One recent study reports that teens spend an astounding 10 hours every day on their cell phones, with tweens (ages 8-12) logging in at nearly 6 hours. Adults, on average, devote four hours and 25 minutes to scrolling. This means adults will spend over two months on their phones this year. When you consider that most Christians only spend a handful of hours each week worshiping, studying the bible, and in fellowship, we have to ask if we are being discipled more by our devices than anything else. In the 1970s even, what shaped youth was school, parents, community, perhaps church, and books and music; sometimes TV. But now capturing hearts and minds in these last days is a simple scroll away.  Are we keeping up? How can the church counter any of its influence? Is it too late? It’s not about facts that we can convincingly debate, it’s spiritual, and people already have their own preconceived ideas and emotional investments concerning God, and life and death. Is that landscape conducive to contending for the faith? Jay helps the listener understand that there is a way to stick with biblical “starting points” to seek to convince people that 1) God exists and 2) the Bible is His Word, and all the ramifications of that. And the end game, which is the more the culture becomes tolerant, the more they marginalize Christians who appear to be INtolerant but in reality only point up the intolerance of the culture. Because, if there is no young earth, no flood, no instantaneous creation of the heavens, then death ruled before Adam and Eve fell; it also undermines the simple gospel. The fact that the church continues to increasingly accept the Old Earth (millions and millions of years) theory of creation tells us that some pretty basic Genesis facts are being ignored and/or rejected. Of course, Peter in 2 Peter tells us that they “willingly forget” various creation details and that pesky flood, which also stands for the judgment of a sinful world. With the “dog days” of Summer upon us, and the Europeans still clueless as to what true Summer heat is like in the south, we bring post-Independence Day headlines. In this uniquely lazy time of year, finding connected headlines is very difficult so we have a real smorgasbord of information. Yet we can always find a way to point to God’s faithfulness and His soon return. Today we have a few thoughts on the 4th in hindsight, namely a thoughtful piece from Ken Ham about how we can sing “God Bless America” but refuse to follow Him and His commands.  Then we look at some of the perils of the upcoming primary and election season, as the uber-radical left attempts to swing our nation so far left it might end up at the fascist right. We also look at the perils of allegory in Bible interpretation, and a new experimental vaccine that might just be the vaxx-to-end-all-vaxxes, which tells us one thing in particular: it was never about a virus, always about a vaxx. Levite, prophet and worship leader Asaph, author of a dozen Psalms, takes us on a tour through his heart and mind over the seeming success of the rich and famous of his time. We wonder at times what he all struggled with, since we have all the knowledge of good and evil at our fingertips through global media. Nevertheless, he certainly had his share of wrestlings when it came to being distracted by those who had it all, and gave no thought to their own eternity. Why do people who know they will die at some point seem to not even care how it all ends? Asaph knew that God is good, and He has a covenant with Israel – but he still had lots of deep questions for His Maker. But has God ever taken away those who vex us with instant relief? No, the rich and carefree have been with us always, it is US who change after being with our God, in His house. Over across The Pond, not only do they seem to be in denial about the seasons, but they refuse to accommodate and prepare their citizens, leading to shocking loss of life. Why, you ask, in this day and age, would nations forego simple environmental controls? Well, if your citizens have bought the climate change lies, they might say they are willing to sacrifice now to save the planet later. In other words, thank you grandma for giving up your air conditioning AND your life so we can have cool weather later, said no offspring ever. As bizarre as that narrative is, this is how they think over in France. And that global warming really is the fault of Americans who air condition everywhere for a few weeks a year.  You can’t make this stuff up, really. We also talk about supply chains, the Islamic incursion into the Midwest, and of course the Islamunists who are conquering America one election at a time. We make the case that antisemitism is actually deeply embedded in the dem platform moving forward. We also look at the SAVE America Act: is it really just about providing ID to vote? Unlikely. Today we talk about the rising perilous tide all around us, starting with Israel’s brilliant attack on Iran. Then we discuss whether socialism is our expected national doom, as the left ratchets up every cause they can dream of, including antisemitism –  an offense to a holy God. Lawlessness and violence threaten to spill over to any community on any day as the left uses whatever crisis suits them to foment trouble. On today’s edition of SUFTT, we review what it means to be a Berean, as outlined in Acts 17. When Paul was preaching Christ to the Thessalonian Jews, he also had the attention of the Greeks in attendance at the synagogue. Greeks often attended in those early days of the church because they weren’t interested in the rampant paganism, but opted instead to hear about the Jewish Messiah. While the Jews weren’t interested in having their traditional boat rocked, the Greeks of Berea were considered more noble because they were critical thinkers and sought to search the Old Testament daily to see if what Paul said was true, and many got saved. Today we use that context to talk about the ways the church must be Bereans as well – critical thinkers – when it comes to understanding and believing God about Israel and about prophecy. Churches that don’t teach prophecy, which permeates both old and New Testament, are not being Bereans. The challenge to filter everything we hear, every day by the Word of God may require time and diligence but it is of the utmost importance.

[From June 10, 2025] Mary welcomes back Olivier Melnick to discuss the new normal: antisemitism. He is a Jewish believer in Jesus from France, the son of Holocaust survivors, whose maternal grandfather was killed by the Nazis. Olivier is an internationally known speaker on antisemitism. He holds a BA from Moody Bible Institute and a masters from Dallas Theological Seminary, and has been equipping believers to understand and fight antisemitism since 2000. The ramping up of antisemitism is a complete surprise to some, it’s not that long ago that they were the target of genocide during WW2, and if anyone alive has a parent who fought in that war, the connection is still strong. So why now? How are things different? Today we talk about the stages of normalization from his book, “The Normalization of Antisemitism”. World leaders are not so subtly being drawn into this hate as the world turns their back on Israel. Words matter. Words turn to violence. Even our neighbor to the north is being drawn in. Today’s news cycle continues on its merry way in forcing politics and politicians to the forefront of everything, and what happens then of course is the truly significant stories just don’t get any airing. In our ongoing effort to do an end run around all the temporal things the media thinks we want to hear about, once again we bring things around to prophecy and eternal things. Today we look at Spielberg’s “Disclosure” film which opens this week. The real show for believers is what he is saying about the church and his attempts to cause us to “question our beliefs” about how many gods might be out there. Which would be laughable if he weren’t so sincerely arrogant about it. Should Christians bother to see it? That depends. We also look at Elon Musk’s opinion that technology is “Jesus level” stuff.  Meanwhile, down under, the believers are laying low. Is that an option, regardless of the personal cost? He has also done extensive outreach at America’s beaches, university campuses, and foreign fields of Eastern and Western Europe and Central and South America. He has a long history engaging the Arts and LGBT community through heading a Christian Arts based ministry in NW Georgia and worked on the front lines of the AIDS health crisis of the mid 80s and 90s. Littleton knows the origins, methods and goals of the LGBTQ activist movement and the faithful Biblical response for believers anchored in the power of the Gospel by the CROSS and resurrection of Jesus. Ted is the founder and director of Invisible Angels, a nonprofit organization providing air transportation for survivors of human trafficking. A commercial pilot, he retired from the FAA in spring 2025, where he served as multimedia producer, creating safety messaging and training for air traffic controllers and pilots. Prior to that he served as a senior instructional systems designer contractor at Lockheed Martin and managing editor for Voice of America’s Learning English. Tim and Mary look at some of the things that are ramping up as we head to Summer of ’26. Many people thought that 2026 would be a meltdown kind of year, and that’s certainly a possibility. While it’s kind of fun to think that biting mosquitoes might be vanquished once and for all, global realities set in whether before, during, or after vacations. Ai, for instance, is facing a backlash – or a “hate wave” as people come out against data centers take too much power and oligarchs who have too much power to change the world. Humans being what we are aren’t ready to be superseded by machines, and it’s not a matter of just waiting it out. We also look at protests in Paris all in the name of a sporting victory – which we all know is just another occasion for immigrants to loot and plunder. How is it that Europeans have sold their birthright so easily? All that and more in this installment of headlines, SUFTT style.

Today’s headlines, as do most stories that the world deems important, remind us that we are just passing through this life. Whether it’s aliens, mass immigration and movements of populations of people, the economy or whatever we are all told is important, we as believers have to remember it’s all temporary.  A considerable amount of what occupies the headlines are mere “roadside attractions”. Now, when we talk about Israel and point to their redemption drawing nigh, that is something worth taking note of and we do regularly. Those are Mile Markers, things that show us how late the hour is. And truly we are just passing through – that’s also important as a mindset. And with the anniversary of the opening of Route 66 and how it transported so many Americans to “see the USA in your Chevrolet”, we’re thinking the only change of address we desire is our heavenly home. We talk about OPEC and why it is integral to the Middle East and will be for some time. We talk about the temple and the youth who want it rebuilt in their lifetimes; also about mass immigration and how it’s designed to erase the West and the Judeo-Christian worldview. Mary chats with Lee Brainard about the Iran war, and why we just can’t seem to settle on what is really going on there. Every day is a new headline, immediately followed by another one that says, no, that’s not what’s going on. So is avoiding the topic altogether the direction to take, and who would blame us – because so much of what we read from both believers and non-believers and the headlines they choose is filtered through what the media think of Trump. And then there is the struggle with “what he doesn’t know about prophecy.” But does God need Trump to understand prophecy? Since personal, humanoid style household robots are poised to “evolve” into something more, well, human – we wonder what part of their popularity today is Hollywood inspired, and what part is real? Is life imitating art? Do we really want a bot in our kitchen or anywhere in our homes, listening to our every sigh and expressed thought? We take a look at Bots gone wild, up to the point of giving scientists the recipe for a bio weapon. The bigger question then might be, what are we becoming alongside of them? There is no way this revolution doesn’t fundamentally change everything. Ai is here to stay. It’s one thing to auto-repeat, “it’s just a tool.” It’s another thing to think it won’t affect our humanity on a deep level.

Mary continues the conversation about the fundamental poisoning of humanity on two levels: synthetic chemicals in the form of pharma and gene-editing drugs, and increasing bureaucracy designed to control all agricultural seeds. What do raw milk, migration policies, energy policies, backyard poultry, our health, and slaughterhouses have in common? All of them have become so controlled by politicians and bureaucrats so as to remove any control whatsoever by local municipalities, aka, people.  It’s all about control, making it extremely difficult for the average person to simply be autonomous regarding their health and what they eat. Being the first governor to veto such protective legislation, residents should be extremely disappointed in this partisan upsmanship. The reasons he gives regarding protecting the ID of the users hardly shows a genuine concern for the minds and hearts of our kids. We also discuss some of the other ways to protect our kids online.
