About this episode
Send us a text It was an honour to sit down and discuss swimming with 6x Paralympic Swimming Gold Medallist - Ellie Cole OAM, for today's podcast. At nearly 30 yrs of age, Ellie is about to head to Tokyo for her fourth Paralympic Games, and it was so refreshing to hear about why she still loves swimming so much; how her training has needed to change and adapt since her two shoulder reconstructions and the delight she felt in having the multi-class and able bodied swimmers in the same program at the recent Olympic Trials. Ellie is a humble and self-effacing women, who although she would not admit it, has played a major role in changing societies views of athletes with a disability. We chatted about her role in the Netflix film "Rising Phoenix" and how that also showcased Paralympic athletes journeys and their terrific "can do" attitude! She is a role model to scores of junior athletes and hopes to have one or two swimming schools under her belt in the future, but what really shone through in this interview, was Ellie's zest for life.
