There are two kingdoms: the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of this world. Dr. Youssef reminds believers that praying “Your kingdom come” is not merely a future hope—it is a present surrender. It means saying, “Lord, reign in my life. Rule over my thoughts. Shape my desires. Show me Your will.” Because human nature is selfish, even our prayers can become centered on our plans, needs, and ambitions. But Kingdom prayer submits every desire to the will of God. Within every believer is a battle between the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of this world. But in Christ, we have the victory. So press on with confidence: your Father hears you, His Kingdom is advancing, and He will answer according to His perfect will. Imagine being granted an audience with a king. As you enter the throne room, you would not begin by rushing through your list of requests—you would first acknowledge his majesty. In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reflects on the opening words of the Lord’s Prayer: “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.” To hallow God’s name means to set it apart as holy. God is sovereign, omniscient, righteous, just, merciful, faithful, compassionate, and true. He is the Creator of the universe and the King of kings. Yet through faith in Jesus Christ, this holy God becomes our heavenly Father, and we are invited to come before Him in prayer. Dr. Youssef reminds us that the more we know God’s character, the deeper our fellowship with Him becomes. Jesus taught His followers to pray by calling God Father. For many, that truth feels overwhelming: How can sinful people approach the holy and righteous God with such intimacy? Dr. R. A. Torrey once wrote that prayer is the key that unlocks the storehouses of God’s infinite grace and power. For the believer, patience is not personality-driven—it is faith-driven. In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains that true patience is built on the absolute confidence that God is sovereign over every detail of our lives. Jesus reminds us that not even a sparrow falls outside the Father’s care, and that even the hairs of our heads are numbered. If God watches over the smallest details of creation, His children can trust that they are neither forgotten nor forsaken. Nothing escapes His loving, eternal care. Dr. Youssef points to James’ examples of patience. Like a farmer who plants seed and waits for the harvest, we must trust God’s timing without trying to force or inspect His work too soon. George Müller, the nineteenth-century evangelist and prayer warrior, was once asked the secret of his victorious life. His answer was simple: “It was the day I died, utterly died.” In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains what it means for believers to die to self and live fully surrendered to Christ. Müller said he died to his opinions, preferences, tastes, will, the world’s approval, the world’s criticism, and even the praise or blame of friends. From that day forward, his aim was to be approved by God alone. Dr. Youssef reminds us that until we die to self, we will live in defeat; until we die to sin, we will live in bondage; until we die to pride, we will live enslaved. James gives believers a clear command and a sure promise: “Submit yourselves, then, to God. How do you conquer hidden fears? In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains that the first step is to identify what is causing fear in your heart. Is your fear based on Truth, or is it rooted in an irrational belief, habit, or assumption? Fear can be a warning sign, but it can also mislead us. Many of the things we fear never happen, and for some people, worry becomes a pattern with no solid foundation. That is why believers must bring fear before the Lord and ask Him to reveal what is true. Dr. Youssef reminds us that the second step is prayer. There is no secret formula for effective prayer—simply talk to God about what frightens you. Tell Him when you feel afraid, hurt, frustrated, or angry. Ask Him to show you whether your fear is valid and to reveal His plan for overcoming it. James reminds us that we often do not have because we do not ask God. As hidden fears come to light, the Lord will strengthen your faith, expose what is false, and help you walk forward with courage. Like the apostles, we can ask Him to increase our faith—and trust that He will help us overcome fear. William F. How do we know if we are following Biblical wisdom? In chapter 3 of his epistle, James sets the standard with eight qualities of godly wisdom:   First, godly wisdom is pure. False wisdom is characterized by bitter envy and selfish ambition; godly wisdom is characterized by purity of motive.   Second, it is peace-loving. Selfish ambition can start a war, but God’s wisdom can bring Truth and clarity where there is chaos.   Third, it is considerate. Though you have strength and power, you control yourself so that when you have the opportunity to hurt somebody, you won’t do it.   Fourth, it is submissive. Being submissive means being willing to listen and willing to learn. To be submissive is to be humble and teachable, not a doormat to be walked over but meek, so that your strength is guided and submitted to God, making you gentle and kind.   Fifth, it is full of mercy. The word used here actually has a double meaning: forgiving those who wrong us and then being willing in our hearts to help them.   Sixth, it is full of good fruit. You cannot manufacture the fruit of the Spirit. True spiritual maturity happens from the inside out for those who are indwelt by the Spirit of God and are seeking His wisdom moment by moment.   Seventh, it is impartial. Those who live by worldly wisdom cannot be impartial because they are always trying to please someone, but those who live by God’s wisdom are consistent, single-minded, and authentic.   Eighth, it’s sincere. A sincere person is genuine, without hypocrisy, and wears no mask.   Godly wisdom is the kind of wisdom that comes from the very heart of God. As you read and pray through God’s Word continually, you will find that your life is producing purity, peace, gentleness, willingness, mercy, good fruit, impartiality, and sincerity—and that’s how you’ll know the Word of God is taking root. Our world is overflowing with knowledge, yet starving for wisdom. In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains the difference between knowledge and wisdom: knowledge gathers information, but wisdom applies the right Truth in the right situation. There is natural wisdom, which relies on human reasoning and experience. There is worldly wisdom, which rationalizes sin, fuels selfish ambition, and separates us from God. James describes this kind of “wisdom” as earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. It is the same kind of deception that led Adam and Eve away from obedience in the garden. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is altogether different. It is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial, and sincere. Godly wisdom is not arrogant, harsh, boastful, divisive, or unforgiving. It does not seek self-glory; it brings glory to God. Dr. Youssef reminds believers to seek God’s wisdom in every area of life—from marriage and parenting to conflict, decisions, and new ventures. True wisdom is the ability to apply the Word of God accurately and faithfully in our own lives and in the lives of others. The question is: are you growing in the wisdom that comes from heaven? Modern science and technology have given humanity control over many things—but not the tongue. In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef turns to James 3 to show why our words matter so deeply in the life of the believer and the witness of the Church. James compares the tongue to a small rudder that steers a great ship and a tiny spark that can set an entire forest ablaze. Today’s culture often promotes a comfortable version of Christianity—one that avoids suffering, sacrifice, and spiritual testing. But in today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef warns that easy-believism produces shallow faith: faith that may seem supported inside the church building but wilts when tests, trials, and persecution come. James tells believers to consider trials pure joy because the testing of faith produces perseverance. Spiritual endurance is not cultivated by avoiding challenges, but by facing them with Christ. Trials can either turn us away from the Lord or teach us to run to Him—and Scripture calls us to choose resilient hope in every circumstance. Joseph was planted in Pharaoh’s prison, yet God raised him to become prime minister of Egypt. Daniel was planted in the lions’ den, yet God lifted him to serve kings. In Luke 7:31–35, Jesus compared the people of His generation to children in the marketplace who refused to join the game—whether it was a wedding dance or a funeral dirge. Nothing satisfied them. In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains that Jesus’ analogy exposes a dangerous spiritual condition: apathy that makes people resistant to the Gospel and unwilling to participate in the family of God. John the Baptist came with a message of repentance, and people complained that he was too severe. Jesus came with the same message while eating with sinners and attending dinners and weddings, and people complained that He was too approachable. Their problem was not the messenger’s style—it was their self-focused, critical hearts. Dr. Youssef warns that this same attitude still keeps many away from meaningful involvement in the local church. Instead of worshiping the one true God, people nitpick the delivery, criticize the congregation, and remain on the sidelines. But Jesus says wisdom is proved right by those who look beyond themselves and respond to God’s Truth. When we lift our eyes from ourselves to our Savior—the only sure foundation—the Gospel moves us from selfishness and purposelessness into abundant joy, unexplainable peace, and brotherly love. After years of warning His people to repent, God allowed Judah to experience exile. Seventy years later, they returned to a ruined land—and Nehemiah, granted favor by the king of Persia, came back to Jerusalem to repair its broken walls. When he saw the devastation, he wept. But in today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef reminds us that Nehemiah did not stop at sorrow. He asked what God would have him do—and then he got to work. Nehemiah chapter 3 gives believers a powerful blueprint for rebuilding what is broken around us. First, God’s work requires all hands on deck. The repeated phrase “next to them” shows the people standing side by side, each one contributing to the mission. When the Church prayerfully works together, God blesses the labor of His people. Second, there is work for everyone. Nehemiah’s people did not merely hope for change or pray from a distance—they cooperated, served, and took responsibility. In the same way, every believer has a role in God’s mission, and no one is insignificant in His Kingdom. Finally, God’s people must encourage and affirm one another in the work. Anyone can complain, criticize, or scoff, but it takes a heart surrendered to God to say, “I want my life to count for something great for Him.” As we confirm a servant spirit, godly character, commitment to the Lord, and faithful obedience, God revives our hearts and bears witness through us to the world that Jesus Christ is the only true foundation. The Church is the body of Christ, made up of many diverse parts working together under the direction of the Head—Jesus Himself. Scripture declares that God has laid a tested and precious cornerstone in Zion—a sure foundation for all who rely on Him. In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef explains that Jesus Christ is that cornerstone, the foundation upon which the Church is built. In the ancient world, the cornerstone determined the strength, shape, cohesion, and symmetry of the entire building. If the cornerstone was wrong, the structure would eventually collapse. In the same way, every life, home, ministry, and church must be built in relationship to Christ. He is the Living Stone—rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to Him. Peter also tells believers something remarkable: those who come to Christ are living stones, being built into a spiritual house. That means Christians are not meant to live detached from the Church. A stone is made for building, and a “rolling stone Christian” is not fulfilling God’s purpose. It is in the gathered, Gospel-shaped community of the Church that believers become effective witnesses for God’s Kingdom. Dr. Youssef reminds us that every person who receives Jesus as Savior and Lord becomes part of a holy priesthood and a royal priesthood—related to God by redemption, calling, and adoption. Satan’s deception is subtle: he entices people into slavery by calling it freedom. Peter exposes the danger of a counterfeit freedom that promises liberty while leading people back into bondage. Jesus promised that trouble would come in this world—but He also promised His overcoming peace. King Saul was hunting David, determined to kill the man God had anointed to take his place. Then, in a moment that seemed perfectly arranged for revenge, Saul entered the very cave where David and his men were hiding. David had the opportunity to end his suffering—but instead of killing Saul, he cut off a corner of Saul’s robe and spared his life. Where are your fountains? Are they in material things, physical fitness, relationships, career success, reputation, family name, or personal identity? We all long for peace. The ancient people of God longed for it, too—looking forward to the day when God Himself would establish true and lasting peace. The psalmists spoke of the coming Messiah 1,000 years before Jesus’ birth—and their prophecies were fulfilled with perfect accuracy in Christ. But what do these Messianic psalms mean for believers today, 2,000 years after His first coming? Shame is a powerful and damaging emotion. It can make us hide who we are, what we believe, or the message God has entrusted to us. Paul warned Timothy not to be ashamed of the testimony about the Lord or of those who suffer for Him. That warning is just as urgent today. But Paul’s command is clear: do not be ashamed; instead, join in suffering for the Gospel by the power of God. God wants you to walk wisely and confidently with Him, refusing to let fear or circumstances cause you to doubt His goodness. Martha and Mary both loved the Lord, but their actions revealed two very different priorities. Martha was busy serving, preparing, cleaning, and trying to please Jesus through activity. Mary, however, sat at His feet and listened to His Word. Jesus gently corrected Martha because she was “worried and upset about many things,” while Mary had chosen what was better. The issue was not service itself, but preoccupation. When terrible things happen in our communities or around the world, fear can quickly rise in our hearts. There are times when God withholds something we deeply desire—a relationship, a job, a possession, or an answered prayer—and our confidence in Him feels tested. In 1970, Dr. Michael Youssef was newly arrived in Sydney with almost nothing—just one hundred borrowed dollars and a humble job at the telephone company. We may wish maturity came instantly, but the truth is simple: growth takes work—and it requires patience, persistence, and sacrifice. A breathtaking monastery perched on a cliff in Portugal offers a stunning view—but reaching it requires being hoisted in a wicker basket by an aged monk. When a nervous visitor asked how often the rope was replaced, the monk replied, “Each time the old rope breaks.” That answer captures the dread many people live with every day: the fear that everything could collapse at any moment. Every Christian lives by faith every day. Like a muscle, faith grows stronger when you exercise it—and it weakens when you default to self-reliance. Joseph spent years confined in an Egyptian dungeon for a crime he did not commit. Yet God was not absent—He was refining Joseph’s faith, strengthening him with His presence, and preparing him for promises that would be fulfilled in God’s time, not Joseph’s. Jude knew that deceivers don’t merely confuse ideas—they lure believers toward ungodliness and weaken the Church’s witness. In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef walks through Jude’s practical, battle-tested blueprint for standing firm when false teaching pressures the people of God. First: Know the Word. Jude warns that false teachers twist Scripture and “do not have the Spirit” (Jude 1:19). The antidote is biblical discernment: when you know God’s Word deeply, distortion becomes obvious. Second: Insulate your soul. Jude calls believers to “build yourselves up” in the faith and to “pray in the Holy Spirit” (Jude 1:20)—praying as the Spirit leads and obeying His promptings. Scripture is unmistakably clear: Jesus will return in glory to judge the nations, separating those who received Him from those who rejected Him (Matthew 25:31–32). Yet false teachers deny or dilute this reality, replacing repentance and holiness with a softened message that cannot save. Jude understood the wreckage false teachers can leave behind: polluted witness, weakened biblical authority, and a “cult of personality” that distracts from following Christ. What will it feel like to see Jesus—truly see Him—for the very first time? In today’s episode of the MY Devotional Podcast, Dr. Michael Youssef shares the true account of William Montague Dyke, a blind man who longed to see his bride’s face. After a risky surgery, he asked that his bandages be removed at the altar so his first sight would be her coming down the aisle. When he finally saw her, he whispered, “At last.” Dr. Youssef points to a far greater moment awaiting every believer: in heaven we won’t first see the bride—we will see the Bridegroom.
