Architect Monica Ream and designer Lauren Nelson create a home that harkens back to a bygone era.During the height of the pandemic, architect Monica Ream of Verner Architects was assisting her sister with a search for a vacation home where their families could escape and their kids could forge the kind of special bond the women built during childhood. The search ended the moment they stepped onto this Healdsburg property. “There was something magical here; both my sister and I agreed on that,” she says. The owner was a fan of designer Lauren Nelson and convinced her to join the team and imbue the house with her special brand of sophisticated comfort. Together, the women collaborated to enhance the dwelling’s good bones and to expand on the illusion of timelessness first conjured when it was built 36 years ago. In the end, the home became what Nelson describes as a place filled with a “quiet allure,” and a family haven where the owner says she’s been able to give her family “real 1980s summers.” Find out how on this episode of the LUXE Connect Podcast.Check out more fabulous homes across the country at luxesource.com or @luxemagazine.Learn more about the LUXE Connect community: info.luxesource.com/luxe-connectSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
In the premiere episode of the LUXE Connect Podcast by LUXE Interiors + Design, Homes Editor Mary Jo Bowling speaks with architect Clare Walton about designing a modern Lake Tahoe home that blends her client’s love of outer space and concrete with a strong connection to nature. When the owner envisioned the home as a series of futuristic pods, Walton used that concept to organize the structure, linking the volumes with glass passageways. Concrete is used to balanced retractable walls of glass, features helping Walton come ever closer to her long quest to build the “ultimate glass box” in the woods. The result is a home that she explains is “grounding” and provides a “connection to something larger than ourselves.”Photo credit: Paul DyerLearn more:Read the full article, see photographs, and discover resources.Check out more fabulous homes across the country at luxesource.com or @luxemagazine.Learn more about the LUXE Connect community: info.luxesource.com/luxe-connect<a href="https://nam04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwalton-architecture.com%2F&data=05%7C02%7Crschulte%40sandowdesign.com%7C2d4acd47d74d4879b5e308de8f57b1d5%7Cb4352b522b2c4d36b264199819d035aa%7C0%7C0%7C639105803974022760%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJFbXB0eU1hcGkiOnRydWUsIlYiOiIwLjAuMDAwMCIsIlAiOiJXaW4zMiIsIkFOIjoiTWFpbCIsIldUIjoyf
