After a busy week for Ruben Amorim following Kobbie Mainoo’s brother protesting about the lack of playing time and/or opportunities to move away from the club and a defeat at Aston Villa, Rio is joined by Ste and Joel to dissect those points and the title race. Rio admits Kobbie is doing himself “a disservice” if he isn’t getting onto the manager asking how he can get into the team and discusses with Ste whether there is a way back for the England midfielder at Old Trafford. Morgan Rogers had two game defining “world class moments” and after one of the trio admit they don’t see what the fuss is all about, Rio breaks down the goals and analyses who and what should have done better. There’s some advice for (and a defence of) Leny Yoro, admission that some of the current squad “aren’t good enough” to cope with the defensive demands at Manchester United and a warning for Bukayo Saka who said that Arsenal were “in control” of the title race as they spend Christmas at the top of the table. Rio heads to Carrington for an unmissable sit-down with Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes — his most honest interview yet. For the first time, Bruno lifts the lid on the truth behind his Manchester United loyalty, revealing two genuine chances he had to leave, why he stayed, and how modern players’ loyalty is judged differently compared to legends like Francesco Totti, Ryan Giggs and Paolo Maldini. Bruno also breaks down the big tactical shift in his game this season — how playing deeper has changed his decision-making, the challenges for him and Kobbie Mainoo who play in that role what the manager demands from him in the No.8 position, and how Italian football influenced his game. He gives rare insight into United’s dressing room dynamics, analysing his teammates and explaining the incredible level of detail he computes on the pitch to ensure he delivers the perfect pass depending on which forward he’s feeding. Bruno also addresses Roy Keane’s criticism and how he really feels about it, the private conversations referees have had with him about body languag and discussions with managers Ruben Amorim and Erik Ten Hag about the level of pressure he puts on himself and how it sometimes negatively affects the team’s structure. And in classic Rio Meets style, Bruno opens up about the personalities behind the scenes — the biggest jokers in the squad, what really happens when someone steps out of line, and how he handles moments as captain that fans never get to see. Rio is joined by Joel and Ste after a visit to the Manchester United training ground where he teases the potential release of a Rio Meets episode with one of the players. After spending time with the squad, the manager and the coaching staff, Rio reports on what he saw and how positive the environment was. Ste challenges Rio after he disagreed with Amorim’s comments about younger players struggling and Rio reveals how players respond to pundits who return to their former club after they’ve criticised performances. There’s detailed analysis of Gyokeres’s struggles and Rio gives Joel three reasons why the Swedish striker is struggling to adapt since his move from Portugal and there’s special praise reserved for Morgan Rogers who fired Aston Villa into the title race. Whilst giving Rogers his flowers, Rio and Ste look at how the number 10 selection is shaping up for Thomas Tuchel and pick out the one player who could become the England manager’s “biggest headache”. Rio is back in the studio and joined by Joel Beya and Ste Howson where the trio reflect on Manchester United’s 4-1 victory at Wolves and the latest developments following Mohamed Salah’s outburst about his lack of playing time at Liverpool this season. After it was reported that manager Ruben Amorim left his players alone at half-time, Rio discusses the different tactics that managers use in order to effectively communicate their message and praises Mason Mount as United’s yard-stick for players performing in the current system. Rio also suggests Kobbie Mainoo should push for a move away in January in order to not “waste” any more of his career and contrasts the comments made by former United winger Alejandro Garnacho who says it was an easy decision to leave the club because he has the “trust” of his new gaffer, Enzo Maresca. After admitting that Mohamed Salah should have articulated himself in a better way, Rio launches a defence of the record-breaking winger and suggests that established players like Virgil Van Dijk and Andy Robertson could play a vital role in rehabilitating Salah back into the squad - comparing his conversations with Wayne Rooney who spoke out against the manager when Rio was a senior player at Man Utd. After Manchester United became the first team in 8 months to beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, Rio is joined by Ste Howson and Joel Beya to analyse that victory along with Arsenal’s draw at 10-man Chelsea. There’s detailed analysis on the personnel utilised in the wing-back roles after Ruben Amorim admitted that two of those players are currently playing “far from their best”. After Bruno Fernandes overtook Paul Scholes on the list of record Premier League assists, Rio admits that nobody could be expected to replace the output of the captain - even when he’s playing in a deeper role. Rio also compares the challenge for Joshua Zirkzee to the one that former team mate Diego Forlan faced and questioned whether the Dutchman has the self-belief to command a regular starting spot. Zirkzee may be given more opportunities during AFCON where Amad Diallo and Bryan Mbuemo will miss up to seven league matches during the most congested part of the season - something that worries Ste and Rio. They believe the depth of Amorim’s squad is not sufficient without further reinforcements. Joel is happy with Arsenal’s point at Stamford Bridge and Rio compares the mentality of the Arsenal players to that of his title-winning squads in terms of playing rivals away from home. After analysing Liverpool’s lat 30 matches, Rio is joined by Ste and Joel to discuss the level of pressure that manager Arne Slot is under. From when they lost to PSG in March, Liverpool have played 30, won 14, lost 13 and drawn 3. Rio (and Ste) believes that the scrutiny the Dutchman is under is significantly less than the pressure placed on Ruben Amorim when he was enduring a similar run of results. They also look at 3 key reasons behind Liverpool’s poor performances including Ibrahim Konate’s contract situation, the lack of consistency in selection and Virgil Van Dijk suggesting that the team weren’t good in “battles or the fight”. After going six points clear at the top of the Premier League following a 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur - there’s special praise for Trossard, Saka and , of course, Eze - who Rio believes could cause problems for club captain Martin Odegaard when he returns to fitness. Rio travels to Saudi Arabia for an unmissable Rio Meets with Sadio Mané — a rare, honest and emotional conversation showing a side of the Liverpool legend that fans have never seen before. Mané opens up about his relationship with Mo Salah, how their competitive edge sometimes boiled over, and the truth behind why he almost joined Manchester United before a call from Jürgen Klopp changed everything. From his early life in Senegal to sharing a dressing room with Cristiano Ronaldo at Al Nassr, Mané reflects on the mentality, humility and drive that have defined his career. He also credits the influence of Ralf Rangnick on his evolution into a world-class winger, his thoughts on England’s World Cup chances under Thomas Tuchel, and why he’d do something for Bobby Firmino that he wouldn’t for anyone else. After England blitzed their qualification to the World Cup, Rio analyses how Thomas Tuchel is building his squad and momentum ahead of the tournament. The conundrum around the embarrassment of riches in the number 10 position has been a problem that previous manager Gareth Southgate struggled to solve - so Rio lays out how he would set up the team and reserves special praise for captain Harry Kane. Referencing his time with England as a player, Rio praises Tuchel’s tactical clarity and admits that the so-called ‘Golden Generation’ would have appreciate how clearly the German is approaching his selection. Are Portugal better without Cristiano Ronaldo? That’s a question that Joel asks Rio who discusses how Roberto Martinez should deal with any potentially tricky narratives after Ronaldo looks set to miss the first two games of the tournament through suspension. Joel Beya and Stephen Howson join Rio to discuss draws for Manchester United and Arsenal and the big match between Manchester City and Liverpool. Before they discuss the game at the Etihad, Rio receives a voice-note from Usain Bolt who raises a few issues about Manchester United’s defending under Ruben Amorim - particularly during the draw at Tottenham. After dissecting those comments from Bolt, Rio reveals who he thinks the most important Man Utd players are right now and analyses the way that Matthijs De Ligt plays out from the back after Amorim urged him to show more confidence and play riskier passes. Jeremy Doku was an integral part of Man City’s demolition of Liverpool and Rio analyses why he’s been able to improve his game this season whilst comparing him to Nani in terms of wingers who show incredible talent but lack consistency in their game. And after Ste adopts some Mikel Arteta tactics around scoring from set pieces, the trio discuss the Wythenshawe Sunday League veterans team that includes Premier League striker Papiss Cisse, title winner Danny Drinkwater and tease a huge new signing they’re expecting to make. After Manchester United’s winning run comes to an end, Rio, Joel and Ste discuss all of the positives from the 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest including Amad Diallo’s attitude whilst playing in defence, Casemiro’s ability on the ball and how the front three are giving the defence a solid platform to build on. Rio acknowledges how important Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s interview about Amorim being judged only after “three years” could be in terms of facilitating the improved form and performances and why the left-side of the defence should be the manager’s next priority to improve. With Harry Kane, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe all in incredible form, Joel asks Rio to pick his favourite and Ste chooses who he would like to see most in an Man Utd shirt. There have been several suggestions that Viktor Gyokeres is only a “flat track bully” (because of his lack of goals vs “big” teams) but Rio analyses his performances and details why his ability and traits mean Arsenal have added another effective way of attacking opposition defences. After Virgil Van Dijk responded to what he described as “absolutely ridiculous takes” Rio admits he loves hearing a captain speak out on behalf of his team mates and also gives Trent Alexander-Arnold some advice about facing his former club as Liverpool welcome Real Madrid to Anfield in the Champions League. You’ll see a completely different side to Dimitar Berbatov who discuses the impact his father refusing to say, “I love you” had on him, along with a gang kindapping him when he was aged 18 in Bulgaria. Rio sits down with Joel after a third straight victory for Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United and pays special attention to the redemption of midfielder Casemiro. He addresses the “highly disrespectful” comments made about the Brazilian by Jamie Carragher and says that Kobbie Mainoo could learn a lot from the way Casemiro has forced his way back into the team - even with his stellar career and trophy cabinet. Scott McTominay is another example of a player who is playing with renewed confidence so Rio discusses a time where his confidence was negatively influenced by his manager and how that translated into matches and training. Danny Welbeck is currently England’s best striker behind Harry Kane - hear why Rio would put him on the plane for the World Cup in the summer after a Premier League season in which Rio predicts Arsenal will win the title - hear why he believes Mikel Arteta’s side has the advantage over Man City and Liverpool. Arne Slot has been questioned about his brutally honest comments about his Liverpool side’s ability to defend various tactics that opponents have implemented against them and says any excuses made are “poor”. Plus, to kick off a campaign with our partners Craftd that’s all about people ‘mastering their craft’ Rio and Joel discuss the player in the Premier League who has worked hard over the last 12 months for mastering theirs and pays credit to their diligence and professionalism. #ManUtd #Casemiro #JamieCarragher #KobbieMainoo #RubenAmorim #ScottMcTominay #DannyWelbeck #Arsenal #PremierLeague #TitleRace #ArneSlot #Craftd #RioFerdinand #FootballPodcast #WorldCup Subscribe: http://bit.ly/15QO9WE Rio Ferdinand Presents: rioferdinandpresents.com Rio Ferdinand Presents Instagram: https://instagram.com/rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents Twitter/X: https://x.com/RioMeets Rio Ferdinand Presents Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents Threads: https://www.threads.net/@rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Instagram: https://instagram.com/rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Twitter/X: https://x.com/rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RioFerdinandOfficial Rio Ferdinand TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Threads: https://www.threads.net/@rioferdy5 Subscribe: http://bit.ly/15QO9WE Rio Ferdinand Presents: rioferdinandpresents.com Rio Ferdinand Presents Instagram: https://instagram.com/rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents Twitter/X: https://x.com/RioMeets Rio Ferdinand Presents Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents Threads: https://www.threads.net/@rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Instagram: https://instagram.com/rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Twitter/X: https://x.com/rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RioFerdinandOfficial Rio Ferdinand TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Threads: https://www.threads.net/@rioferdy5 Hosted on Acast. Ste and Rio get together to bask in the glory of beating rivals Liverpool at Anfield. There’s analysis of specific tactics that Amorim employed to unsettle the Champions’ defence and Rio discusses why Mbuemo and Cunha cause Virgil Van Dijk so many problems. After scoring the winner, there’s special praise for Harry Maguire and also Casemiro for showing resilience and the mentality to regain their place in the team when it could have been easier to leave the club. Rio details the importance of new goalkeeper Senne Lammens and how his performances have stabilised the rest of the team. With an important match against Brighton next up, Rio questions whether the pragmatic, difficult-to-beat approach will be sustainable at Manchester United and Ste discusses whether the fans would allow that style of play to become more commonplace over the next few months as Amorim continues to develop the squad. Rio also suggests that Florian Wirtz will be questioning his summer transfer to Liverpool and details why Liverpool’s tactics are contributing to Alexander Isak’s early struggles. Hosted on Acast. The HMRC of football podcasts, Karel Prince, joins Ste and Joel to come face to face with Rio after several messages back and forth on social media. After creating several viral videos scrutinising anecdotes and stories from players about their careers on various podcasts - Karel wants to bring some more evidence to put to Mr. Ferdinand. It’s the first time that Karel is in the presence of a player he’s made a video about so you’ll learn about the forensic process, the reasons for calling people out and the fallout that happens after the videos get released, plus Rio’s reaction to some new charges brought against him. We’ve got the game’s best fact checker in position to hear the case for and against. Manchester United minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently suggested that Ruben Amorim will get three years to prove he is a good coach - so the guys discuss whether that's fair, analyse the comparison he made with Arteta and look at the positives of the owner making such a public stance. Plus, Rio has to pick a player to take a free-kick who has to score it, in order to save his life. The Liverpool and England legend is honest about what went wrong whilst managing Aston Villa and also analyses some of the recruitment decisions taken by the Liverpool hierarchy when he was there as a player which he says the club got “badly wrong”. Welcome to Rio Reacts! I'm here in my new studio, and with the transfer window in its final week, there's nowhere else I'd rather be. Today, we're diving into the absolute madness at Manchester United! TRANSFER CHAOS: Rasmus Hojlund: We break down the loan deal that has him on his way to Napoli. Is this the fresh start he needs, or a tough call for the club? Jadon Sancho: He's reportedly turned down a move to Roma, and I explain why I think it's all about the numbers and a major sticking point in the deal. The Goalkeeper Problem: I give my unfiltered opinion on the uncertainty around Onana and Bayindir, and why Man Utd is pushing for a signing like Senne Lammens. This whole situation just takes me back to the days of Schmeichel and Van der Sar... Midfield Flaw: I analyze why our midfield is the team's biggest weakness—we're lacking the physicality and legs to truly control games. Is Bruno being used too deep? RIO'S TACTICAL INSIGHTS: I'm calling for patience after just two games, but I also give my blueprint for success: a compact team, strong in the first 10 minutes, that can build on those positive spells. FAN Q&A: I open up my Instagram broadcast channel to hear your opinions! We get into some passionate debates on signing a new goalkeeper and a holding six. I also go on a rant about who was responsible for letting David De Gea leave the club! Don't forget to stay tuned! We have some great interviews dropping soon with Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen. #ManUtd #ManchesterUnited #MUFC #Transfers #Hojlund #Sancho #DeGea #RasmusHojlund #JadonSancho #TransferWindow #RioReacts #FootballAnalysis #Podcast #PremierLeague #ManUnited #Football Subscribe: http://bit.ly/15QO9WE Rio Ferdinand Presents: rioferdinandpresents.com Rio Ferdinand Presents Instagram: https://instagram.com/rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents Twitter/X: https://x.com/FIVEUK Rio Ferdinand Presents Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents Threads: https://www.threads.net/@rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Instagram: https://instagram.com/rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Twitter/X: https://x.com/rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RioFerdinandOfficial Rio Ferdinand TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Threads: https://www.threads.net/@rioferdy5 Hosted on Acast. Welcome! Today we're diving into the biggest transfer saga of the summer: the situation with Alexander Isak at Newcastle. The Newcastle asking price: Why revealing the number is the key to gaining fan sympathy. Is the club's valuation of £150m unrealistic, or are they deliberately pricing him out of a move? Transfer negotiations: An unfiltered take on player loyalty, and why forcing an issue is sometimes the only way to get a transfer done. A personal experience: Drawing on my own past experience at Leeds, I explain why I understand the player's position and what it takes to stand your ground. Rio, Joel and Ste get together ahead of Arsenal’s visit to Old Trafford for the first game of the season to discuss how they think their teams will fare this season. There’s discussion about how the signing of Gyokeres could put Arteta’s job under more scrutiny and Joel reveals what he feels the Spaniard needs to achieve this season in order to be considered successful. Rio and Ste analyse the improvements made to Manchester United’s forward line and compare the arrival of Benjamin Sesko to when Rasmus Hojlund joined the club. The stats of their seasons before arriving at Old Trafford are strikingly similar so the trio discuss why and how Sesko can enjoy a more fruitful time at the club. Ste has a left-field shout for a last-minute free signing - Rio’s not convinced but does compare one of Ruben Amorim's current players to a main-stay of the successful team from the Champions League winning era he enjoyed whilst playing for Sir Alex Ferguson. Harry Maguire sits down with Rio who admits he was a bit nervous about the interview before it started following comments he made about Maguire’s performances in a Manchester United shirt. Harry addresses these and the level of scrutiny that he has faced whilst at Old Trafford discussing them with Rio along with a number of other issues. Maguire reveals what it was like after Bruno Fernandes was given the captaincy by Erik Ten Hag last season and why he thinks he performed differently for England compared to playing for Manchester United. Rio is particularly invested in hearing how players in his position are asked to play so the pair dig into the demands on central defenders from manager Ruben Amorim and in today’s game in general. Maguire also describes how much he’s looking forward to this season after a ‘tough’ pre-season which he says has been great at bringing the players together and helping acclimatise to Ruben Amorim’s style of play. Rio and Joel reveal who is their favourite player to watch in the Premier League and Rio discusses the character and mentality of the 6 individuals chosen by manager Ruben Amorim to form his new leadership group at the club. #Arsenal #Gyokeres #Madueke #RubenAmorim #TransferWindow #FootballAnalysis #FIVE #RioFerdinand #JoelBeya #ManUtd #PremierLeague Subscribe: http://bit.ly/15QO9WE Rio Ferdinand Presents: rioferdinandpresents.com Rio Ferdinand Presents Instagram: https://instagram.com/rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents Twitter/X: https://x.com/FIVEUK Rio Ferdinand Presents Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Presents Threads: https://www.threads.net/@rioferdinandpresents Rio Ferdinand Instagram: https://instagram.com/rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Twitter/X: https://x.com/rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RioFerdinandOfficial Rio Ferdinand TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@rioferdy5 Rio Ferdinand Threads: https://www.threads.net/@rioferdy5 Hosted on Acast. Welcome to Rio Reacts! Today, we're diving headfirst into the transfer stories that are getting your WhatsApp groups buzzing, from Manchester United's evolving squad to Arsenal's incredible young talents! First up, the latest from Old Trafford: Bryan Mbeumo is IN, and Marcus Rashford is OUT to Barcelona! That leaves Amorim's 'bomb squad' of Garnacho, Antony, Sancho, and Malacia – could their exits be key to United's remaining transfer budget? Fabrizio Romano says outgoings are crucial for the striker budget after spending big on Cunha and Mbeumo. So, despite big names like Isak, Sesko, and Nicholas Jackson being floated, are United really on a low budget for a striker? We're looking at names like Ollie Watkins (17 goals, 14 assists in 54 apps last season at 29 years old) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (3 goals, 1 assist in 26 apps last season at 28 years old, and available on a free transfer!). Let me know what YOU think about the Man United striker situation! If the club ends up with a low budget, who should they be targeting? Could they still land a big-name striker if they sell all the players they want to move on? Away from United, I want to talk about Arsenal's incredible young talents! Remember Max Dowman? I first mentioned him as a 14-year-old last November. Now 15, he's become one of the youngest Arsenal players to feature for the first team in a pre-season friendly against AC Milan in Singapore! Declan Rice even described him as "the best 15-year-old in the country." Unbelievably, Marli Salmon, also 15, featured in that same game! Arteta himself commented that these young talents are "able to play at that level at 15 years old... because of the environment and culture within the team." Arsenal fans, what do you think? Could this be a really big year ahead for your young talents? Finally, big news for the channel! I'm off tomorrow on tour with the squad! Welcome back to the channel, everyone! The transfer window is absolutely WILD for Manchester United, with massive moves happening that could reshape the club's future! First up, the huge news: Marcus Rashford is heading to Barcelona on loan! Barca are set to pay his full £315,000-a-week wages, saving United a staggering £17 million. We dive deep into Rashford's 426 games, 138 goals, and 77 assists for United. What does Hansi Flick need to do to unlock the real Rashford? Does Marcus still have the hunger? Will he even get a game at Barca against Raphinha, Yamal, and Lewandowski? Can he reinvent himself in Spain in a way he couldn't at United? His comments about wanting to play with Yamal – is that already a sign of feeling inferior? What can Yamal learn from Rashford? Imagine an El Clásico head-to-head between Rashford and Trent Alexander-Arnold! Did Marcus do enough at United to earn this move, or is this his last real chance to reignite his career? We want to see that smile and the Marcus Rashford we all know again! If it goes well, what should the permanent fee be, considering Villa's £40m for someone else? Then, the latest on Jadon Sancho: His switch from Manchester United to Juventus is reportedly close to completion! Juventus are ready to meet United's £21.6m asking price for the England winger, who is set to sign a four-year contract worth £5.2m per year. And what about Alejandro Garnacho? There's no noise, no rumours – is he apologising and coming back into the fold, or is he done at the club? Finally, we wrap up with our thoughts on how the transfer window is going for United overall, and who should be their next key target.
