27 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave;” A. Mutual subjection makes servanthood possible. 1 Peter 5:5 — "… clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, for God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” 1. We have to give in to one another’s needs. 2. We need to prefer our brother’s needs above our own. 3. We need to subject our will to that of the Holy Spirit as we fellowship with others. B. Mutual subjection will distinguish the great from the small in the Kingdom of God.<
