Neil Bonsteel·5 episodes
Making cinema out of the uncinemable, it's the Script Apart podcast! Hapless actors must venture through two scenes of a movie they know nothing about. But first games! Then a trailer! And many interruptions in between. Hosted by Neil Bonsteel. Email us at scriptapartpodcast AT gmail DOT com Follow on Twitter: @MayorMcFrumples
Why listen
Script Apart is a scrappy, joke-forward movie improv show where Neil Bonsteel drops actors into bizarre screenplay scenes they have not prepared for. Episodes mix games, chaotic reads, interruptions, and a fake trailer, so it feels less like film criticism and more like friends turning impossible sequel premises into comedy in real time. It is best for listeners who like low-budget creative games, movie parody, and performers making each other break.
Episodes
If you're going to make a sequel to a movie over 4 decades old THIS is how you do it. Johnny and Chris tackle the long anticipated and completely unnecessary follow up to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. We open with some movie pitches for Steven Seagal, too. I hope you're listening, Steve.
New guests tackle a hair-raising, holiday romp of a film! There's snowboarding, there's sibling drama, and there's a yeti! And a skiing competition! And a millionaire who wants control of a mountain resort! And twists! And probably some environmental message somewhere! What doesn't this film have?
Finally, the story you *won't* see in your history books! We take a very inadvisable dive into WWII cinema with this tale from behind enemy lines. Those nazis were no stand up guys, let me tell you. Joining Anthony and Liz is our latest break-out star, Johnny Donaldson, who reminds us that a good FDR impression need not be perfect, just vespa enough. "Read Between the Loglines, Pal!" returns as the opening game and everyone plays just as bad. Hooray! There's no loafing this time around as Liz Perry and Anthony Rueli try their best in tackling this family friendly fare! That's right, we're doing a kid's movie. We introduce a new game into the mix and someone, not going to say who, gets to rap. Stick around for the trailer again! Guests Liz Perry and Anthony Rueli brave the unknown in a screenplay ripped right out of the soul of 1980s America. But first - games! And stick around to the end for the movie's trailer.Credits: Intro/Outro music: Artie Shaw's "Rockin' Chair" SFX all free source Trailer: music + mixing + additional VOX by Brian Bonsteel, other VOX Neil Bonsteel
