The Tennessee Titans didn't get a primetime game on their regular season schedule, but they did just receive a primetime slot in the preseason, for what that's worth! The Titans will take on the Seattle Seahawks in the Sunday Night Football slot in Week 2 of the preseason. This is an interesting matchup, but the joint practices before the game are really what matter most. More immediately, the Titans have given a gift to fans and opened two additional practices to the media for next week's OTAs. This gives us a better read on position battles and progress for young players. Finally, there has been a lot of big news in the NFL this week that can or will have an impact on the Titans. First, Caleb Williams got on the cover of the new Madden game and Cam Ward certainly has the ability and aura to be the cover athlete one day. Also, Drake London got an extension from the Atlanta Falcons and it shows just how much of a value Carnell Tate can be. Also in the news was the two big trades of Myles Garrett and AJ Brown. The Tennessee Titans traded up to get linebacker Anthony Hill in the second round and with that comes the expectation he can make an immediate impact. That means it is great news to hear that Hill has already been flashing in practice from his direct position coach. Hill taking a step forward and filling a starting role early on would be a good sign for the defense. On offense, the Titans new coaching staff is a perfect fit for Cam Ward due to the amount of research and work they had done on Ward going into last year's draft and a recent comment from the Titans quarterback coach made that obvious. Finally, the Titans want to rotate the defensive line a ton, but that means limited snaps for Jeffery Simmons. The Tennessee Titans have made it through a couple of weeks of OTAs and there are some situations that we need to check in on like Tyjae Spears in the final year of his rookie contract. Spears is getting hype for his performance so far, but we shouldn't buy into that hype as all Titans fans know who Spears really is as a player. Carnell Tate on the other hand, has given us every reason to believe in the hype he is generating. On defense, Femi Oladejo has seemingly missed the last few weeks of practices and that is devastating for his growth in year two when it is desperately needed. On the other hand, hype surrounding the Titans two young defenders, Anthony Hill and Keldric Faulk, should be welcome as schematic changes makes big leaps likely. Finally, it seems some starters have emerged early on both sides of the ball in Austin Schlottmann, Cordell Volsen and Marcus Harris. The Tennessee Titans hit the field for another open practice on Friday and once again, Carnell Tate was the star of the show. With highlight catches and smooth route running, Tate has impressed anyone and everyone who has been at practice to witness it and it makes you wonder what a true top receiver could do for Cam Ward and this offense. Speaking of Ward, he had a solid day that wasn't perfect, but Ward is being challenged in a major way in practice due to the circumstances they are working on. Will Levis though, had a meltdown performance consisting of underthrows and interceptions. You feel bad for Levis, but odds are he won't break out of his funk without a new home. The Tennessee Titans would get a massive boost this season if Cam Ward and Carnell Tate's connection from the first week of OTAs is something that is consistent all year. That consistency is what is built right now, the chemistry is created during this time period. Hearing Cam and Tate kept it rolling would be the best thing to come out of Friday's practice. The Titans are also hoping to see the secondary step up as well after a seemingly offensive dominated session last week. With the secondary being a quiet concern, this is something to monitor. The young linebacker group is also something we need to keep an eye on as Robert Saleh's history could lead to big jumps here. Finally, the undrafted free agents the Titans brought in have a chance to shine in these situations and it is the first step of making a roster. The Tennessee Titans are trying to get pieces in place to become a championship contender and some may already be, like Cam Ward and Jeffery Simmons. Recently, NFL Analyst Daniel Jeremiah laid out a format for teams to be that kind of contender and boxes that needed checked. While the Titans might have a few pieces, they certainly aren't all the way there or close, to be honest. Needing three playmakers on offense and three on defense, along with three quality offensive linemen and two good pass rushers, the Titans can't fit the bill as of yet. The Titans just completed their first week of OTAs the Cam Ward to Carnell Tate connection is clear the biggest winner, but players like Cedric Gray, Marcus Harris and Austin Schlottmann should be consider big winners as well. The Tennessee Titans have one of the best interior defensive lines in the NFL, but the edge rusher spot is still a big question. Femi Oladejo in year two and Keldric Faulk as a rookie will need to step up quickly, but if they do, they could be the future at the position for years to come. Oladejo is even getting some help from a Titans legend in Jevon Kearse. The Tennessee Titans had their first open OTA last week and it got the fan base stirring after a solid performance from Cam Ward and an excellent debut from Carnell Tate. Ward's growth is absolutely critical and while the on-field work is key, Ward is making enhancements to his fitness and diet as well. Those changes can be equally beneficial as he tries to become a superstar and it sounds like Ward took the new ideas seriously. Carnell Tate can help him get there with assistance from Brian Daboll as well. Tate can win in isolated situations with consistency and Daboll can create those situations. Ward spoke after practice last week and explained it himself. The Tennessee Titans saw Chad Brinker exit earlier this offseason and it left a lot of duties unmanned that may have fallen to general manager Mike Borgonzi. While capable, Borgonzi would logically lose some of the time he uses for football-related activities. That would not help the Titans win football games so a big hire was made of Mike Gardi. Gardi will assist with the side quests of being a GM. The Tennessee Titans had their first full organized team activity open to media on Thursday and Carnell Tate was the standout star. With two touchdown catches and some impressive work, Tate looks the part early on of what Titans fans were hoping to get when he went top five. Tate got those touchdowns from Cam Ward, who head coach Robert Saleh said was "perfectly healthy" before practice. That is all the good news Titans fans should want to hear. Ward wasn't perfect on Thursday, but him being healthy and having a connection with Tate is all you could ask for. The Tennessee Titans have some key X-Factors that will determine their success this season and none of them is bigger than offensive coordinator Brian Daboll. Daboll is tasked with maximizing Cam Ward in year two and that is the most important job in the building. Daboll's plan for Ward seems clear and it is all about executing it. The Tennessee Titans will need a lot of their young players to take steps forward this year, but on the defensive side of the ball none will be more important than the trio of Kevin Winston, Femi Oladejo and Marcus Harris. All three are slated to have major roles and need to be worthy of filling them. On offense, what will become of Chim Dike, Elic Ayomanor and Jackson Slater remains to be seen. With the Tennessee Titans kicking off organized team activities this week, it is a good time to make predictions for who will win the biggest battles for starting roles. Offensive line is the biggest topic of conversation and what is the best guess at this stage is to go with the simplest answer -- veterans. On defense, the battles take place all over. From defensive end to linebacker to slot cornerback, there will be movement and it won't be simply veterans taking the gigs on this side of the ball. A rookie like Anthony Hill could be starting sooner than you think. Finally, the offensive side of the ball has more questions than just the offensive line, but those come with depth more than starters. Backup spots in the backfield where Will Levis and Nick Singleton will try to crack into roles and at receiver where young players will try to keep their snap count. The Tennessee Titans new schedule dropped and the big revenge game in Week 1 against the New York Jets is a MUST WIN. Yes, it is Week 1 and one loss won't ruin a season, but it is hard to see how the Titans could hit their ceiling in 2026 without winning their home opener and setting a proper tone for the year. There are plenty of examples that would push back on this, but the Titans situation is unique. There are other matchups that can really determine the Titans season because they could go either way and most of them are with teams in the AFC North. Taking a few of these could change the terms of the Titans' outcome. Finally, there are a few games that could really skyrocket the Titans to new heights if they turn into victories. The Tennessee Titans new schedule dropped and it gives real playoff possibilities when you start to look at the pockets of games. Of course this requires the Titans to step up and improve, but the schedule won't be so difficult, on first blush, that they can't get off to a decent start to the year and carry that into "on the bubble" status. There is a stretch in the middle of the year that will require them to grow up a bit and handle business, but the end of the season will require a full maturation and tell us exactly how far away the team is. The Tennessee Titans schedule will drop later on tonight, but some potential leaks have already hit the social media. Are these leaks to be trusted? With the Tennessee Titans schedule about to drop, now is the perfect time to look at how a perfect slate would unfold. First, the Titans don't want to be playing their most difficult opponents too early in the season. As a team with a lot of new, coming off some struggling years, matchups against the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets early would be helpful to get some momentum. Also, having a second before playing too many divisional games would also be ideal. Saving some until after a late-seasons bye week gives the Titans the best shot to be competitive. With the Tennessee Titans schedule dropping this week it is time to wonder what they should be hoping to see on the list. The Tennessee Titans fired Mike Vrabel as their head coach years ago, but his time there is under fire due to an off-the-field scandal that is  currently dominating the headlines. If Vrabel was still the coach of the Titans, this would be a lot worse and in some ways, that makes this a major moment of relief for the team. However, the reality is, the Titans still royally messed up their process that included firing Vrabel. The hires of Ran Carthon and Brian Callahan were disasters and after Chad Brinker's exit, it is fair to say the setup they used was also a waste. Luckily, the Titans are now back on track with Mike Borgonzi at the helm, but Vrabel's current predicament doesn't change the fact his ousting was part of a series of errors for this franchise. The Tennessee Titans got their deal done with Carnell Tate this weekend in a move that wasn't surprising, but is still welcome as it avoids any unnecessary talking points or drama following the Titans. Having a peaceful offseason that is all about the work is exactly what the doctored ordered at this point after fireworks during the offseason. This will set Tate up for a massive season that could have him in line for a rookie of the year award. Cam Ward would certainly have to have a good season for Tate to accomplish that, but the statistical projections for Ward are not exactly good enough from ESPN's Mike Clay. However, the projections for the Titans' top trio at receiver with Tate, Calvin Ridley and Wan'Dale Robinson all look pretty encouraging. Finally, the Titans again need to focus on getting to work as the rest of the summer schedule arrives. Organized team activities, mandatory mini-camp and training camp lie ahead with games happening before you know it. The Tennessee Titans have done a lot to upgrade their roster, but things are certainly not complete. Especially in the secondary where the Titans still have big questions. Kenny Moore was just released by the Indianapolis Colts and he would be a fantastic pickup for a number of reasons. While the Titans have publicly been hyping Marcus Harris in the nickel spot, Moore makes a lot more sense, no pun intended. Finally, the NFL announced that the official schedule release date will be 5/14/26. The Tennessee Titans made a lot of upgrades this offseason, but not everything is in a great place and there are some obvious reasons why this season could go poorly. One of the big things to watch that seems to have gone quiet is the defensive secondary. While the Titans added talent at corner, safety and slot are still major question marks and it could negate the defensive line's advantage. A much more obvious concern everyone is worried about is the offensive line. However, the pessimism does not mean it is impossible for the group to get it together and perform well. Finally, the biggest thing that could be standing in the way of the Titans having a good season is the schedule. The Tennessee Titans could always use more talent and there is no doubt Stefon Diggs is a talented player. There is also the connection to Brian Daboll from their time in Buffalo with the Bills, but if Mike Borgonzi is really stuck on having a proper culture in the locker room, adding Diggs just doesn't make sense. Whether Diggs was guilty or innocent isn't as important as the fact that he simple creates non-stop distractions with his off-field activities. The Tennessee Titans made numerous upgrades this offseason, but no more valuable than the improvement in the coaching staff. Robert Saleh, Brian Daboll and the group they have put together to coach the players is such a massive upgrade from the previous regime that it can account for a few extra wins alone. Not to be ignored, the Titans enhancements at the skill positions on offense is noticeable as well. Adding Carnell Tate, Wan'Dale Robinson, Daniel Bellinger and Nick Singleton should give the Titans a major boost. The Tennessee Titans caught some flack for holding their rookie draft class back during last weekend's rookie mini-camp and Robert Saleh in particular was criticized. After the news that all 58 of the Titans rookie tryouts didn't make the 90-man roster, Saleh looks like he might have known what he was doing because the activities of the weekend would not have benefitted the draft picks in any way and could have actively harmed them. The Tennessee Titans rookie class had two first round picks in Carnell Tate and Keldric Faulk, but Anthony Hill, the linebacker in the second round, will actually have the best rookie season out of the Titans' draft class. Where does that leave Tate and Faulk though? Neither will come close to being the top player at their position, even if they are still solid contributors. Nick Singleton also will have a good season and by the end of the year, Singleton will be considered the lead back for the Titans. Finally, the Titans have a big hole on the offensive line and Pat Coogan has a great chance to take the center spot. The Tennessee Titans have worked through the two big player acquisition phases of the offseason with free agency and then the NFL Draft, but they still have quite a few needs on the roster where things are not solidified. First, the pass rush has gotten some additions, but Joey Bosa would be an excellent fit and a low-risk, high-reward option. The Titans could also use some help at interior offensive line and while they may want to get a look at the young players, signing Kevin Zeitler needs to happen ASAP. This move would be certainly make Tyler feel better about the o-line and probably make Cam Ward feel better too. The Tennessee Titans have moved on from Will Levis and the franchise is fully behind Cam Ward as the future at quarterback. That makes Levis expendable and most have expected a trade would materialize. However, at this point in the offseason, it is less likely a deal will be made and the Titans would be wise to hold on to Levis and wait for a better market for his services. Tennessee Titans rookie mini-camp took place over the weekend and like always there was drama. First, Robert Saleh decided not to have the draft class, including Carnell Tate, participate due to health concerns. This was criticized by some, but this is a perfectly fine decision that has the player's best interest in mind. Not only that, but focusing on the tryout players makes much more sense. Second, the Titans ran a special teams drill that drew ire from national media, but it shows a lack of understanding of what this camp, and football for that matter, are all about. Titans coordinators spoke over the weekend, including Brian Daboll, and he spoke about Cam Ward and how impressive he has been in a short time so far. Daboll also broke down Tate's skillset and the interior offensive line battle. The Tennessee Titans new rookie class finally picked their numbers on Thursday and first-round pick Carnell Tate selected 14. It is certainly a silly conversation, but 14 just doesn't have the pop of 17. Chim Dike clearly was not willing to part with the number despite Tate's willingness to pay for it. However, all the other numbers fit perfectly fine for the rookie class. Regardless, numbers on the jersey don't mean numbers on the field and all of these rookies are more focused on the in-game results. Finding success as a rookie is different for each player as the expectations vary. The Tennessee Titans kickoff rookie mini-camp on Friday as the new additions get their first action and two rookies in particular need to make a strong impression. Carnell Tate and Anthony Hill are those names. Tate is being asked to be a lead receiver in year one while Hill is being talked about as a guy who can wear the green dot in his first season. The 2027 Mock Drafts are out as they always are this time of year and the Tennessee Titans, like all teams, will have big needs again next April. Right now, it seems like offensive tackle will be high on the list, if not the clear biggest need. That gets addressed in some of the mocks and sets up an interesting conversation about what needs to be prioritized. Whatever the needs, the Titans shouldn't be drafting as high as some of these exercises seem to have them. The Tennessee Titans ceiling is much higher this season than last year after all of the offseason additions that were made. It may not be the most likely outcome, but the playoffs are absolutely a possibility, which is something you couldn't say a year ago. The floor for the team though, is closer to last year than the ceiling. While the Titans could strike gold, it's more likely they improve by a win or two than to make the postseason. After the draft, undrafted free agency begins and the Titans have added quite a few interesting prospects like Tyren Montgomery, Aamil Wagner and Bishop Fitzgerald. Breaking through will be tough for an UDFA, but maybe these guys have a shot. What we know is the Titans will have to make room for these new players and cuts to the roster will have to be made.
