Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. It was the last match of the season, and while the match mostly petered out, it was a day notable for the renaming of the Bridgford End to the John Robertson Stand, Morgan Gibbs-White proving a point to Tommy Tuchel, and what looked like an emotional goodbye from Elliot Anderson. The match itself was settled by Morgan scoring in the first half, before Marcus Tavernier equalised after Jair Cunha's mistake, and several good saves from Matz Sels kept the Reds in the game. Then there were celebrations by the away fans and players, and a lap of appreciation from the Reds, with Neco Williams unveiled as Player of the Season. George and Katie report for the final time this season, with a view from the opposition by Jon Spark of Cherries Red Army. We will have more for you in the next week or so as we round up the season just gone. Thanks for joining us through a busy and tumultuous campaign. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. Vítor's Reds went to Old Trafford, and while the home team had more chances, Forest were ultimately robbed by a pivotal decision by Michael Salisbury, who was the only man in football who thought that Matheus Cunha's goal should stand, after Bryan Mbeumo's obvious handball. Even VAR recommended that the goal should be chalked off after a 3-4 min review, but after staring at it for another 90 seconds, the ref stuck to his guns. Fortunately Forest are already safe this season. George and Tom report after returning from Manchester, still in disbelief at the decision, but full of praise for the Head Coach, players and Forest supporters, as goals from Morato and Gibbs-White were not enough to get a result against United's 12th man. It's another trip to YATESY'S ESPRESSO BAR, as Rich and Matt digest the shock news that Carly Davies has left her post as Forest Women's Head Coach. Matt summarises the season and the reasons why Carly may have been sacked with a year left on her contract. We also celebrate the Reds' safety, which was secured following the draw against Newcastle and West Ham's loss to Arsenal. Finally, we consider whether Morgan Gibbs-White's nasty facial injury might end his chances of going to the World Cup. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. It felt like a match that neither team particularly wanted to play, as a patched-up Reds side took to the field against a beleaguered Newcastle team. Having said that, there were moments of interest, with Nick Pope denying Igor Jesus and Will Osula hitting the bar before Bruno Guimarães fired wide, then forced Matz Sels into an uncomfortable save before Morato completed the job. In the end, the two goalscorers felt inevitable. Harvey Barnes always scores against us, and after a simple through ball he outpaced Morato before a good finish on 74 mins. However Vítor's Reds regrouped and Elliot Anderson scored against his hometown club after a smart one-two with McAtee and sheer force of will. Baz and Katie report. All good things come to an end, and Forest's depleted squad were no match for an excellent Aston Villa team who really worked hard to overcome the first leg result. Apart from a 10-15 min spell in the first half, the Reds were second best, and we wish Villa well in the final. George and Tom report the morning after, discussing the lack of fit players, whether Vítor could have done better with his team selection and subs, and some reflections on the European away days. Neil also joins us from For The Love Of Paul McGrath with his magnanimous reflections on the semi-final. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. Another superb afternoon, as Vítor Pereira's much-changed Reds team dismantled Chelsea, with Taiwo Awoniyi opening the scoring after two minutes, and adding another in the second half. Igor Jesus scored a first-half penalty after Malo Gusto pulled Taiwo's shirt, and although Chelsea had a penalty of their own, Matz Sels made a great double-save to deny Cole Palmer from the spot, and his rebound. George and Katie talk about the match but also share the feelings of the travelling Reds fans, as Forest continue their high-scoring unbeaten run, leading into the second leg against Villa. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. It was a special evening at the City Ground as the Reds fans revelled in their first European semi-final for 42 years (and we were cheated out of that one). Rich and Baz report before and after a match which was decided by Chris Wood's excellent penalty after VAR confirmed Lucas Digne's daft handball. Both teams really went at it, and although Unai Emery was fuming (faux-outrage) about Elliot Anderson's tackle on Ollie Watkins, the real highlights were a stupendous save by Emi Martínez (history repeating) and some amazing, FIFA-cheat-mode interplay between Forest's two England international midfielders. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. In the archetypal game of two halves, Forest were flat and insipid in the first period, and paid the price when Zian Flemming gave the Clarets the lead in stoppage time. However Vítor Pereira rallied the troops and made a couple of tactical changes which gave Morgan Gibbs-White the time and space to get a hat-trick, becoming only the third Red to do so in the Premier League era. Igor Jesus rounded off the rout with a goal on the break. Rich and Baz report on tactics, substitutions and finding new ways to break down your opponents. Thanks for joining us. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. Oh, what a night! Forest toiled away against the ten men of Porto. Having taken the lead through Morgan Gibbs-White, they controlled the first half, but the visitors came out fighting in the second period, hitting the bar twice and giving the home fans a scare. Rich Ferraro and Tom Newton report on a game where the players had to dig in, amidst the sad news that emerged just before kick off that Elliott Anderson had lost his mum. Elliott and his family were clearly in the hearts and minds of the Reds players and supporters, and we send our sympathies. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. Overall you would have to say that was a good point against an Aston Villa team who create a lot of problems, and will feel that they should have scored more than one goal, with Watkins and Rogers converting in the rugby sense, rather than netting. Forest were thankful to Neco Williams who had been told to shoot more, and could have had more than one, and also for the return to Premier League action for Chris Wood, who made an immediate impression, not just in chance creation but also improving the shape and effectiveness of the team. The Maradona of the Midlands is joined by Baz to report on the game, with a view from the opposition by Neil from YouTube channel For The Love of Paul McGrath. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. On a warm evening on the banks of the Douro, Forest got off to a torrid start, and could have conceded three before Porto took a 10th minute lead. Fortunately the hosts were in a generous mood and gifted an equaliser to the Reds with a comical 40 yard own goal. After the first 20 mins or so, Forest settled down, and achieved more stability especially in defence. While the visitors rarely threatened, there was an intriguing moment in the second half when Igor Jesus had a goal disallowed by VAR after colliding with Porto custodian Diogo Costa. George, Tom and friends report LIVE from the Estadio de Dragao, as they wait to be released from the away end. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. Football eh? Bloody hell. Forest came out of the blocks on a night where the second string finally came of age, and the first half had a familiar feel to it until Nico Domínguez looped a header into the top corner to bring Forest level on aggregate. Ryan Yates scored a belter early in the second half, before the hosts equalised. The skipper almost capped off an outstanding performance by scoring the winner in the very last minute of extra time, but was denied by the offside flag. Penalties it was, and in an extraordinary turn of events, the Danes MISSED all three of their spot kicks, while MGW, Sangaré and Williams slotted home, to book a place against Porto in the next phase. Although they once again failed to score, Vitor Pereira said that he was satisfied with the spirit and effort against Fulham. Thanks for everything Julie, you ran so we could walk. Part 2 will be in your feeds adjacent to this one, as we talk to a West Ham fan about the relegation battle, enjoy a quickfire round, and look forward to another Europa League encounter. It was quite a night at the Etihad, as despite conceding two relatively soft goals, the Reds scored two excellent ones of their own to defy Man City. For many watchers though, the defining moment will be Murillo's dramatic goal-line clearance with the last kick of the match. Rich is joined by Katie, fresh back from Eastlands, to discuss the big moments in a big night, that was tempered by West Ham winning and drawing level on points - Forest are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference. Another league defeat as Forest conceded an early goal, equalised with a belter from Morgan Gibbs-White, but undid the good work by letting in another one within a minute. Vitor Pereira conceded that fatigue was a factor, but it is not an excuse for the Portuguese gaffer, who experimented with some different formations and personnel to try and get back in the game - unlike Matz Sels, Brighton keeper Bart Verbruggen didn't have any notable saves to make, but Awoniyi and Gibbs-White will feel that they should have done better with their headers. The Maradona of the Midlands is joined by George Edwards, just back from the south coast, with a view from the opposition coming from Rick Loosemore. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. The Reds lost on the night, but went through to the last 16 of the Europa League on aggregate, after last week's impressive 3-0 win in Turkey. Once again, a much-altered starting XI left Forest fans short-changed, as the tempo was slower, and the home team were caught on the break to give Fenerbahçe the advantage on the night. Four (FOUR) half-time subs had barely warmed up before Jair Cunha conceded a slightly unfortunate penalty, but from then on Forest were much better, and Callum Hudson-Odoi's effort put them firmly in control - Omari Hutchinson and Igor Jesus will feel that they should have made it more comfortable. Listen on Apple Podcasts - watch or listen on Spotify - watch on YouTube. Despite a scintillating first-half display, Forest could not put the ball in the net, and were made to pay in the 97th minute when the second of two late VAR decisions went against them. In truth, it's difficult to know where to start with the late calls. No-one (if any) in the ground expected the first one to be chalked off, but by the letter of the law it was correct. No-one from Forest was disputing the second one, although stills show that Hugo Ekitike was in an offside position, but deemed not to be interfering 🤷♂️ Rich and Baz try and untangle all of that, as well as discussing tactics, subs and confidence. The view from the opposition comes from Neil of The Anfield Wrap. What a win in Vitor Pereira's first match - this was as close to flawless as you could imagine as Forest controlled the match from start to finish, and kept that valuable clean sheet. They even overcame two of their weaknesses, by scoring from a corner, and getting goals (rather than conceding them) either side of half-time. Rich is joined on the line by a rather giddy George Edwards, just back in his hotel room in Istanbul after a long day, to review the goals, the atmosphere, the experience, and what this means for the rest of the Reds' season. This week, we are joined by Nottingham Forest supporter and global football observer Ray Mundo Futbol, to hear the views of someone who would rather not have sacked Dyche. We also hear Ray's views on this week's visit to Istanbul, and agree that we wouldn't trade the Big Guy for any other owner. We also have a game of 'Penny For Your Thoughts', in which Tom, Matt and the Maradona of the Midlands put themselves in the shoes of Sean Dyche, Edu, and Evangelos Marinakis (but in a nice way). Recorded just hours after the news was confirmed, Rich, Baz and George sit down to discuss the appointment of Vitor Pereira as the new Head Coach of Nottingham Forest: Where did it all go wrong for Dyche? How accountable should Marinakis and Edu be? What can we expect from the new gaffer? Will Forest stay up? The match against Wolves was awful - don't let the stats fool you, as the visitors were actually more likely to score at the end of each half. The game was overshadowed by the news, announced just after midnight, that Sean Dyche had been relieved of his duties as Head Coach, with Forest looking for a fourth incumbent in the managerial hotseat since September. Rich, Baz and Tom talk about the game and the consquences. It was a bad night for the Reds but a very good one for Leeds United, as they took full advantage of a raucous home crowd and some tactical tweaks, as well as some good old-fashioned hard work. Lorenzo Lucca's goal on début was scant consolation, as Forest are now looking nervously over their shoulders again. Rich is joined by Katie, after a cold wet night in the away section, and we are thankful to Ger from The Leeds United View for sharing an opinion from the home section. Forest would have been hoping to get the win to draw level on points with our beleaguered visitors, and things started well when Morgan Gibbs-White tucked home after five minutes. As is so often the case, we should have got another one, and literally paid the penalty when Neco Williams handled on the line and was dismissed, with Ismaíla Sarr scoring the resulting spot kick. However, in the second half, the ten man team showed no let up with a magnificent battling performance to repel Palace, and still managed to break with numbers, but both teams had to settle for a point in the end. Rich and Baz report on the game, the tactics, the substitutions, and yes, the referee. After the worst game possible last week, Forest went some way to making up to the fans with a goal-fest and clean sheet against Hungarian opposition. Last week's chief antagonist (and there were many) became Forest's chief protagonist as the skipper made two first half goals, contributed to the penalty award at the death, and turned into prime Zidane for about 20 minutes. The headlines went to Igor Jesus for his two goals, and James McAtee and Dan Ndoye had their best games in a red shirt, with the former richly deserving the goal that he scored when Morgan Gibbs-White gave him the opportunity from 12 yards. Rich and Baz report. Oh, what a night. Welcome to YATESY'S ESPRESSO BAR, your weekly roundup of all things Forest from your friends at 1865. In the last week, our usually inspirational skipper caused a fair bit of consternation with his interview after the Braga match - was this delusional or the result of media training? We hear from Matt Turpin with the latest on the Forest Women's team, in the week where Charlie Wellings scored a rather odd goal, and the Reds welcomed two new signings; and we discuss Nick Randall's latest Q&A and Jean-Philippe Mateta with guest pundit Steve Burns.
