A Year In Horror

Fantasia International Film Festival 2026, the 30th edition. This is the annual film festival founded in 1996 and held in Montreal, Canada. It specialises in genre films, including fantasy, horror, science fiction, and cult cinema, and draws over 100,000 attendees each year including Marc Canale and myself, old hand at this now, two years on the trot for A Year in Horror. Once again we've been invited to take part in covering the big one and we can not wait to get stuck in. Today we both offer up our top 5 picks that we can not wait to see during the festival run. Plus a stack of potential greats in our also ran choices.

UK Thrashers Acid Reign are back with a new album 'Daze of the Week'. Writer and director Damian McCarthy is also back, he, with his latest movie 'Hokum'. I can think of nothing better than mashing up the two of them into a fantastical English/Irish folk horror thrash assault. This is the result.
