About this episode
The plaintiff says the defendant’s van caught fire one night, and his car was parked next to it. The plaintiff’s mirror was melted off from the intense heat. The defendant keeps saying he’ll pay to have it fixed, so the plaintiff is suing him for repair costs. The defendant has no idea how his van caught fire and doesn’t remember anyone parked next to him. There was no debris from any other cars from the street, so why is he responsible? The defendant says he is not paying for something he didn’t do. Then, the plaintiff says she loaned a former family member money, and no matter how hard she tries, she can’t get her to pay her back, so she’s suing for the $500 she says she’s owed. The defendant insists she sent money through her Zelle account and has no idea why she’s being sued. Plus, the plaintiff says she received a call from the defendant, her younger cousin, in a panic one night because she got arrested and needed bail money. Being the good cousin she is, the plaintiff loaned her cousin $600 for bail, but she hasn’t been paid back, so the plaintiff is suing for the unpaid loan. The defendant insists the bail money was a gift from her cousin. The defendant is countersuing for $5,000 after helping her cousin out with various tasks around the plaintiff’s house.
