Sheriff John Staley has over 20 years of law enforcement experience in Central Arkansas. His father and brother also work in law enforcement, so he has strong family ties to the criminal justice system. He is passionate about the Peers Achieving Collaborative Treatment (PACT) program in Lonoke County, which seeks to aid inmates battling addiction. Sheriff Staley also gives his take on two major career events. In 2019, Sheriff Staley struck an inmate at Lonoke County Jail during a search, and footage of the incident was later released. Then in 2021, Sheriff Staley fired a sergeant who didn’t follow body-cam protocol when he approached a teen … who he later ended up shooting to death.
