In between new episodes I am working on remastering old episodes and getting them on YouTube. Recently I had also considered combining some episodes that were split into one longer episode, and one of you suggested it, too! When I am recording the episodes, it's a lot for my fatigue and shortness of breath, so sometimes I have to create them in multiple parts. Going back and combining them after the fact is much easier. I had so much fun recording this episode! It's a new story for me which is always enjoyable. The story takes place right after the fall of Jericho (the episode titled "Rahab and the Scarlet Rope"). Joshua and the Israelites are up against Ai. (If I'm pronouncing Ai wrong, I sincerely apologize! It was the one I found when I searched that seemed the most accurate.) Someone is disobedient. Thank you for your patience, friends! October was a lot. I was in a flare, then my husband got sick (which added to my flare), among other things. But God is good and a new episode is here! I'm praying the next one doesn't take as long. We had a special request for another relaxing, peaceful episode, similar to the last one. I searched around, but landed again in Psalms. Friends... my heart is heavy. There have been so many senseless tragedies in the last few weeks. We know as believers that the world will get worse as we get closer to the end of time. We mourn, but we don't mourn as the rest of the world does. We keep the faith. The good news is this life is not the end. We all have the gift of eternal life, and all we have to do is accept it. Praise God for our Savior, JESUS. We reached a milestone of 50,000 followers since the last episode! God is working and people are being reached. Thank you so much for all of your prayers, comments, shares, and donations. They are such a blessing and motivation. I hope these chapters from Psalms will bring you some peace. We have had a couple of requests for The Beatitudes which are at the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount. This is one of Jesus' most famous sermons and I'm thrilled to share this episode. There is a lot to unpack. It includes the Lord's Prayer (I get emotional reading that!) and teachings on loving our enemies and not worrying about tomorrow. I think it's important to mention that some of the teachings are metaphorical. Jesus does not want you to gauge out your eye. He is emphasizing the importance of eternal salvation over anything else--over any earthly sins or desires we may have. Again, I'm so blessed and excited to share this episode. We had a recent request for the book of Habakkuk, and interestingly enough, my devotional was recently about Habakkuk, and a pastor mentioned the prophet as well. I took it as a sign. A lot of us struggle with anxiety and trust, and the book of Habakkuk encourages us to rejoice in the Lord, trusting Him even when everything else fails or seems like it's going wrong. I wanted to mention that I try to prepare a new episode every two weeks, but because of my health struggles with chronic illness, I won't always make that personal goal. I don't like to overshare about my journey or make it about me, but my life is very different now than it was 3 years ago. I live in survival mode. There were times when I was recording that I had to stop because of shortness of breath and presyncope, and I would cry and ask God to let me finish the episode. God is so good and has given me progress and is helping me get answers! I've also had setbacks along the way. This podcast has given me a ministry and a purpose, and for that I am extremely thankful. I believe that He will heal me in His perfect timing. I share this because I want you all to know that I am doing my best and recording as much as I can. Proverbs has been a highly requested book. It is a collection of wise sayings and teachings meant to help people live with wisdom, kindness, and respect for God. Most of the proverbs were written by King Solomon, known for his great wisdom. I won't be reading through all of the book in a row, but this episode is covering the first 4 chapters. Solomon speaks like a father giving advice to his son. He encourages his son to listen, learn, and treasure wisdom. He warns about the dangers of following bad influences and explains how wisdom brings safety, peace, and a better life. Happy Mother's Day to all the amazing moms out there, including "fur" moms and those longing to be moms. It is bittersweet tonight as we wrap up the amazing story of Job. God finally speaks and addresses Job and his friends. The ending will give you so much hope! Praise God that He makes all things new and works everything out for our good. At the beginning of the episode, I share a little bit about my Job season and one of my "whys." I became suddenly chronically ill at the very end of August 2022. It's been quite the journey and the scariest years of my life. I won't go into too much detail but I've been to the ER several times (for the first time in my life) and at times thought I was dying. Insomnia was one of numerous symptoms and I knew that the lack of sleep was preventing my healing. I started searching for Bible stories that I could fall asleep to, but I could never find exactly what I was looking for. I felt this tug on my heart (God) and this push, telling me that I should start my own. A few months later, Bedtime Bible Stories for Adults was born. There have been challenging moments since shortness of breath is one of my symptoms, but praise God that is improving! I look back now and see how far I've come. I'm working with a functional doctor and working on reframing my thoughts and my brain. Your messages bring me so much encouragement (and tears!). Part 4 begins with Job speaking again, followed by a response from his friend, Bildad. After that, Job shares his final words with his friends and his final defense. I imagine he is exhausted from trying to justify himself to his friends and calling out to God. My favorite chapter of this episode is chapter 26. Job describes God's powerful works as Creator of the universe. Then he says, "And these are but the outer fringe of his works; how faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand the thunder of his power?" (Emphasis added.) What profound, impactful words. It gives me chills. We are reading Job chapters 23 through 31. We should have two parts left! The book of Job is very near and dear to my heart. The past two years of my life have been the hardest and scariest years I've ever experienced. Many times I told God I couldn't handle it anymore. I can relate to much of what Job says. For that reason, I'm so thankful that the book of Job was included in the Bible. When hard times come upon us, it's such a source of encouragement. We finish up Galatians with chapter 4 through 6! Paul continues encouraging the people of Galatia to rely on faith in Jesus for their salvation instead of the law of Moses. He reminds them that they are children of Abraham and heirs to God's kingdom. He also lists out the desires of sinful nature, contrasted by the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Tonight we continue on in the books of Acts. The apostles are spreading the good news and healing the sick, but they are met with opposition. They decide to appoint seven men to assist with some other duties. Stephen is one of those men. We do not get the typical happy ending with this story. I can't imagine going through what he did. **Formerly known as The Twelve** I'm not sure why but I felt really encouraged to read the beginning of Acts about the disciples being sent out into the world to heal and preach about Jesus. Maybe it's because I've gotten so into The Chosen, which helped bring all of them to life. It's interesting that they didn't just stick with eleven apostles. Numbers mean something to God and twelve is seen quite a bit throughout the Bible. I speak some Spanish and years ago, when my husband and I were traveling in Colombia, we took an Uber to the airport. Our Uber driver turned out to be a Christian who was no longer attending church, but he expressed that he felt bad about having drifted away from God. We had just heard an amazing sermon on following God and being obedient, even if you don't necessarily have the WILL to do it. We may not always have the will, but what we do have is a CHOICE. We can choose to do the right thing, and then the will will follow. I explained this concept to him and the Spanish was fluently flowing out of me. I know it was God giving me that ability. It was such an unreal feeling. The driver got very emotional while we were speaking, and we prayed with him once we arrived to the airport. I praise God for that divine appointment and the gift He gave me in the moment to help that man. We are reading Acts 1 through 4, stopping at verse 31. The book of Daniel is full of prophecy and begins with the story of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednago. Is that how you learned their names, too? It's funny that we call Daniel by his original name, and we learn the Babylonian names for his friends. When I read this story, it made me really think about my faith. There will be times we will be questioned or even threatened. Will I be strong enough to stand up for God? I pray that God will give me that strength. It amazes me the faith that those three men had.
