It’s a Christmas miracle! It’s been a long time coming, but for the final episode of the year, The Sin Syndicate have been blessed with the immaculate presence of The Boss, Something Weird Video owner and operator, Lisa Petrucci . Ever since we started this podcast we knew we wanted to bring Lil’ Lisa on the show, but we were waiting for the right moment. Well, what better time than now, our last episode of 2025, where we talk with the multi-talented Ms. Petrucci about a subject near and dear to her heart—the Mighty Monarch of Exploitation, David F. Friedman , and the recently announced series of double and triple features from Melusine and Distribpix dedicated to his colorful career. Besides Uncle Dave, we also chat about the early days of Something Weird, the current state of film censorship, and some of our favorite Friedman films. If you listen closely, you might even catch Lisa drop a couple hints about some upcoming releases from SWV in the new year. So, join us for “ On Mighty Monarchs and Lady Bosses ,” the first, but hopefully not the last, of our discussions with the small but powerful woman behind an exploitation empire. Strap in for Episode 27, “ Not That Tony Orlando ,” a two and half hour ride that boards at Philadelphia's 30th Street Station, makes a detour to Brigantine, New Jersey, and comes to a stop at New York’s Grand Central Station. There will be: more Dawn Bennett slander, a discussion about what makes a “bear,” and a reveal of the inspiration behind Casey’s move to The Big Apple. Curl up with a bag of Takis for some 60s sexploitation comfort viewing as The Sin Syndicate, with special guest Alex DiSanto, discuss the short filmmaking career of Philly boy Tony Orlando (in association with cinematographer C. “Chuck” Davis Smith), and the four pictures he made before his unfortunate death on the operating table: The Block (1964), Lust and the Flesh (1965), Hot Nights on the Campus (1966) and Banned (1966). Besides covering everything you need to know about this quartet of features, there will be diversions to talk about the most uncomfortable exploitation film ever made ( The Molesters , and yes, Alex has the promotional whistle), a disgusting promotional tactic around The Twisted Sex (involving a dead girl in white go-go boots) and two other men on the periphery of this scene: Sande N. Johnsen and Jerry Denby. Also not to be missed is our world famous Sexploitation News segment, were we give our initial thoughts on the recently announced high-definition David F. Friedman series from Distribpix + Something Weird Video, reveal the final tally results from our Mount Rushmore of NYC Sexploitation Actresses Patreon poll, and make other historical updates and corrections. What would you do for a Van Houten chocolate bar? Crawl on your hands and knees and join us for Episode 26 of the Sin Syndicate, where we are submitting to the erotic symphony of director Allen Savage’s psychosexual 1969 sex film, Submission . Starring future hardcore star Jennifer Welles under her “Lisa Duran” pseudonym, she plays “little miss innocence,” a baby doll beauty used and abused by her cruel master, played by actor (maybe producer?) Gary Judin. When the two insinuate themselves into the home of a wealthy older woman, Orgasmo games ensue. Other familiar sexploitation faces featured in this artistically edited X film include Southern gal Sheila Britt, João Fernandes from Doris Wishman's The Amazing Transplant , and a behind the scenes crew that includes one of Joe Sarno's favorite 60s editors, and the cinematographer of Freddy vs. Jason . Clearly, there’s a lot to discuss with this one, so light a candle, grab your favorite candy confection, and quell your insatiable hunger with “ Sex and Chocolate .” Links: Read the show notes on our Patreon Watch Submission on Cultpix Instagram with us at The Sin Syndicate Follow us on Letterboxd: Gentry & Casey Listen to other podcasts on Someone's Favorite Productions Check out Something Weird Video Contact us: thesinsyndicatepodcast@gmail.com

The theme is respect yourself . For Episode 25, " Earn Your Money, Koichi ," The Sin Syndicate are peering through the two-way mirror at producer/distributor Bob Cresse's Japanese sexploitation pick-up, The Bite (1966 ) . Directed by pink film pioneer Kan Mukai, this early B&W eroduction was purchased for $4,000, re-dubbed, and re-distributed to adults only theaters by Cresse's Olympic International Films. Listen closely and you'll hear sexploitation regular John Alderman as the voice of our protagonist, Koichi, a Sun Tribey young gigolo forced to degrade himself for the pleasure of voyeuristic couples on the other side of the glass. But when Koichi falls for a waitress used in his madam's live peep shows, the walls start closing in as fists are thrown, jail time is served, and a sick mother desperately needs money for an operation. Joining us to talk about the separate but not dissimilar worlds of Japanese and American sexploitation are Christopher and Dakota of the Two in the Pinku podcast, bringing their expertise to an informal discussion about the early years of independently produced pink film, what lens we should view these movies today, and the circumstances that led Cresse to unleashing several of these productions to American grindhouses. Remove the wall covering, hold your lover tight, and join us for a leering look into a world of male prostitution, shotgun revenge, fondling on sailboats, and wearing sunglasses in the night club. Lick the end of that paint brush. Tie that electrical cord a little tighter. Rub that ice cube counterclockwise over your left breast. We're entering the " Vortex of Voluptousness " for Episode 24 of The Sin Syndicate podcast—peering into New York City apartments filled with sex games, body painting, banana nibbling and general absurd degradation—with a look at two films from director Joel Landwehr (pseudonym "Leo J. Rhewdnal"), In Hot Blood (1968) and Fluctuations (1970). The former is the story of an ordinary girl with an extraordinary body seduced by a big city modeling job, slowly descending into bondage, methadrone and lesbianism. The latter is an avante-garde depiction of a smut novel leaping off the page with a karate kick and a golden shower. Join The Sin Syndicate and special guest Alex DiSanto on this grimy trip to the poetic gutters of NYC as we scratch the true crime surface of Landwehr’s sad end, and look at the unique circumstances that bred such strange, erotic filth. It’s all fun and games at the black magic bacchanal until someone holds a heated plate to your chest with a hungry rat inside. The Sin Syndicate conclude their horrotic Halloween series with Episode 23, “ New Thrill at Old Castle ,” at look at Zoltan G. Spencer’s languid softcore gothic from 1972, Terror at Orgy Castle . This narration-only bone, uh, chiller, features a bevy of underdiscussed beauties, led by Bambi Allen as the Countess Dominova, and with supporting roles for Jane Tsentas and Linda Marie as soul-sucking succubi. The less said about the men the better, but as is often the case, the story behind the film is arguably more interesting than the film itself, particularly when it comes to George Spencer Crilly, the man behind the name “Zoltan.” Join us on this Eastern European jaunt as Casey and Gentry leave no castle stone unturned, and no Saint Andrew’s cross unused for shackling. Just keep telling yourself, "This is only a hypnotic astral projection, Cindy.” The Sin Syndicate's horrotic October continues with Episode 22, "Let's Fantasy F**k Now!" Join us for an in-depth look at Psyched by the 4D Witch, a uniquely terrifying tale of demonology from director Victor Luminera . Largely a one-man passion project from the psydonomous man, this strange and often comical light and music show was actually a serious attempt by Luminera to break into the mainstream and further advance his experimental ideas about illumination therapy, feminine power and ethereal phenomena. It's fair to say he made some commercial compromises in producing a sexpolitation film where a woman pulls a snake out of her ass. But in the words of Luminera, "this is a trip without drugs." Someone’s playing this game for keeps. Instagram’s least favorite podcast, The Sin Syndicate, is back for the onset of scary season with Episode 21, “ Uncle’s Night of Tricks .” In honor of October, we’re looking at director Ron Garcia’s Pandora's box of horrotic, Freudian depravity, "The Toy Box" (1971), a midnight party with orgies, casket play, magic boxes, and Debbie Osborne as a sleepy-drunk giant. In this episode we discuss Garcia’s strange career path from sexploitation director to David Lynch collaborator as well as dissect Super Bitch star, Ann Perry, a powerful woman both in front of, and behind the erotic scenes. O say can you see what she’s doing to me? Glory, glory, hallelujah! Join The Sin Syndicate in saluting the flag of Peggy Church and the quiet genius of director Mark Haggard in Episode 20, “Don’t Forget Your Girl. ” In this episode we’ve brought along Patrick Crain to help us discuss “ The All-American Girl, ” a 1973 softcore sexploitation film produced by hardcore pioneer Bob Chinn while he was laying low in Los Angeles. Listen as Gentry gets schooled in “snowballing,” Joe Rubin gets repeatedly called out for refusing requests for restoration, and many other diversions to talk about Erotic Master Joe Sarno, The Immortal Bob Chinn, and the diminishing returns of Carlos Tobalina. It’s a nice day to be alive and swimming in “ The Rivers of Cruel Intent ” as The Sin Syndicate return for Episode 19, a deep exploration of the cavernous depths of Russ Meyer’s underrated camp classic, “ Common Law Cabi n .” This week we’re celebrating the day of birth of our very own Casey Scot t, and what better way than to look at the Meyer film that he won’t shut up about. Keeping it in the family, we are once again joined by degenerate film archivist and unofficial third member, Alex DiSanto (sans riding crop), who hitches a ride in the roundbottom boat as we gush over Jimmy McDonough ’s Russ Meyer biography, ponder the state of the RM catalogue, and debate the sexism of the artist vs. the power of the woman. Gather ye rosebuds and put on your ballet slippers, The Sin Syndicate is taking a stroll through Central Park and Greenwich Village for director Stanley H. Brasloff’s directorial debut, 1968’s Two Girls for a Madman , a melancholic roughie focused on two ambitious dancers (Arlene Farber, Jean Weston), one giggling sex maniac (Lucky Kargo), and a Beatnik cafe that offers masked orgies with admission. Before he went for broke with his candy-colored daddy/daughter melodrama, Toys are Not for Children , Brasloff—a showbiz kid from an early age—cooked up this exemplary sexploitation film with a little help from his friends and connections in the East Coast entertainment business, including former Broadway performers and Jewish comedians like himself. Join us as we discuss Brasloff’s short but memorable career in moviemaking, a career filled with wonderful failures, interesting stories, and a whole lot of passion. In this episode we debate the thespian talents of stunning starlet Arlene Farber, talk early electronic music scores (theremin!), and ask the deep questions, like “Is Lucky Kargo HOT or NOT?” Make sure to stay ‘til the very end, where Casey even has a correction for Mr. Stephen Thrower himself. Doris Wishman. Roberta Findlay. Two of the undisputed female titans of sexploitation. But there’s another name that is often forgotten, and underrecognized, as a sexual pioneer in an industry that wasn’t always welcoming to women—especially those with strong opinions. We’re talking about Louise ‘Bunny’ Downe . In planning for our episode about “ The Girl, The Body, and The Pill, ” we learned that Louise, the film's writer as well as assistant director (and former nudie-cutie actress), had just recently passed away. The moment felt right to give her a proper sendoff. So, for Episode 15 of the The Sin Syndicate podcast, we spoke with professor and screenwriter Janna Jones about her Bunny-based screenplay (“ Cheap, Sexy and Shocking! ”), Louise’s importance as a woman in the field of exploitation moviemaking, as well as her contentious relationship with one of the genre’s biggest names, Herschell Gordon Lewis. Prepare a 500 page paper on the relationship between men and women, and join us as we discuss the “muddy morality” of the birth control pill, Louise’s creative drive to create something meaningful, and the still controversial topic of in-school sex education. But more than anything, we hope you’ll accompany us in celebrating the life of one of sexploitation’s most underappreciated do-it-all artists, the still mysterious (just as she wanted it), Allison Alma Louise Bunny Downe—the “ Godmother of Gore .” Links: Subscribe to our Patreon Read Janna Jones’ essay, Neither the Nudie-Cuties nor the Gore Watch " The Girl, The Body, and The Pill " on the Something Weird Channel Instagram with us at The Sin Syndicate Follow us on Letterboxd: Gentry & Casey Listen to other podcasts on Someone's Favorite Productions Contact us: thesinsyndicatepodcast@gmail.com Timestamps: (00:00:31) Intro (00:02:31) Rest in Peace Louise (00:07:48) Louise in Miami (00:15:40) Rewriting Louise’s Ending (00:22:49) Abortion and The Pill Onscreen (00:31:22) Louise’s Influence (00:47:18) Breaking New Ground (00:51:17) Picture Palaces (00:57:37) Louise’s Silence (01:02:00) The Cast (01:19:10) The Lesson for Today

Unless you’re neck deep in the world of sexploitation, you’re probably unfamiliar with the name “ Bethel Buckalew .” And even if you are familiar, you may have been led to believe that strange moniker was just another pseudonym used by secretive director Pete Perry in a series of hay-roller hixploitation pictures for Harry Novak’s Box Office International. Let's start with some facts. #1: Drinking moonshine and walking should be illegal. #2: We gotta do something 'bout that boy. And #3: Bethel Buckalew was a real person, and in Episode 14 of the The Sin Syndicate podcast, “ Moo Just a Little ,” Casey and Gentry look at the man’s carefree, bovine-focused final film in his Sexy Southern series, “ Sassy Sue .” Featuring a stacked cast of future hardcore starlets (Colleen Brennan, Tallie Cochrane, Sandy Carey), as well as the always amusing Buckalew muse, John Tull, “ Sassy Sue” is a fittingly stupid, but entertaining end to a successful series of Southern sex comedies featuring fantastic fiddle-heavy Country music from the duo of Southern & Hensley, and plenty of skin-on-skin-on-dirt action. So join us as we search for the backwoods liquor still, discuss barnyard loving, and debate the merits of mixing poontang and corn, in surely one of our most braindead episodes yet.
