This week's inflation data releases have been favourably received by financial markets. After the UK, the US also released inflation figures that indicate further progress towards disinflation, paving the way for potential interest rate cuts beginning in September. The extent of the first cut – whether it will be 0.25% or even 0.5% – will be determined by incoming data.
