After disbanding in 1996, Long Beach ska veterans Sublime reunited at this year’s Coachella — with Nowell filling in for his late father, Bradley. Between honoring his father’s legacy and creating his own futuristic songs as Jakobs Castle, Nowell has proved that he’s a talented musician who’s determined to keep rock ’n’ roll a family affair. He’s played a handful of shows in support of this year’s debut album, Enter: The Castle, has plans to revive old Sublime compositions, and gets into a nearly hour-long chat with Madden about his whirlwind year.
