Send us Fan MailFaith Around And Find OutWhen the worst has happened, and there’s no sign things are getting better anytime soon…We are encouraged to keep going, keep working, keep trusting, and to never give in to the despair of the moment—even if it lasts for a long while.“Let us know, let us press on to know the LORD; his appearing is as sure as the dawn; he will come to us like the showers, like the spring rains that water the earth.” — Hosea 6:3In Hosea’s time, the social covenants had broken down, society was collapsing, and they were on the verge of being conquered and taken into exile by a foreign nation.Just as dawn follows every night, and the spring rains give new life to the earth, God’s redeeming presence will renew and deliver us.So we keep showing up.We keep loving. We keep trusting that dawn is coming. If we faith around, we’ll find out.I’m Horace McMillon. Send us Fan MailWhen We’ve Been Struggling for a Long TimeWhen we’ve been struggling for a long time, it can be easy to lose hope.We begin to wonder if anything will ever change. We grow tired of trying. And sometimes we start to see ourselves as others do.Matthew tells us,“Then suddenly a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cloak.” (Matthew 9:20)Twelve years.Twelve years of disappointment. Twelve years of setbacks. Twelve years of struggle.Matthew records Jesus saying that her faith had made her well. What was it about her faith? She never gave up hope. After all those years, she still believed that healing was possible. She refused to let other people’s judgment become her identity.A woman with her condition was considered unclean and wasn’t supposed to be in public. But she did not define herself by what others thought of her.And she did what she could with what she had.She could not stand in front of the crowd. She could not command attention. She could only reach out and touch the hem of his cloak. So that’s what she did.Her story shows faith as persistence. The willingness to keep hoping. The courage to keep showing up. The decision to do what we can with what we have.I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Send us Fan MailA Prayer for What We Leave BehindLoving God,Help us not be so focused on where we are going that we forget what we are leaving behind.Help us create opportunity and space for others.Space to contribute.Space to participate.Space to offer the gifts they have been given.May what remains after us not simply reflect what we accomplished, but also how we helped others bring good into the world.Amen.#60SecondsOfHope #DailyPrayer #SpiritualEncouragement #Encouragement #HopeForToday #Prayer #DailyHope #FaithAndLife #SpiritualGrowth #DailyDevotion #Inspiration #Hope #Faith #DiscipleshipSupport the show
Send us Fan MailWhat Are We Leaving Behind?Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about where we’re going and what’s ahead of us that we forget to consider what we’re leaving behind.Even as Abram continued a journey of uncertain length toward an unknown destination, he repeatedly paused to leave something behind.More than once, Genesis tells us:“He built there an altar to the Lord.” (Genesis 12:7)An altar was a place of sacrifice—a place where gifts could be brought and offered.Abram’s tents traveled with him.But the altars remained. As we move through life, we’re invited to do more than simply continue our own journey. We’re invited to create places and spaces where others can contribute, participate, and offer their own gifts. The question is not only where we are going. The question is also:What are we leaving behind?I’m Horace McMillon. Send us Fan MailNo One Makes the Journey AloneMost of us can name the person who gets the credit. We rarely remember everyone who helped make it possible. When we think about Abram’s journey, we usually think about Abram. But Genesis 12:5 tells us that Abram and Sarai left Haran with “all the possessions that they had gathered, and the persons whom they had acquired in Haran.”The Hebrew phrase translated “the persons whom they had acquired” (וְאֶת־הַנֶּפֶשׁ אֲשֶׁר־עָשׂוּ בְחָרָן) is more literally translated as “the people they had made in Haran.”Not made in the sense of creating people, but in the sense of building relationships, nurturing growth, and creating a community.God called Abram. But Abram and Sarai had already spent years building the relationships that would make the journey possible.Abram and Sarai built the community. The community made the journey possible. No one makes the journey alone.I’m Horace McMillon. Send us Fan MailA Prayer For Staying Encouraged When Progress Is SlowLoving God,When progress feels slow, help us stay encouraged.Give us patience for the journey before us.Help us recognize the next step and when it is time to take it.When we are tempted to give up because we have not yet arrived, remind us that progress usually comes step by step, one stage at a time.Help us recognize the progress we are making even when we have not yet reached the destination.Amen.#60SecondsOfHope #DailyPrayer #SpiritualEncouragement #Encouragement #HopeForToday #Prayer #EveningPrayer #FaithAndLife #DailyHope #InspirationSupport the show
Send us Fan MailWhen We Want It All At OnceSometimes we want things to happen faster than they do.We want the answer now. We want the change now. We want the breakthrough now.But much of life unfolds in stages. Learning a skill. Paying off debt. Finishing school. Building a career. Building a life. Most of the things that matter to us don’t happen all at once.“And Abram journeyed on by stages toward the Negeb.” — Genesis 12:9Abram did not know exactly where he was going. Or how long it would take. He simply kept taking the next step and moving on to the next stage.Progress is seldom dramatic. It usually looks like taking the next step, and reaching the next level.I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Send us Fan MailA Prayer for When It Is Time to Move ForwardLoving God,When we know there is something more for us, but we are reluctant to let go because we are comfortable where we are, give us courage. When the familiar feels safer than the unknown, give us wisdom. When we cannot yet see where the path ahead will lead, help us trust that everything that needs to become clear to us will become clear in time.Help us recognize what to bring with us and what to leave behind.Help us move forward with gratitude for what has brought us this far, without clinging to what we are being called to leave behind.Amen.#60SecondsOfHope #DailyPrayer #SpiritualEncouragement #Encouragement #HopeForToday #Prayer #DailyHope #FaithAndLife #SpiritualGrowth #Inspiration #Hope #LifeTransitionsSupport the show
Send us Fan MailWhen We Outgrow Where We AreSometimes we reach a point where we can no longer remain exactly where we have been. Not because the place is bad.Not because the people are wrong. Not because we have stopped being grateful for what has brought us this far.Sometimes growth requires us to leave what is familiar behind. We are reminded of Abram, who heard these words from God:“Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.” — Genesis 12:1Abram was asked to leave home, family, and everything he knew.He did not know where he was going. He did not know how long the journey would take.He did not know what challenges he would encounter along the way.He only knew that he was being invited forward. There are moments in our lives like that.A job changes.Children grow up.A friendship shifts.A role no longer fits.A new possibility begins to emerge before we can fully understand it.Growth requires movement, and becoming often requires leaving something familiar behind.I’m Horace McMillon. Send us Fan MailA Prayer for When We Feel Guilty for RestingLoving God,when we feel guilty for resting when there’s so much to do and the work is so important, help us release the pressure to keep going.Remind us that our rest is important too. Remind us that our time resting is sacred.Renew us. Restore us. Refresh us. Send us Fan MailWhen We Feel Guilty for RestingSometimes we feel guilty for resting when there’s so much left to do.And we push ourselves beyond our healthy limits.Maybe it’s because we know that what we’re doing is important. But in the process, we can lose sight of what else is important too.“So God blessed the seventh day and hallowed it, because on it God rested from all the work that he had done in creation.” — Genesis 2:3The work mattered. And so did the rest. Our rest is not only important; it is holy.It is a time to renew, refresh, and rekindle the fires within us. A time to remember that we are more than what we produce. More than what we accomplish. More than the items waiting on tomorrow’s list.Rest reminds us that our lives are a gift. And gifts are meant to be received, not merely used.Today, may we give ourselves permission to pause. To breathe. To receive the gift of rest.I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope. Send us Fan Mail If We Are Created In The Image Of God“All of us have some measure of power, authority, responsibility. The question is not whether we have it.The question is how we use it.In Genesis we read:‘Then God said, “Let us make humans in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion…”’— from Genesis 1:26People often hear the word dominionand imagine control, the power to take, keep, and exploit. But the God whose image we bearcreates and cultivates life, brings order from chaos, and calls creation good.So if we are created in the image of God,what image are we reflectingin the way we care for one another and the world around us?In the way we:lead, serve, build? The calling of humanityis not simply to rule—but to reflect the life nurturing loveof the One whose image we bear.I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope.Peace be with you.#60SecondsOfHope #DailyReflection #SpiritualEncouragement #Encouragement #HopeForToday #FaithAndLife #DailyHope #DailyReflection #SpiritualGrowth #DailyInspiration #Hope #discipleshipSupport the show

Send us Fan MailWhen the World Around Us Feels Out of ControlThere are momentswhen life feels chaotic.Nothing is clear. We cannot seewhat comes next. And it feels likedarkness is everywhere we turn. The creation story in Genesisbegins in a place like that.“The earth was complete chaos, and darkness covered the face of the deep…” — from Genesis 1:2But the story does not end there.God is still presentin the darkness.Still movingin the chaos.Still bringing lightwhere there was only darkness before.Still creating order and structurewhere everything seems unmanaged and unmanageable. So when life feels uncertain, and we cannot see the way forward,we need not give in to despair. We can confidently move forward in hope, trusting that light will emerge, and that God is still calling fortha world where life can flourish.I’m Horace McMillon. Send us Fan MailWhen People Fear the End of the WorldSome people fearthe world is about to end.And some others hope for it.But the words of the prophet Joel, which are quoted in Acts, are less about destructionand more about a new beginning.“‘In the last days it will be,’ God declares,‘that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh…’”— from Acts 2:17These are not words of despair. They are words of hope.Words pointing toward a timewhen barriers begin to fall, when people once dividedbecome connected to Godand to each other.A time when fear, greed, violence, and exploitationno longer govern the way we live together. The last daysare not about the end of the world itself, but about the endof the world as it is.And our participationin the worldas it should be.I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope.Peace be with you.#60SecondsOfHope #DailyReflection #SpiritualEncouragement #Encouragement #HopeForToday #DailyHope #FaithAndLife #SpiritualGrowth #DailyDevotion #discipleshipSupport the show

Send us Fan MailWhen We Are Judged Before We SpeakSometimes people dismiss usbefore they really hear us.Not because we have nothing to say.But because of where we’re from, what we look like, how much money we have,or the assumptions they’ve already made about us.“But others sneered and said,‘They are filled with new wine.’”— from Acts 2:13These disciples were mocked and dismissednot because they were unclear, and not because their message lacked validity. They were dismissedbecause they came from a placemany people looked down on.But instead of becoming angry, bitter,or consumed with proving themselves, they continued using the giftsthe Spirit had given them. And they continued sharingthe hope they had received.God’s love is for everyone. And the Spirit’s poweris not reservedfor the wealthy, respected, educated,or well connected. It is given freely. So when we are dismissed, misjudged,or looked down upon, may we not lose ourselvesto bitterness or resentment.Instead, may the Spirit within and among uskeep us centered in hopeand moving in love.I’m Horace McMillon. This is 60 Seconds of Hope.Peace be with you.#60SecondsOfHope #DailyReflection #SpiritualEncouragement #Encouragement #HopeForToday #FaithAndLife #SpiritualGrowth #DailyDevotion #Discipleship #inspirationSupport the show
