Michele Flamer : Rooted for Growth

This week's solocast explores the journey of healing and self-discovery, emphasizing the rewards of healing and the importance of recognizing the quiet, specific moments of growth and transformation. It delves into the ordinary moments of healing, the discovery of contentment and joy, and the process of healing and growth, ultimately encouraging listeners to embrace their own healing journey.Working on yourself to have the life you wantHealing isn't one moment, it's a series of quiet, specific ones. The moment you finally say you need help. The Tuesday night you're doing your homework before next week's session. And the Wednesday afternoon, six months later, when something would have leveled you before and it doesn't.In this solo episode, I'm getting honest about what it actually looks like to work on yourself. Not the performative version. The real one moving through my divorce at a snail's pace not because I was broken, but because I was paying attention. Making a pact with myself not to do it alone. Learning how to build real friendships and develop a kinder relationship with myself. We talk about the loneliness of healing, and why it's only a season. And we talk about what's waiting on the other side: the ordinary walks you savor, the joy that sneaks up on you, and what it feels like to finally be available to your own life again. If you're in the messy middle right now, this one's for you. Jimmy Belasco

On this week’s episode of Living OUT Loud, Michele sits down with her longtime friend and radiant storyteller, Jimmy Belasco is a man whose humor runs deep, whose heart runs deeper, and whose new memoir, I Was Born “Pretty,”reminds us that healing often arrives wrapped in laughter.Jimmy invites us into the Belasco Bunch: a preacher dad, a hilariously inappropriate mom, five kids, and a dog named Spot who “went to live on a farm” long before any of them realized what that really meant. It was a home soaked in faith, contradiction, chaos, and unconditional love. But sometimes that means that it shapes you in ways you only understand years later. (Anyone else relate?)Through stories of growing up queer in an ultra-conservative family, navigating love and loss, and finding his truest self later in life, Jimmy shows us how humor becomes a lifeline, how grief can carve you open in strangely beautiful ways, and how a mother’s pearls of wisdom can lead you back to your own heart. This conversation is tender, honest, and laugh-out-loud funny. The kind that feels like sitting at the kitchen table with someone who tells the truth without flinching. Together, Michele and Jimmy explore what it really means to live with courage, to love with your whole chest, and to step fully into your own light. Most of all, Jimmy reminds us that living OUT loud is not about perfection; it’s about presence, truth, and choosing love over fear every single time. This is an episode for anyone who’s ever lost someone, loved someone, or tried to figure out who they are in a world determined to tell them otherwise.Tune in… and bring a tissue. And maybe a giggle.Thank you again for listening... and share with one friend who could use some of this in their life.  Stay Loud + Stay Proud!Michele

Attachment in the Wild

Dating from Secure, Avoidant, and Everything In-Between: Dating isn’t just about finding the right person — it’s about showing up as the right version of yourself. In this episode, Michele + River pull back the curtain on their different attachment journeys. River shares what it’s like to move from anxious to avoidant, and now into a more secure space, while navigating the unpredictable waters of online dating — including the lingering instinct to think, “I need you to like me more than I like you, so I know it’s real.” Michele opens up about dating as a securely attached woman who once lived in the grip of codependency — where love meant over-giving and proving her worth — and how that transformation has made dating calmer, clearer, and a whole lot more fun. Together, they explore: The moments that signal a shift in attachment style How old patterns still whisper in new relationships The difference between protecting your peace and pushing people away Why secure attachment feels like freedom with roots Whether you’re swiping right, newly single, or just attachment-style curious, this conversation is a candid, compassionate look at how self-awareness changes how we date — and why the most important relationship you’ll ever have is the one you build with yourself.
