He's raw, unfiltered, unedited, authentic, vulnerable and sometimes annoying. His laugh is infectious, and he often engages in long periods of awkward silence. He will tell it like it is, and whether you’re on the left or the right he’s bound to make you uncomfortable at some point. But he will definitely make you think. A licensed, practicing trial attorney for the last 25 years, he brings his legal experience and knowledge to the news of the day and current events here at home to offer different perspectives and additional things to consider.

It Was Russia, Not China? Or It Was China? Or Antifa?

The speech matters less for its facts than for its signal. Hawk reads it as telegraphing that this administration will not accept the results of the midterms, and he puts it alongside the rest of the week: Jay Clayton declining to say who won in 2020, Todd Blanche testifying the president may direct prosecutions of his enemies, and Marco Rubio and Stephen Miller announcing an expansion of groups designated as domestic terrorists under National Security Presidential Memorandum 7. His practical warning is about conspiracy charges, using a Texas ICE protest case where one participant reportedly received 30 years, and how one person's actions can be attributed to an entire group. He lays out the real timeline, the eight to ten weeks between Election Day and January when the new Congress is sworn in, notes Trump has lost roughly 15 election cases this year including before his own appointees, and asks where Democratic leadership is. Epstein Survivor Danielle Bensky Just Testified at Todd Blanche's Confirmation Hearing

North Carolina Republican Thom Tillis is now threatening to block the nomination unless Blanche meets personally with survivors within a day or two. The committee splits 11 Republicans to 10 Democrats, so a single Republican no vote stops it from reaching the floor, and Tillis says the earliest vote is roughly two weeks out. John Cornyn has separately voiced concerns over the settlement fund. Hawk is skeptical either will follow through. Bensky's testimony covers the January release of Epstein files in which, despite assurances about protecting identities, hundreds of victims were reportedly named and some addresses left unredacted. Hawk contrasts Blanche making time for two days with Ghislaine Maxwell, and her subsequent transfer to a minimum security facility, against never responding to a survivor. Stephen Miller Demonstrating How Every Accusation is a Confession

Then come the numbers. A Center for Strategic and International Studies report covering 1994 through 2020 found that right-wing extremists carried out the large majority of domestic terrorist attacks and plots in the United States, roughly two-thirds in 2019 and over 90 percent in early 2020, and were responsible for 335 of 357 domestic terror deaths across that period, about 93 percent. None of that appears in Miller's speech. Hawk's argument is that "political terrorist" here functions as a label for anyone who disagrees with Donald Trump, not a description of violence. He points to Republicans controlling the House, Senate, White House, and Supreme Court as evidence against the radical-left-domination framing, and asks basic questions about an organization no one can locate. The Three Words That Should End Todd Blanche's Nomination

Jay Clayton, questioned by Jon Ossoff and then Mark Warner, gets as close as any Trump nominee has to acknowledging 2020, allowing that Biden won the Electoral College and that Congress certified it, while still avoiding the popular vote. Hawk notes the pattern across every nominee for a year and a half. The real news is John Cornyn. Pressed on the roughly $1.8 billion settlement fund, Blanche did not reassure him, and Cornyn told CNN's Manu Raju he is truly undecided, with Thom Tillis wanting the fund fully dead. On an 11-10 Judiciary Committee, one Republican no vote ends it. Hawk also covers the judge who called the underlying case a fraud on the court. Mahmoud Khalil Just Sued the Heritage Foundation and Six Trump Officials

The defendants include the Heritage Foundation and its employees Victoria Coates and Robert Greenway, Stephen Miller, Marco Rubio, Markwayne Mullin, Todd Blanche, Kristi Noem, plus Betar and Canary Mission. Khalil's theory traces a line from the Heritage plan known as Project Esther, written after October 7th, to the targeting of activists by those groups, to his own arrest and months in detention during which he missed the birth of his first child. He is a green card holder married to a US citizen. Hawk walks through the evidence the complaint cites, largely the defendants' own public posts, and notes a federal judge's prior finding in the case. He covers the 1871 anti-Klan statute the suit is built on, Steve Vladeck's caution about whether the conspiracy theory will hold, a Hannity interview with Miller, and what happens procedurally next. The Haitians Who Saved Springfield, Ohio Are About to Lose Everything. And So Will Springfield.

Hawk focuses on Springfield, Ohio, where he grew up nearby, using two newsletters by Jim Swift at the Bulwark. Haitians came to Springfield at the request of the Republican governor and mayor to fill unfilled manufacturing jobs and reverse decades of population decline. They filled factories, opened businesses, started churches, and stabilized the city, until Donald Trump and JD Vance spread the fabricated story about immigrants eating pets, after which Pastor Carl Ruby says business relocation inquiries stopped entirely. The numbers and the human cost both land hard. Ohio's Haitian population produces an estimated $160 million in annual economic output and nearly $40 million in taxes. Governor Mike DeWine says the state will not interfere. Hawk covers the asylum backlog, the Kavanaugh stops concurrence, Sherrod Brown's push for an extension, and what returning to Haiti actually means. Is Todd Blanche Simply Stupid or is He Evil? Or Both?

The emails center on Ed Martin Jr., the right-wing lawyer pushed out as acting U.S. Attorney for D.C. and then parked at DOJ headquarters to run the weaponization working group. Blanche wrote "I am frustrated" within a month, set up weekly check-ins, and reassigned investigative lanes to his own deputies. Hawk covers Martin's role in the Letitia James mortgage case, the January 6th review, and the Biden auto pen probe, complete with a look at what an auto pen actually is. Along the way Hawk plays Andrew Weissmann on the one question he would ask Blanche, revisits Emil Bove's judicial confirmation hearing, and covers the Epstein grand jury transcripts, Tina Peters, and Blanche's defenders who argue he is a check on worse actors. ICE Suspends Vehicle Stops After Murdering Two Innocent Men in One Week

Hawk connects the killings to the legal warning from his previous video, that murder and assault are state charges a president cannot pardon, and to a Fourth Amendment argument about race-based stops, referencing an MSNBC segment and New York Times writer Mara Gay. He also previews Trump's Thursday prime time speech on the 2020 election, noting the lapsed federal statutes of limitations, and Dan Abrams on the SAVE Act. He then covers the Michigan Senate primary, where AIPAC-backed Haley Stevens faces Abdul El-Sayed for Gary Peters' open seat and is being mocked over a viral clip, before closing on good news: Trump has finally paid E. Jean Carroll the 5.6 million dollar judgment after exhausting his appeals. Get Ready for Trump's Speech Thursday Night to Claim the 2020 Election Was Stolen

Using a Nicolle Wallace MSNBC segment and his copy of Jack Smith's indictment, Hawk revisits the record. Trump was indicted on more than 40 felony counts across two jurisdictions for trying to overturn 2020, lost some 60 lawsuits, and his attorneys and fake electors were later charged. He also notes the reported White House task force preparing to release documents, and figures like Tulsi Gabbard and Bill Pulte tied to the declassification push. Hawk walks through Ari Melber's timeline of the 2020 effort, from Rudy Giuliani's suits and the fake elector slates to the pressure on Brad Raffensperger and Mike Pence, and asks whether Fox News, after its roughly $787 million Dominion settlement, will risk airing these claims again. Todd Blanche is Cooked

At the center is a lawsuit Donald Trump filed against the IRS and the Treasury Department after a contractor leaked his tax information. As Hawk lays out, the suit appears to have been time-barred by a two-year statute of limitations, sought far more than the roughly $10,000 the statute allowed, and pitted Trump against agencies he controls, meaning there was no genuine adversity between the parties. The judge, joined by a brief from 35 former federal judges, described it as a fraud on the court. The collusive settlement reportedly created a large compensation fund and an addendum, signed by Blanche, granting Trump and his associates immunity from IRS investigations. Hawk compares it to the ABC and Disney defamation payout, connects it to Trump v. Slaughter, and argues the DOJ's credibility with judges is collapsing. To All ICE and CBP Agents: You Will Be Held Accountable

Hawk walks through the legal reasoning. A presidential pardon reaches only federal offenses, so a future pardon would leave state prosecutions untouched. He points to how murder is charged at the state level, citing the Tyler Robinson case and the prosecution of the man accused of killing Minnesota's House Speaker, and notes that murder carries no statute of limitations. Looking ahead, Hawk argues that if Democrats take the House this fall, oversight committees will spend two years documenting the conduct of federal immigration agents and could hand that evidence to state attorneys general and county district attorneys. His message to agents is a warning about long-term legal exposure and a caution against assuming anyone in power will protect them. Lindsey Graham Was Not A Good Man

The Trump arc is the spine of the video. Hawk revisits Graham's 2016 warning that nominating Trump would destroy the party, his endorsement of Jeb Bush, and Trump giving out Graham's cell phone number, then the turn: endorsing Trump, working to overturn the 2020 election Joe Biden won, condemning Trump after January 6th, and getting back on board weeks later. Hawk also traces Graham's close friendship with Joe Biden, recalling the loss of Beau Biden and the Biden family's history, and how that warmth curdled into calls for impeachment over Afghanistan. He closes on Graham's fealty to Benjamin Netanyahu, the trips to Israel, the JCPOA, and the fallout from the Iran war, offering a blunt final assessment. Lindsay Graham Is Dead - His Legacy Will Be The Worst Of Him

Hawk builds his assessment around three moments he calls flashes of moral clarity: Graham's early 2016 warning that nominating Donald Trump would destroy the Republican Party, his Senate floor speech denouncing Trump after the January 6th insurrection, and his past defense of Joe Biden as a fundamentally good and decent man. In each case, Hawk argues, Graham soon reversed course and returned as one of Trump's most loyal foot soldiers. The throughline, in Hawk's telling, is a man who had a moral core and principles but proved willing to jettison them entirely for power. He contends Graham will be remembered not for those brief principled moments but for his complete supplication to Donald Trump, and he closes on the recent death of Mitch McConnell as another marker of an era ending. Tyler Robinson Will Face Trial for the Murder of Charlie Kirk

Hawk, a former criminal defense attorney, walks through the evidence now in the record, including the Discord group chat first reported by journalist Ken Klippenstein and additional text messages reported by the New York Times. He explains why this far exceeds the probable cause standard, why Twiggs received state and federal immunity, and why he expects Robinson to be held over for trial and, absent something dramatic, convicted. Along the way Hawk reacts to Fox News commentary from John Yoo on how the judge is running the courtroom, credits Megyn Kelly's legally sound take, and addresses the Candace Owens conspiracy theories along with the Ben Shapiro feud, dismissing the assassination claims as baseless. The Trial Within the Trial - The Tyler Robinson Preliminary Hearing Explained

Much of the argument centers on the recorded testimony of Lance Twiggs, Robinson's roommate and romantic partner, who has been granted state and federal immunity in exchange for testimony. Hawk walks through why spousal privilege does not apply, how hearsay and the statement-against-interest exception work, and why the prosecution wants to frame the interview as Robinson's confession. Along the way Hawk covers time-coded transcripts and redactions, why a televised hearing could complicate jury selection, the judge holding a prosecutor in contempt, Erica Kirk's presence in the gallery, and the paved-over crime scene the defense is questioning. His larger point: real courtrooms are slow, tedious, and nothing like television. Nobody Believes that Mitch McConnell Called Scott Jennings

Marjorie Taylor Greene brings her McConnell and AIPAC claims to The View, which gives Hawk an opening on a subject close to him: the roughly $60 million AIPAC has poured into congressional races this cycle, Miriam Adelson's spending against Thomas Massie over the Epstein Files Transparency Act, and where that leaves both parties. George Conway flatly calls Donald Trump an adjudicated rapist, pointing to the E. You Either Believe Women or You Don't

The rest of the video turns to Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner, credibly accused by Jenny Racicot of a violent 2021 sexual assault in reporting Hawk finds credible and Platner denies as categorically false. Hawk points out that Platner's two-minute response video spent only about fifteen seconds on the allegation before thanking voters, and walks through Racicot's CNN interview with Jake Tapper. A Wedgewood poll cited by Mediaite found 75% of Maine voters believe Platner should exit the race if another scandal broke. Hawk criticizes commenters on the left who dismiss Racicot, compares the response to how E. Jean Carroll was treated, and notes Ro Khanna, Ruben Gallego, Martin Heinrich, and Elizabeth Warren pulling endorsements while Kevin McCarthy fumbles the story on Fox News. Is This The End of Graham Platner?

Hawk, a former trial attorney, walks through the reporting, the accuser's account as told to Politico across three interviews, and the corroborating material the outlet says it reviewed. He notes the Maine statute of limitations leaves fifteen years in which criminal charges could still be brought, though no charges have been filed and the claims remain unproven. The heart of the video is a question about the Democratic Party. Hawk argues the left should be a party that takes credible allegations from women seriously rather than one that excuses the behavior, contrasting it with Republican support for candidates facing similar accusations. He also pushes back on commenters invoking innocent until proven guilty, noting that a Senate campaign is not a criminal trial and that Maine voters, not a jury, will weigh credibility before the July 13th deadline to replace a candidate on the ballot against Susan Collins. Democratic Socialists are Winning Because Establishment Democrats Ignored Their Base for 20 Years

Hawk argues it is an affordability problem. Zohran Mamdani's winning mayoral platform was built on housing costs, rent control, free transit, daycare, and taxing the rich. Those policies poll extremely well. The word socialism polls badly. Paul Krugman's Substack draws the distinction clearly: what most Americans actually support is social democracy, a market system with progressive taxation, safety nets, and regulation to limit inequality. DSA co-chair Megan Romer put it plainly after the Colorado result, telling the Democratic establishment they had been warned. Ro Khanna weighed in immediately after the race. Half of Americans cannot meet their basic daily needs. Trump's $2.2 billion financial disclosure dropped the same week as the Colorado primary. Establishment Democrats have been captured by corporate donors, the one percent, and AIPAC, and the voting base is done pretending otherwise. GOP in Trouble: Trump's Approval Is Down 20 Points in Every Key Senate State

Trump's 2025 financial disclosure showing $2.2 billion in personal income, much of it from crypto, is drawing backlash even from Republican voters in Florida. CNN aired a supercut of Trump on the 2016 campaign trail ripping politicians who enrich themselves in office, nearly ten years to the day before his own disclosure dropped. John Fetterman appeared on Fox News to say the only thing that would make him leave the Democratic Party is if it turns on Israel, a position held by 80 to 90 percent of the Democratic voting base. Joe Manchin publicly encouraged Fetterman to go independent. Study Confirms MAGA Voters Are Exactly Who We Thought They Were

The headline finding: fourteen of twenty-one study participants, two thirds, had an immediate negative reaction when asked about democracy. Hawk reads quotes from participants by name throughout the study, including a Wyoming homeschooling mother who says she does not like the word democracy, a Michigan retiree who says if they had a democracy it would be a problem, a Wyoming delivery driver who says every small town would be outvoted by cities, and a South Carolina woman who calls democracy two wolves and one sheep deciding who is for dinner. Hawk also addresses JVL's core thesis, that these voters respond to Trump's illiberalism not in spite of it but because of it, alongside Sarah Longwell's more sympathetic read of the same voters. He engages with his brother's argument that MAGA voters who reject Trump would lose their family systems, friendships, and community standing in doing so, and explains why that argument moves him somewhat but does not change his position. He closes with JVL's conclusion that domination of the political system is not enough for these voters, who want the people who disgust them to simply disappear. Reactions to Birthright Citizenship SCOTUS Decision

Hugh Hewitt praises the ruling while pivoting quickly to celebrating Kavanaugh's concurrence encouraging Congress to pass a law restricting birthright citizenship. Hawk responds by noting that Congress cannot even get all Republican votes for the Save Act, let alone pass a constitutional amendment. Lisa Rubin analyzes Kavanaugh's partial dissent in detail, with Hawk describing Kavanaugh as the kid in class who always needs to be different for attention. Mike Johnson responds to the ruling live on air, with Hawk pointing out that the plain language of the 14th Amendment's citizenship clause leaves no wiggle room for the executive order Trump signed on day one. Hawk reads from Clarence Thomas's dissent, which refers to the subjects of the 14th Amendment as the freed blacks, a phrase Hawk finds telling given that Thomas cannot bring himself to write the words Black Americans. Hawk also addresses Stephen Miller's public statement calling this the worst Supreme Court decision ever made, and fact-checks Trump's immediate claim that the United States is the only country in the world with birthright citizenship by noting that 33 countries on every continent have it. Supreme Court Upholds Birthright Citizenship - But Not Without Dissent

The majority opinion was written by Chief Justice John Roberts and joined by Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, Ketanji Brown Jackson, and Amy Coney Barrett. Brett Kavanaugh concurred in the judgment while dissenting in part. Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dissented, joined by Neil Gorsuch. The court grounded its decision in the historical context of the 14th Amendment's citizenship clause, tracing the language back to English common law, the Dred Scott decision and its widespread condemnation, Attorney General Edward Bates' wartime opinion on citizenship, the Civil Rights Act of 1866, and the court's prior precedent in United States v. Wong Kim Ark. Hawk connects the executive order directly to Stephen Miller's documented stated goal of an America populated almost entirely by people who look like him, and explains why birthright citizenship was the primary legal mechanism the administration intended to use to strip citizenship from Black and brown Americans descended from earlier generations born in the United States. He closes by noting that Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito remain on the court, and what that means for the 2026 midterm Senate races in Texas and Maine if either justice resigns under a Republican-controlled Senate. The TPS Ruling and the Roberts Supreme Court

Serwer's piece documents the Trump administration's explicitly race-based statements about Haitian immigrants, including claims they all have AIDS, eat household pets, are genetically predisposed to crime, and are poisoning the blood of the country. Samuel Alito's majority opinion declined to repeat any of those statements, substituting his own race-neutral explanations for what they might have meant instead. Justice Elena Kagan's dissent noted that the evidence was plain to see in statements the majority and even Trump's own lawyers could not bring themselves to repeat. The article brings in legal scholars including Guy-Uriel Charles of Harvard Law, who describes the ruling as setting up an impossible burden for plaintiffs, Anderson Francois of Georgetown, who notes that the administration now needs only a plausible pretext to discriminate while Black plaintiffs need proof no amount of evidence will satisfy, and Melissa Murray of NYU, who calls this a colorblind constitution the architects of Jim Crow would love. Serwer also traces Alito's selective application of intent, showing he is perfectly willing to read racial motive into policies when white people could be perceived as the victims, as in his 2009 Ricci v. DeStefano opinion, but refuses to do so here. This Supreme Court is a Weapon of White Supremacy

Haitian plaintiffs did raise exactly that claim, arguing that Trump's decision to strip their TPS was motivated by racial animus and citing Trump and administration officials' own racist statements about Haitian immigrants. Alito's response in the majority opinion was that because Trump expresses hostility toward immigrants broadly, his actions cannot be considered racially motivated. Hawk points out that this reasoning ignores Trump's own documented statements about countries populated by Black and brown people, and the fact that of approximately 6,500 refugees admitted to the United States in 2025, all but three were white South Africans. Justice Elena Kagan wrote in dissent that the evidence from Trump's own statements made clear the TPS revocation targeting Haitian immigrants was driven by race and racial animus, and that those statements were so egregious Alito did not quote or cite them in the majority opinion. Hawk connects this ruling to the court's recent dismantling of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and the resulting race to redraw congressional maps across Confederate states, arguing that together these decisions represent a court that has become an instrument of white supremacy and authoritarian consolidation of executive power. He plays a clip of Joe Scarborough's reaction and walks through an Axios report on moderate Democrats describing the results as an earthquake. Hawk also covers New York Attorney General Letitia James expressing disappointment in Mamdani, and plays a clip of New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer going on Fox News to attack the results and conflate criticism of Israel's policies in Gaza with antisemitism. Hawk responds directly to Gottheimer's framing and his proposed legislation titled No Grounds for Discrimination, connected to a Brooklyn coffee shop named Poetica that banned Congressman Goldman over his support for Israeli policy. Ben Shapiro aired his own criticism, calling out JD Vance for getting embarrassed by Iran and saying he has never seen a weaker Republican performance. Hawk also plays a clip of Mark Thiessen, a former George W. Bush speechwriter and one of the most consistent Trump boosters at the Washington Post and on Fox News, breaking from his pattern of unconditional praise to call the Iran deal a disaster. Hawk walks through a list of Thiessen's previous columns dating back to March, each one predicting or celebrating Trump's imminent victory in Iran, as context for how significant it is to hear Thiessen criticize the deal at all. Hawk covers the financial terms of the agreement, including the release of roughly $100 billion in previously frozen Iranian assets that is already underway, on top of a $300 billion reconstruction fund. He also references the deal's language committing the United States to lifting all sanctions on Iran, including on oil sales, and contrasts the entire outcome with what the Obama-era JCPOA accomplished without a war or a closed Strait of Hormuz. Donald Trump Doesn't Understand The War He Just Lost to Iran

Hawk plays a clip of Nichols appearing on Deadline White House with Nicole Wallace on June 22nd. He covers Trump's claim that Iran's enriched uranium stockpile is essentially worthless, a reversal from his earlier position that Iran must surrender its entire nuclear program. Hawk points out that Iran only resumed enrichment after Trump tore up the JCPOA in 2018, and that JD Vance's announcement of independent nuclear inspectors entering Iran was something the Obama deal already secured from 2015 to 2018. Hawk argues that Iran won this war not militarily but economically and psychologically, by accurately profiling both Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu from the start and understanding exactly how each would respond to domestic economic pressure. He notes Trump was warned before the war began, including by Tucker Carlson, that Iran's first move would be closing the Strait of Hormuz. He didn't listen. Hawk also addresses Pete Hegseth's role, the Iranian delegation's refusal to shake JD Vance's hand, and the unresolved conflict between Israel and Lebanon that continues to block any lasting deal. The MOU's opening term demands an immediate end to all military operations including in Lebanon, a war Israel is fighting against Hezbollah, an Iranian proxy. Israel was not part of the negotiations, is not a signatory, and is not named. That first sentence effectively legitimizes Hezbollah. Iran retains joint control of the Strait of Hormuz with Oman. The U.S. commits to lifting every category of sanctions: UN Security Council resolutions, IAEA Board of Governors resolutions, and all unilateral U.S. primary and secondary sanctions. Iran receives $100 billion in unfrozen assets with no spending restrictions and a $300 billion reconstruction fund guaranteed by the United States, also with no restrictions. Nothing in the text prevents Iran from directing that money to Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, or ballistic missile development. On the nuclear question, Hawk notes that no intelligence agency on the planet assessed Iran as close to a nuclear weapon before this war, and Tulsi Gabbard testified before Congress that Iran had not rebuilt the infrastructure destroyed last June. The two concessions Iran actually makes, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and a pledge not to pursue nuclear weapons, describe conditions that already existed before the war started. The contrast with Obama's JCPOA is direct. Obama froze all sanctions, secured a ten-year framework, fired no missiles, lost no American lives, and released $1.7 billion that was already Iranian money owed from a 1977 arms deal. Trump spent $100 billion on the war, got 14 to 15 Americans killed, sent gas and grocery prices surging, nearly triggered a global recession, and is handing Iran $400 billion with no conditions. Iran proved its regime can survive a full U.S. and Israeli military assault. Gulf states now know the U.S. cannot protect them. Israel is more isolated than at any point in modern history. The 14 Point Iran MOU Point by Point: How the United States Gave Away Everything and Gained Nothing

The MOU commits the United States to ensuring a $300 billion reconstruction fund for Iran, lifting all sanctions regardless of type, releasing all frozen Iranian assets, and allowing immediate oil sales upon signing. Iran's nuclear program and enriched uranium stockpile are left entirely unaddressed. Israel was excluded from the negotiations and is not a party to the agreement. The signing ceremony is scheduled for Friday. Critics cited in this video span the political spectrum, from Hudson Institute fellow Josh Block to Fox News contributor Andy McCarthy, who compared the deal to Neville Chamberlain's capitulation before World War II, to National Review editor Philip Klein, who called it money for nothing. Even Ben Domenech, husband of Meghan McCain, acknowledged the deal failed to achieve any of the stated objectives before spinning it as a win. The second story covers federal prosecutors in Minneapolis announcing a 94-page indictment against 15 individuals allegedly affiliated with Antifa. Hawk notes that Antifa is not a formal organization, that 75 percent of the Minnesota U.S. Attorney's Office staff quit earlier this year, and that the marquee piece of evidence presented at the press conference was a Facebook post reading "we need to become ungovernable." Half of similar cases brought by this DOJ have already been dismissed. Uncontroverted Facts: As an Attorney I Could Never Have Defended This Man

The uncontroverted facts: Cyrus was shot in the back. If someone is pointing a gun at you and you shoot them, they don't get hit in the back. Hawk also addresses that the jury was never told Mr. Chow had been involved in two prior shootings as a private citizen. Hawk reflects on his own criminal defense career and the moral weight of defending clients in cases involving rape and child sexual assault, and why he walked away from criminal defense law after just three years. Racism in America in 2026 is part of this conversation, and Hawk acknowledges the limits of his own perspective while using his platform to elevate Black creators speaking to that lived experience. Pete Hegseth is a Racist Transphobic Cosplay Warrior who Hates Women

Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense and former Fox News weekend co-host, is facing mounting scrutiny across three major stories that broke in a single day. Hegseth has classified the Pentagon press area, effectively barring journalists from accessing public affairs officials, a move that is expected to face legal challenges after courts have already ruled against him multiple times for restricting press access. A federal appeals court blocked Trump and Hegseth's transgender military ban in a scathing 107-page opinion written by Judge Robert Wilkins, who found the policy arbitrary, demeaning, and unsupported by any factual basis, noting that transgender service members have served honorably and pose no threat to national security. The New York Times reported that Hegseth personally intervened in a slate of 22 Navy admiral promotions, blocking candidates who are disproportionately Black and female, actions that current and former defense officials say appear to violate the merit-based, apolitical promotion process. Trump's $1.776B Insurrectionist Slush Fund is DEAD

Trump sued the IRS for $10 billion over an unlawful tax return disclosure, a lawsuit that was time-barred, improperly pleaded under the statute, and lacked any adversity between the parties since Trump controlled the very agencies he was suing. Todd Blanche and the DOJ mounted zero defense, then quietly settled for $1.776 billion in taxpayer money, including a sweeping addendum that would have permanently shielded Trump, his family, his businesses, and his associates from any future federal investigation. On May 27th, a group of 35 former federal judges, represented by ethics attorney Norm Eisen, filed a motion alleging the settlement was a product of collusion and a fraud on the court. By May 29th, a federal judge had reopened the case. By Friday night, the Wall Street Journal reported the White House was scrambling. By Monday, it was dead. Trump has until June 12th to respond to the court's order. Republican senators, Mike Pence, and now the federal judiciary all lined up against it. The Intentional Destruction of 60 Minutes - To Please Donald Trump

Hawk walks through Jonathan V. Last's Bulwark newsletter "The Murder of 60 Minutes," a deep look at how Barry Weiss and the Ellisons are systematically dismantling CBS News and 60 Minutes to appease Donald Trump and clear the path for billion-dollar media mergers. 60 Minutes generated $206 million in advertising revenue in 2024, yet CBS's corporate parent Paramount SkyDance is willing to destroy a profitable and iconic institution. David Ellison paid $150 million for Barry Weiss's Free Press website and installed her at CBS News, where the ratings have cratered across the board. Correspondents Sharon Alphonse and Cecilia Vega were pushed out. Producers Tanya Simon and Drag Mihalovich were fired. Leslie Stahl was bypassed for a Netanyahu interview she had worked on for months. Hawk connects this to the broader pattern of corporate surrender: law firms, universities, media companies, and figures like Jeff Bezos publicly capitulating to Trump in exchange for favorable regulatory treatment. Larry Ellison has reportedly already discussed what he plans to do to CNN anchors Trump dislikes, with Warner Brothers Discovery in Ellison's sights next. Trump's Iran War is an Epic Failure on All Fronts

Republican senators Ted Cruz, Lindsey Graham, and Roger Wicker initially called the deal a disaster and a surrender before reversing course. Former National Security Advisor John Bolton, Mike Pompeo, and analysts from The Atlantic and The Bulwark all weighed in on what amounts to the worst U.S. strategic defeat since the Iraq War. Robert Kagan's piece in The Atlantic argued that Trump's endgame was surrender, and that Iran is using the ceasefire to lock in Strait of Hormuz control by forcing nations including South Korea, Turkey, and India to normalize diplomatic and economic ties with Tehran. Russia and China benefit most. Iran emerges stronger militarily and economically. Hamas and Hezbollah get refunded. Israel is left isolated. And the United States loses 20% of the world's energy supply to Iranian control. Galen and Hawk break down the mechanics of the fund, how it is structured around a secret five-person commission appointed by acting Attorney General Todd Blanch, and how Trump's known appetite for financial self-dealing raises serious questions about where the money actually ends up. The conversation moves into Trump's polling numbers, now hovering around 37%, and what that floor means for the 2026 midterms. The two examine the Democratic Party's structural failures, from the DNC autopsy that may never see the light of day, to Chuck Schumer's pattern of extracting nothing from Republican negotiations, to the rise of left populist candidates like Zohran Mamdani and the corporate establishment's coordinated effort to crush them before 2028. Galen draws on his experience inside the 2004 Bush re-election campaign to explain how the MAGA base mirrors the Christian conservative movement that was underestimated for decades, and connects that history to why the Democratic Party keeps treating its own base as an inconvenience. The conversation covers the Harris campaign's failure to counter the trans ad that aired nationally during college football, Thomas Massie and the Epstein files, Ken Paxton's endorsement by Trump over John Cornyn, voter suppression mechanics in Texas, the 2028 presidential race, Galen's new organization civicforum.org, and whether the entire American political system is even fixable from the inside. "Checkmate" is From a Persian Phrase Meaning "The King is Helpless"

Iran now controls the Strait of Hormuz. They have access to 30 of their 33 missile launching sites along the Persian Gulf coastline. They have tens of thousands of drones, mobile missile launchers moved inland, and have already struck a Qatari natural gas facility that will take years to repair. The American military umbrella that once protected Gulf State energy infrastructure has been exposed as ineffective. Hawk walks through Kagan's full argument, including what a post-American world order looks like when China and Russia emerge stronger, when Gulf States and European nations begin normalizing relations with Iran, and when America's weapons stockpiles are critically depleted after six weeks of nonstop bombing with no clear strategic objective from the start. Fox News analyst and retired Army General Jack Keane says the U.S. is preparing to return to full-scale combat operations. Trump has reportedly asked the intelligence community to assess what it would look like to simply declare victory and leave. The U.S. has also just rejected Iran's latest peace deal. The nuclear question is real. Israel has the Samson Option. Trump is backed into a corner. Neither Trump nor Netanyahu has shown restraint when losing. Where is My Trump Phone!?!?!

Hawk breaks down the long history of Trump merchandise grifts targeting loyal MAGA supporters, from Trump Bibles and fake Gibson Les Pauls to NFTs now worth nothing, digital trading cards, gold high-top sneakers, and Trump watches with missing letters on the face. The $60 million phone scam sits alongside the $300 million election defense fund raised after 2020, money that was kept rather than spent on legal challenges. The pattern is consistent: non-refundable deposits, no contractual obligation, and supporters who return again and again regardless. One supporter put deposits on four phones and lost $400. The fine print protected the Trump family entirely. With gas prices climbing and questions about democratic institutions growing louder, the Trump phone story is a case study in the financial relationship between a political movement and the merchandise empire built around it. Four Ways to Save America

Next, Hawk calls for expanding the Supreme Court by four seats, drawing nominees from federal judges who held the line against the Trump administration, including Judge Boasberg. Ketanji Brown Jackson gets the nod for Chief Justice. Puerto Rico and Washington DC become states, adding four new senators and giving millions of Americans real representation for the first time. Roe v. Wade gets codified into law nationwide. And critically, Hawk argues Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries must not lead the Senate or House, citing their stated loyalties to foreign interests over their own base. All four items fit on one piece of paper. Voting rights. Court reform. Statehood. Reproductive rights. That's the plan. Democrats Can Still Win The House in November

The generic ballot still shows a six-point Democratic advantage. Since early last year, Democrats have outperformed Kamala Harris's 2024 numbers by 13 to 15 points across 32 special elections. Republican enthusiasm is low, the party is divided, and Donald Trump is not on the ballot this fall. Trump's approval on the economy, inflation, and immigration is worse than Joe Biden's numbers were at their lowest. The Iran war is historically unpopular, and with the Strait of Hormuz still closed, the worst economic pain — including potentially $10-per-gallon gas in California — has not yet hit. Eighty percent of Americans, in a strongly bipartisan poll, blame Trump and the Iran war for rising prices. That economic pain is expected to peak right before the midterms. On the gerrymandering front, Texas redrew its map to gain seats — but three of those new districts are heavily Hispanic and Latino, populations that shifted toward Trump in 2024. Those gains may evaporate, potentially turning into Democratic pickups. Hawk also speaks honestly about the racial dimension of these court decisions, reflecting on the experience of Black Americans who are not surprised by any of this — and what it means that the crowning achievement of the Civil Rights era has effectively been dismantled, rendering the votes of 26 million Black Americans in the South nearly meaningless. It is Not The South - It is THE CONFEDERACY

From Pete Hegseth's erasure of Black Americans and women from military history, to Donald Trump's dismantling of DEI programs across the federal government, to Stephen Miller's openly stated goal of ethnic cleansing, Hawk connects the dots between policy and intent. The firing of hundreds of thousands of Black federal workers, the targeting of universities and corporations with DEI policies, and the Supreme Court's systematic gutting of the Voting Rights Act are all part of the same pattern. Chief Justice John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, and Samuel Alito have spent decades working to eradicate the Voting Rights Act, the landmark 1965 legislation that Hawk argues represented the first true moment the United States became a functioning representative democracy. That legacy is now being dismantled in real time. Hawk makes the case that in 2026, there is no longer any reasonable argument that a Trump voter is not fully aware of what they are supporting. Racism, misogyny, bigotry, homophobia, and transphobia were not hidden in the 2024 campaign — they were the campaign. If the shoe fits, it fits. Kash Patel is Coming Undone

Rather than letting it go, Patel has responded in ways that are raising serious red flags. He filed a $250 million defamation lawsuit against Fitzpatrick and The Atlantic. He then directed the FBI to open a criminal investigation into the journalist who wrote the story. And now he has ordered polygraph testing of more than two dozen current and former members of his own security detail and IT staff. Hawk points out a glaring legal contradiction: by suing for defamation, Patel is claiming the allegations are false. But by simultaneously launching a criminal leak investigation inside the FBI to find out who talked to Fitzpatrick, he is effectively confirming the stories are true. You cannot claim something is fabricated while hunting down the people who allegedly fabricated it. FBI rank and file agents have no loyalty to Patel. Former agents have gone on record saying the level of contempt inside the bureau for Patel is unlike anything they have seen. He has purged roughly a thousand senior agents, hollowed out institutional knowledge built over decades, and the DOJ has lost close to 7,000 employees nationwide. The people keeping this country safe are being fired, overworked, and replaced with loyalty over competence. Epstein Suicide Note

The note's contents are brief and striking, referencing 16-year-old charges, a choice to say goodbye, and the phrase "no fun" underlined. Hawk compares the alleged suicide note to a second handwritten note also found in Epstein's cell, noting consistent handwriting, similar phrasing, and that same underlined phrase appearing in both. Also examined is a letter allegedly sent from Epstein to convicted sex offender Larry Nassar, which many on social media have pointed to as proof the suicide note is fake. Hawk compares available examples of Jeffrey Epstein's actual signature from legal documents to the signature on the Nassar letter and finds they do not match, leading him to conclude the Nassar letter is likely fraudulent. Nicholas Tartaglione, Epstein's cellmate, a former NYPD officer convicted of four murders for hire on behalf of a drug cartel, found the note after Epstein's death and gave it to his attorneys rather than prison officials. A judge then ordered it sealed in a courthouse safe, where it remained until last week. Hawk walks through the evidence carefully and shares his honest assessment of what the handwriting comparison reveals about the authenticity of the suicide note. John Roberts Is A White Supremacist

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was the law that made the United States a representative democracy for the first time. Seventeen years after it passed, a young John Roberts joined the Department of Justice and reportedly began what Hawk describes as a 42-year project to undermine Black voting rights and eliminate proportional Black representation in the House of Representatives. Roberts climbed from DOJ attorney to federal judge to Supreme Court Justice to Chief Justice of the United States. Hawk argues that every step of that career was guided by a singular purpose: stripping Black Americans of their constitutional right to vote and their right to fair representation in Congress. That goal, according to Hawk, was accomplished within the past week. Hawk reflects on growing up in rural Ohio and how easily he could have turned out differently, using that contrast to highlight what he sees as the deliberate, career-long racism embedded in Roberts' judicial record. House Republicans, Jeffrey Epstein and Donald Trump

Hawk covers the full arc of the Epstein files fight, from Pam Bondi's heavily redacted document release to the DOJ and FBI memo closing all investigations with no client list and no further prosecutions. Massie and California Democrat Ro Khanna co-authored the Epstein Files Transparency Act, eventually passing it into law in December 2025, leading to the release of over 3 million pages of documents. Among the revelations in those files: at least one credible allegation against Trump involving a 13-year-old, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik caught lying about his relationship with Epstein based on email evidence in the documents, and a sitting president telling a congresswoman directly, in the Oval Office, that releasing the files would hurt his friends. Marjorie Taylor Green and her children received death threats from Trump supporters. Pam Bondi sat before the House Oversight Committee while ten Epstein survivors stood two rows behind her, none of whom had ever been contacted by the DOJ. Ghislaine Maxwell, convicted on five felony counts including child sex trafficking, may be pardoned. The Epstein files story is far from over. Cleetus P. Twatwaffle Weighs In on Kash Patel's Alcohol Habits

Along the way, Hawk covers meeting Kash Patel in person at a Stockton, California event, receiving a signed bottle of Kash Patel Bourbon numbered "9," and making an Epstein Island joke that got him immediately escorted out. Patel's autographed Etsy merch store gets a full review, including a memorable piece featuring Patel and Pete Hegseth standing in front of a burning Capitol each saying "Hold my beer." Hawk runs through Patel's literary catalog, including "Government Gangsters," "The Plot Against the King," and the 2000 Mules tie-in, noting that Patel managed to write multiple books in which he is also the hero. An exclusive scoop on Patel's upcoming fourth book rounds out the coverage. Kyle Rittenhouse's spider bite, Charlie Kirk's tribute merch, and a hemorrhoid interruption also make appearances. Cleetus wraps up by reminding viewers not to protest, because ICE is watching. Men, Trauma and Feelings - A Raw Mental Health Conversation

The conversation moves into the roots of racism as an unconscious cultural conditioning rather than simple bigotry, drawing on the work of Lee Atwater and the psychological destabilization many white Americans experienced seeing Barack Obama in power. Both men open up about their own narcissistic parents, the invisible trauma of what doesn't happen in childhood, and how shame functions as the engine driving so much dysfunction, from MAGA politics to family estrangement. Hype.R.Vigilence shares his personal story of undiagnosed autism, addiction, a house fire at sixteen, a secret brother, and a restraining order against his own father, tracing how unprocessed feelings spiral into crisis when there is no safe space to feel them. The two dig into IFS and parts work, the pathologizing of human experience under capitalism, and why mental injuries, not mental illness, is the more honest and useful frame. They challenge the destination-based fantasy of healing, arguing that healing and living are the same process. The discussion closes on community, men's work, somatic healing, holding space, the power of being witnessed, and what it means to find genuine pride as a child of a narcissist. Destruction of the Voting Rights Act

Sam Alito's majority opinion rewrites the Voting Rights Act to impose a race-neutral standard on a law that was explicitly and intentionally race-conscious — designed to protect Black voters from racial vote dilution and racially discriminatory gerrymandering. Legal scholar Rick Hasen of UCLA Law calls it possibly the worst Supreme Court decision in 100 years. Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry has already announced he is canceling May primaries to redraw congressional maps and eliminate Black representation from the state's congressional delegation. Tennessee's Nashville district — carved up like a pizza to dilute Black and Democratic votes — is a preview of what comes next nationwide. The Voting Rights Act, last reauthorized by Congress with near-unanimous bipartisan support in 2006, no longer has teeth. Section 5 was gutted in 2013. Section 2 is gone now. What remains is a statute with no enforcement mechanism and no path to sue.
