Suga-T is one of the first female rappers to emerge from the West Coast and a Bay Area pioneer. Along with her brothers E-40 and D-Shot and their cousin B-Legit, she cofounded The Click and helped put Vallejo on the map. As a teen mother, Suga navigated obstacles in the streets and found her voice as a musician. She went on to make gold and platinum hits, but eventually took a hiatus from rap and went back to earn multiple college degrees. After experiencing domestic violence, Suga became a counselor to other women and coaches them on entrepreneurship, health, and wellness. In addition to writing books, selling beauty products, and working in community organizations, she continues to be active in putting out new music.--For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail: info@historyofthebay.com--History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aaOnline Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlAInstagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_oneTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_oneTwitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_oneFacebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone41500:00 Growing up in Vallejo & family10:01 Musical family14:49 Teen parent24:30 Women in hip-hop46:18 The Click 55:38 Captain Save A Hoe 1:00:08 2pac; San Quinn1:03:52 Sprinkle Me1:08:12 “Game Related” 1:13:45 Hiatus from rap 1:23:01 Domestic violence1:31:32 Entrepeneurship

Domino is a member of the legendary Hieroglyphics crew but usually plays a behind-the-scenes role as a producer and manager. He's the only member of the Oakland-based collective to come from San Francisco, where he gravitated away from the typical Bay Area rap scene towards more East Coast influences. This led him to Groove Merchant Records and meeting New York A&R Dante Ross, who introduced him to Del The Funky Homosapien. Since then, Domino played a major role in Souls of Mischief and Casual getting major label deals, then launching their own Hieroglyphics Imperium label. For over 30 years, he's been making a living from music and helping artists navigate the ever-changing landscape of the industry.--For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail: info@historyofthebay.com--History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aaOnline Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlAInstagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_oneTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_oneTwitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_oneFacebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone41500:00 Introduction02:08 Valencia Gardens08:25 Early demos18:50 Groove Merchant25:57 Dante Ross & Del31:23 Managing Casual37:17 What makes a good manager?48:04 Joining Hiero50:09 Jive & Elektra1:03:06 Going independent 1:14:12 Industry changes1:21:26 Near-death experience 1:30:34 Longevity1:36:52 New music

Dug witnessed the birth of graffiti in the Bay and was a founding member of TMF crew. His crew made history by painting epic productions at legendary yards and also battling Crayone's TWS crew over a clash of styles. As San Francisco became a graffiti destination for writers around the world, Dug advanced his skills and studied in art school. Eventually he made a career doing design work and moved to New York City to cofound Morning Breath, Inc. Morning Breath has produced Grammy-winning design work for bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Nirvana while still staying true to Dug's love of graffiti and characters.--For promo opportunities on the podcast, e-mail: historyofthebaypodcast@gmail.com---History of the Bay Spotify Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3ZUM4rCv6xfNbvB4r8TVWU?si=9218659b5f4b43aaOnline Store: https://dregsone.myshopify.com Follow Dregs One:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1UNuCcJlRb8ImMc5haZHXF?si=poJT0BYUS-qCfpEzAX7mlAInstagram: https://instagram.com/dregs_oneTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@dregs_oneTwitter: https://twitter.com/dregs_oneFacebook: https://facebook.com/dregsone41500:00 History of the Bay Day03:05 Growing up Daly City 07:53 Cholo styles10:55 Hip-hop15:59 Early graffiti 21:23 Funk style29:06 RW to TMF34:54 Painting productions40:57 Psycho City45:13 Golden Age of SF Graff 53:28 Wreck Shop1:00:10 Mike Dream1:02:42 TMF vs TWS1:11:39 90’s styles1:14:38 Morning Breath Inc1:21:17 Qbert & Wave Twisters1:25:09 Music art & Grammys 1:31:54 Retiring from graffiti#graffiti #streetart #podcast #interview #documentary
