Episodes of this podcast tend to hover around the ninety minute mark, maybe an hour forty-five. That seems to be the natural length for this kind of format, but sometimes they just acquire a life of their own and end up a fair bit longer and quite often those are my favourites. My conversation with the noted American DJ and producer Fred P this week is one of those longer ones, and it was one that found really rewarding. That's not an uncommon experience in recording these podcasts, but Fred is a genuinely thoughtful and insightful guy who is dedicated to his craft in a way that is really striking. We talk about his roots in New York City, the different approaches to owning and distributing your own music these days, and overcoming life's challenges to reach a place where you can express yourself fully.
