This Episode introduces “THE BUZZ”, my new single. I think you know by now that I pride myself on the variety of my music. I cross a lot of genres. But this one maybe takes the cake. I like to describe “The Buzz” as short, sweet and totally different. With me today are the two extraordinary musicians who are featured on the track - Darius de Haas and Dave Eggar. Darius is the vocalist. He is a Broadway star of “Rent” and “Kiss of the Spider Woman”, and he’s the singing voice of the character Shy Baldwin on the international hit “The Marvelous Mrs Maisel”. Dave Eggar plays the cello on the track. He is a world class musician who also crosses genres from rock to jazz to classical. He played on my recent single, “Ma Petite Fleur String Quartet”, and he’s the guy who played the iconic cello work on Coldplay’s massive hit “Viva La Vida”. Both have previously been guests on the podcast. --------------------------------------- “THE BUZZ”Click Here For The Official VideoClick Here For All Links —-------------------------------------- The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries! I’m always thinking about ways to make the podcast more interesting and engaging. So about a year ago, in May 2025, I came up with the idea of creating a guest testimonial page on the podcast website — a place where guests could share a few thoughts about their experience on the show. From the very beginning of the podcast, guests have been extraordinarily kind and complimentary about their interviews, how they were treated, and the overall experience. But until then, those comments were mostly private. Neither my listeners nor future guests really knew what was being said behind the scenes. So I created a page on the website called “Guest Voices” to capture and share these comments. The first testimonial came from Melissa Errico, the wonderful singer and Broadway star. Since then, approximately 200 guests have contributed testimonials. This REFLECTIONS discusses how these testimonials have affected me, my guests and the podcast.

This Special Collections episode is called Broadway - The Performers. Each episode of Special Collections focuses on a particular common thread that ties together some of my guests. In this episode, that common thread is Broadway. Each of the guests featured here is an accomplished and acclaimed performer in one or more Broadway productions. Broadway is one of the great storytelling traditions in the world — where music, lyrics, story, choreography, and performance come together to create powerful emotional experiences. What connects each of the artists in this collection is not only their Broadway experience, but their love of performing — and their deep connection to the Broadway tradition. Here are the six performers who are profiled in this episode: ⸻ Shoshana Bean - two-time Tony Award–nominated actress. “Hell’s Kitchen”, “Mr. Saturday Night”, “Wicked”, “Waitress”, “Hairspray”. Melissa Errico - Tony Award nominee whose Broadway credits include “My Fair Lady” and “Les Miserables”. Sam Harris - Cy Coleman’s “The Life”, Tommy Tune’s “Grease”, “The Producers”, “Jesus Christ Superstar”. Ann Hampton Callaway - “Swing”. BroadwayWorld’s “Celebrity of the Year”. This REFLECTIONS episode is called A Really Interesting Trip. One of the things I’ve come to appreciate over time is how this platform has expanded in ways that I never could have predicted. When I started the podcast, my focus was very clear. I’m a musician, and I wanted to have conversations with other musicians—people who had devoted their lives to their craft, who had stories to tell, and music to share. And that’s how it began. But something really interesting happened along the way.My guests began introducing me to other guests. Not just musicians, but actors, writers, directors, photographers, poets and other artists working in many different disciplines. And with each new conversation, the scope of the show began to expand. Not by design—but organically. Listen to the story.

Sir George Martin was the Beatles’ extraordinary producer and the most acclaimed and celebrated music producer of the rock era. No one comes close to Sir George for the innovation and sheer perfection of his body of work. It’s almost an accident that he worked with the Beatles. Before meeting them he was in charge of EMI’s Parlophone label where he produced comedy and novelty acts like Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan. His introduction to the Beatles only came about after they were rejected by 17 other record labels. When he brought them in for an audition he was not very impressed, but he was intrigued by their energy and charisma. Sir George has said that in the beginning he was the master and they were the students, but in time this role reversed and they became the masters and he the student. This transformation was due to the genius of Lennon and McCartney and their constant pushing him to create more and different sounds and effects. It’s beyond discussion that the Beatles would not have been the Beatles without George Martin. From convincing Paul to use a string quartet on “Yesterday”, to his slowed down then sped up piano solo on “In My Life”, to his creation of a circus swirl on “Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite”, to his seamless combination of two takes at different speeds and different keys on “Strawberry Fields” - he truly was the 5th Beatle. He went on to produce a host of other artists and hits including Jeff Beck, the Mahavishnu Orchestra, America and Gerry and the Pacemakers. In his career, he produced 30 number-one hit singles in the UK and 23 number-one hits in the United States, winning six Grammys. Think about how lucky we were that fate brought together the Beatles and Sir George Martin. Together they changed the world. —----------------------------------------------------------- The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries! Introducing Follow Your Dream Reflections - a new feature of the podcast where from time to time Robert shares observations drawn from his many conversations with remarkable creative artists. After more than 725 conversations with artists from around the world, Robert has begun to notice certain patterns about creativity and the artistic life. Here are the first two Reflections. #1: The Self-Starters. In this Reflection, Robert discusses one of the most striking patterns he has observed: how many great artists are self-starters who discover their passion and pursue their craft from a very young age. #2: The Virtuous Creative Loop. In this Reflection, Robert describes what he calls the virtuous creative loop — the idea that conversations with artists can lead to relationships, collaborations, and new creative work. In other words, conversation becomes connection, connection inspires creativity, creativity leads to new art, and that new art is then shared globally. —----------------------------- CLICK HERE FOR TRANSCRIPTS OF THESE REFLECTIONS
Hi everybody, and welcome to our 5th Anniversary celebration! I started this podcast during the pandemic when musicians like me could neither perform nor even rehearse. I needed something creative to do, and someone suggested to me that I should start a podcast. But I had no idea what that was. I had never even listened to one.But the more I looked into it the more I thought why not give it a shot. I had no audience and no guests, but I did have an idea - to encourage people to follow their dream, just as I had followed my youthful music dream later in life.So on March 21, 2021 I aired my first show. My guest was “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, America’s most famous radio personality, a friend of mine and a true National Treasure. Bruce introduced the Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1965! And from there I was off to the races. The show started to catch on and grow. It took two years to get to 1 million downloads. Today we’re at 4.5 million downloads with listeners on every continent in 200 countries! I’ve now released over 725 episodes. My guests are all world class creative artists - musicians, actors, authors, directors, photographers, storytellers, even poets. My interviews are conversations, with humor and respect. And I’m pleased to say that some of my guests have become musical collaborators with me as well, which is the icing on the cake.I want to thank you, the audience, for making this show so popular. I look forward to year 6. As I like to say, keep on rockin - and we’ll see you in the next episode.—-----------------------------------------------------------The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries!
