About this episode
"I come out of this with a sense of humor, and also some toxic skills. If there's anybody out there who kind of identifies here, these skills served you when you were young. So we don't want to shame those. Like, why am I this way? Why do I respond this way? Through the therapy I've been through, I would say you have to thank that part of you. For enabling you to survive. Because without my anger, I wouldn't have survived without the ability to fight. I think self-compassion is usually the answer for sustaining long-term change where you say, you know what, thank you for that." 00:00 Walking on Eggshells :The Illusion of Normalcy 04:14 Hank's Childhood: A Glimpse into Family Struggles 07:48 Coping Mechanisms and Survival Skills 25:22 Overcoming the Past: Becoming a Change Agent 31:53 Scriptural Insights on Generational Trauma 43:55 The Importance of Compassion 49:52 Understanding Personal Spiritual Evidence 01:00:33 Final Thoughts September 5th & 6th COME BACK TO CHRIST EVENT Tickets can be purchased at: https://www.comebackpodcast.org/come-back-to-christ-event-september-5-6-utah-valley-convention-center-provo-ut-3/ Come Back to Christ Event Sponsors: https://templeboundsaints.org/ https://www.dfcu.com/ https://www.latterdaymatchmaker.com/ https://www.matthewbraidleypianos.com/ https://mikesautoshack.com/ Memor Jewelry code COMEBACK for 10% off https://memorjewelry.com Serve Clothing code COMEBACK for 15% offhttps://serveclothing.com/ If you have a story to share please contact ashly.comebackpodcast@gmail.com For inquiries contact info.comebackpodcast@gmail.com Come Back Team: Director, Founder, & Host: Ashly Stone Editor: Cara Reed Outreach Manager: Jenna Carlson Assistant Editor: Michelle Berger Assistant Editor: Britt Smallze Art Director: Jeremy Garcia Production Director: Trent Wardwell
