PRIORITY: Why Minnesota Wild Must PURSUE Dylan Larkin—Is He the IDEAL Fit for Bill Guerin's Roster?

Minnesota Wild set their sights on a franchise-changing trade as Dylan Larkin requests an exit from the Detroit Red Wings. Could Larkin be the missing piece at center Minnesota desperately needs for a championship push? Seth Toupal spotlights Larkin’s elite faceoff skills, impressive point shares, and versatile two-way game—underscoring how his play could instantly elevate the Wild’s lineup alongside stars like Kirill Kaprizov, Matt Boldy, and Quinn Hughes.  Key discussions focus on potential trade packages featuring prospects like Danila Yurov and Charlie Stramel, implications of Larkin’s $8.7 million contract through 2031, and deep Olympic and Midwest ties that make Minnesota an enticing destination. Comparisons to the Quinn Hughes acquisition raise hopes for another transformative move in St. Paul. TOP SIX OPTIONS: Wild Trade Talks — Are Mason McTavish, Anders Lee & Vincent Trocheck Worth PURSUING?

Minnesota Wild face pivotal offseason decisions as trade rumors swirl around top-six targets Mason McTavish, Anders Lee, and Vincent Trocheck. Is there a true difference-maker out there who can transform the Wild’s Stanley Cup prospects? Seth Toupal and Jayden Homuth break down each player’s potential fit, from McTavish’s secondary scoring and faceoff skills to Lee’s veteran presence and durability, while questioning whether cap space should be spent on age or upside. The episode spotlights Trocheck’s intriguing Instagram tease and explores if his cost—and his locker room energy—make him the upgrade Minnesota needs at center ice. Key topics include Bill Guerin’s offseason priorities, the ongoing search for an “alpha dog” centerman, and how past playoff lessons shape the Wild’s strategy. CRITICAL SHIFT: Minnesota Wild PUSH for Stanley Cup as Judd Brackett departs | ALL IN for Cup Now?

Minnesota Wild face a pivotal front-office shakeup as Judd Brackett departs for an elevated role with the Toronto Maple Leafs, signaling a strategic shift in the team’s contention window. Seth Toupal examines how Brackett’s exit reflects the Wild’s current win-now mindset, prioritizing NHL-ready talent over long-term prospect development—especially after blockbuster trades for names like Quinn Hughes that sent homegrown draftees Marco Rossi, Liam Ohgren, and Zeev Buium the other way.  Key discussion points include Brackett’s legacy of first-round picks—Rossi, Jesper Wallstedt, Danila Yurov, and Charlie Stramel—and what their development (or lack thereof) means for Minnesota’s roster depth. The episode compares the Wild’s current philosophy to recent Stanley Cup contenders like the Vegas Golden Knights and Carolina Hurricanes, asking whether trading future assets is the only way to keep the championship window open. Will Bill Guerin’s approach deliver postseason success, or does the loss of elite scouting come at too high a price? Everydayer Club: If you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official. Wild Offseason BEGINS: Major TRADE Talk, Goalie & Coaching QUESTIONS Loom At Pivotal Crossroads

The Minnesota Wild enter a pivotal offseason with expectations higher than ever after finally breaking through the first round of the playoffs, but Bill Guerin made it clear during the team’s end-of-season press conference that the organization is far from satisfied. On this episode of Locked On Wild, Seth Toupal breaks down Guerin’s revealing comments, including the statement that “no player is untouchable” as the Wild search for a true number-one center. Seth discusses the team’s disappointing finish against the Colorado Avalanche, the reality that the Wild still lack elite top-end talent down the middle, and why Guerin may need to make an aggressive trade to push the franchise into legitimate Stanley Cup contention.  The episode also dives into several major offseason storylines, including the shocking news that goaltender Filip Gustavsson will undergo hip surgery with no clear recovery timetable, potentially impacting Minnesota’s trade plans and early-season outlook. Seth examines John Hynes returning as head coach despite lingering concerns about the Wild’s special teams inconsistencies and some questionable playoff decisions, particularly on defense pairings and goalie usage. With free agency, trade rumors, prospect discussions, and roster evaluations looming, the Wild are entering one of the most important summers in franchise history—and Guerin appears ready to make bold moves to reshape the roster. GOLDEN CASE: Wild's Bill Guerin DESERVES GM of the Year After Quinn Hughes Trade and Gold Medal Win

Minnesota Wild’s playoff ambitions face a critical test as Bill Guerin emerges as a finalist for NHL GM of the Year, thanks in part to acquiring Quinn Hughes and leading Team USA to Olympic gold for the first time since the 1980s. Seth Toupal breaks down why Guerin’s bold moves—including the addition of Vladimir Tarasenko and key trade acquisitions—might secure him the league’s top front office honor. On the ice, the Wild’s depth is under the microscope with center injuries exposing glaring roster gaps against powerhouse opponents like the Colorado Avalanche. With Joel Eriksson Ek and Jonas Brodin sidelined, Minnesota’s deficiencies up the middle threaten their postseason hopes. POST CAST: Wild Smother Dallas in 6-1 Game 1 Win

The Minnesota Wild opened their first-round playoff series in dominant fashion, rolling to a 6–1 win over the Dallas Stars in Game 1. Minnesota set the tone early with a power-play goal from Joel Eriksson Ek, then blew the game open with three goals in the second period from Kirill Kaprizov, Ryan Hartman, and Matt Boldy to take a commanding 4–0 lead. CONCERN: Filip Gustavsson's Recent Struggles Create Goalie DILEMMA | Time for Jesper Wallstedt?

In this episode of Locked on Wild, Filip Gustavsson’s late-season struggles take center stage as concerns grow ahead of a playoff matchup with the Dallas Stars. Host Seth Toupal highlights alarming trends over Gustavsson’s last 10 starts, including declining save percentages and a noticeable increase in goals allowed—particularly from medium- and high-danger scoring areas. While some goals have come from bad luck or deflections, the overall performance suggests deeper issues with positioning, confidence, and reaction time. The episode builds a strong case for giving Jesper Wallstedt serious consideration as the team’s playoff starter. Wallstedt’s recent numbers and composure in net are contrasted with Gustavsson’s inconsistency, especially against a high-powered Dallas offense. While Gustavsson’s experience and past playoff success are acknowledged, the discussion ultimately centers on whether the Wild can afford to rely on a struggling veteran in a tightly contested series where small margins will determine the outcome. POST CAST: Wild Blow 3-1 Lead in 6-3 Loss to Lightning

The Minnesota Wild dropped their first game of a 3 game East Coast road trip as they fell 6-3 to the Tampa Bay Lightning Tuesday in Tampa. The Wild led 2-0 on goals from Mats Zuccarello and Brock Faber, and after the Lightning cut the lead in half, Vladimir Tarasenko made it 3-1 with his 21st goal of the season. But the Lightning took advantage of a rough end of the game for Filip Gustavsson as they scored 5 straight goals to secure the win. Gustavsson bobbled a puck with time winding down in the 3rd to give the Lightning a 4-3 lead. The Wild Penalty Kill surrendered 3 Power Play goals, and the Wild Power Play went 2/4 on the day. The Wild will play Florida on Thursday for their next game.  Everydayer Club: If you never miss an episode, it’s time to make it official.
