Krysti Reif·8 episodes
So, you've deconstructed yourself out of the church... Now what? A few years ago, you'd probably call me a "JesusFreak." But after a seemingly mundane and ultimately life-changing experience, I found myself leaving the church, renouncing my Christian title, and seeking God without a religion. While leaving Christianity was freeing, it's also lonely. So whether you're an agnostic, a deconstructing Christian, or something in between - let's talk and figure this out together.
Why listen
House of the Exvangelical Podcast is a short, personal show for people sorting through life after church. Krysti Reif mixes her own deconstruction story with warm guest conversations about purity culture, Mormonism, Catholicism, meditation, fear, confidence, and rebuilding spiritual identity outside inherited labels. It will especially resonate with listeners who want companionship more than debate while they process faith, doubt, and belonging.

Join our conversation with Director Christopher Shawn Shaw and Lead Actor/Co-Writer Thor Ramsey. We discussed their experiences in making the movie, personal relationships with God, and future projects - including a fascinating take on Christian time travel. By this point, you’ve probably heard the song “Modest is Hottest” by Matthew West. This cringe-y pop tune reminds us about the worst of purity culture, but what about those that have used modesty as a positive force in their lives? We’ll discuss this and more with my friend Conliegh - an active member of the LDS (Mormon) church. Let's talk purity culture! In this episode, former-Catholic Millie and I will discuss the church's teachings on sexuality and how its affected our adult lives. But this podcast isn't just about the past. We'll also give some preliminary thoughts about how to move forward from this presumably well-intentioned but sometimes damaging movement.
