This was recorded and edited by David shortly before his sudden passing. The Second World War was catastrophic for Ukraine: millions died in the fighting and occupations, the battles that crossed the country were brutal and grinding, the country’s Jews were exterminated in the ‘Holocaust of bullets’, and the eventual Soviet victory ensured decades of further domination and control from Moscow.
