Probate is another unusual source that most agents don’t think of often. Probate is a legal process where the validity and authenticity of a will are determined. It also refers to the administration of the deceased person’s estate who did NOT have a will. Typically the fate of the property will be decided by the beneficiaries or a probate attorney. Remember that just because someone has missed a payment or multiple payments does not necessarily mean they will be a short sale. The average homeowner with a mortgage has more than $150,000 in equity in their home.
