The "butterfly effect" that led to Bailey's availability began with Andrew Luck becoming Stanford's GM and firing their head coach. This allowed Bailey to enter the transfer portal outside the normal window. Texas Tech acted quickly, leveraging their resources and evaluation process to pursue Bailey aggressively. He ultimately chose the Red Raiders over Texas and UCLA. We describe Bailey as a "force multiplier" - an elite edge rusher who will make the entire defense better. His presence will force offenses to adjust protection schemes and open up opportunities for other defenders. Along with Romello Height, Texas Tech now has two premium pass rushers. Looking ahead, we speculate that Texas Tech may still target additions at receiver, safety, and possibly tight end through the transfer portal.
