Today on the podcast is the youngest guest in the history of The Running Effect Podcast. His name is Erik Semling. He's in 8th grade and 13 years old from the state of Minnesota. As an 8th grader this past Fall, he placed 6th at his HIGH SCHOOL (yes, you read that right) State Meet. Erik has run 15:09 in the 5k, which is an unofficial age group world record, and 31:17 in the 10k, which is an official age group world record. Again, this kid is only 13. In 2022 he became the AAU Indoor 3000m National Champion and has only improved since then. In today's conversation, Erik takes me through his start in the sport, setting world records, an in-depth look at his training, his ambitions in sport, handling hate, and so much more!
