PixelTunes Radio is a bi-weekly video game music podcast hosted by Mike Levy and Ed Wilson. We bring you an hour of music, comedy, and VGM trivia!
Why listen
PixelTunes Radio is a warm, joke-filled guided tour through video game music, with Mike Levy and Ed Wilson curating tracks around consoles, composers, franchises, moods, and weird deep-cut themes. Episodes feel like hanging out with knowledgeable friends who can move from SNES sound hardware trivia to goofy skits to a surprisingly great obscure track you have never heard. It is especially good for retro game fans, VGM collectors, and anyone who likes music podcasts with personality rather than dry playlisting.

Download Episode 91: “Sega Saturn Around the World” here! The Sega Saturn was a very unique machine. Practically ill-fated from the start at its surprise North American launch in 1995, gamers chose to flock instead to the more affordable and better-marketed Sony PlayStation. The Saturn gained a lot more traction in Japan, so there was a much wider variety of games on the import market. In today’s episode, Mike and Ed share the best (and weirdest) that the Saturn had to offer in both regions. Get ready for some funky jams, with soaring brass sections and crazy bass lines! Download Episode 67: “Industrial Strength VGM” here! Sure, everyone knows that Nine Inch Nails wrote the soundtrack for Quake, right? You may not know, however, that it wasn’t the first time an industrial artist has written music for a video game.., and it certainly wasn’t the last! Ed and special guest host Todd, both long-time fans of industrial music, share their tastes and expertise in the genre. Check out tracks that listeners of orchestral, rock, and dance will enjoy (with an industrial twist, of course!) You’ll also learn a lot about the artists that created these tunes, and find out where you can find more of their music.
