I’d like to thank you for listening, as always, and being the reason that I’m able to continue making this. You listening is the reason I make this, and you enjoying it, makes it completely worthwhile. The endless hours of producing, editing and writing, have come together in a season that I’m hugely proud of, and I hope you continue to enjoy it even more. Now, I’ve got something of a tradition on this podcast now – after 7 seasons, it's become a little thing that I challenge myself with. And that challenge is simple, every season should have a guest on that also happens to be a panellist on BBC Radio 4’s Gardener’s Question Time, and this season is no different. In this episode, I’m joined by head gardener at Horatio’s Garden in London, and GQT panellist, Ashley Edwards. Ashley has a wide-ranging background in horticulture – starting from a very young age, and in this episode we go right back to the beginning and end with the current day. So, grab yourself a drink or maybe pop your headphones in and head out into the garden and listen along with us now. Enjoy! If you’d like to see more from Ashley then you can follow him on Instagram where you’ll find him as @ plantsforwellbeing . You can also follow along with Horatio’s too, and you’ll be able to find them as @ horatiosgarden If we've whetted your appetite for growing, and you know that the appetite of your plants could do with some attention then do try Westland’s Growmore general purpose plant food! Growmore provides the three major plant nutrients in equal proportions. This makes it a superb general-purpose feed for use all around the garden. Its balance of nutrients ensures even stimulation of growth in all plant parts, meaning lots of fruit and flowers, abundant foliage as well as a strong root system. Now, when we use the word gardening, we all instantly think of the great outdoors and flowers and lawns but for this week’s conversation, we’re taking things indoors and into an indoor jungle to be precise! In my opinion, gardening is something you can do indoors or outdoors and houseplants are just indoor gardening! Once a houseplant killer, I am now confidently keeping all of mine alive and that is largely due to wonderful advice and help from an excellent houseplant expert. Jonny Balchandani, otherwise known as The Bearded Plantaholic, is one of the most entertaining, but also knowledgeable people that I know and if you’ve not seen him before then you’re in for a huge treat! In this episode, we talk about how his jungle began, where it began and a huge thing that hes got coming up that you’re not going to want to miss! And, I will warn you – this episode does contain a considerable amount of spicy language and swearing… If you’d like to see more from Jonny, then you should head over to Instagram and follow him now, where you can find him as @ thebeardedplantaholic ! Jonny is going is charting his new houseplant exploits with the huge lorry container, over on his YouTube channel too, where you can find him once again as The Bearded Plantaholic . If listening to Jonny has given you the push you needed to get stuck in with houseplants too or if you just want to give your existing collection a boost then do try some of Westland’s Houseplant Care range. Great gardening starts with great compost, and Westland has a trusted range of composts for your every gardening need, from giving your baskets and containers the best start in life filling your vegetable patch with nutrients ahead of a bountiful season. In the first episode of this new season, I wanted to invite someone that I’ve known for a while now, through social media and someone who is going to absolutely help you grow the best tomatoes you’ve ever grown in your life. I’ve dabbled, sometimes good, and sometimes bad, but one thing is for sure, home-grown tomatoes are far superior to any you’ll eat from a shop and Niall Radford has become a master at the art of the perfect tom! From a simple beginning with one particular unique variety, more on that later, to now growing over 150 tomato plants of his own this year – it’s fair to say that Niall knows what he’s talking about and in this episode he shares his exact method for growing, including when to sow, how to sow, and what to do next! This is one you’re going to want to listen to, and maybe even make a few notes on too. Enjoy! If you’d like to see more of Niall’s interesting toms, including his growing setup and much more, then do follow him on Instagram where you’ll find him as @ niallradford . As mentioned in the conversation, Niall also sells seeds of the best tomatoes available, directly from his own fruits, and you’ll find all the details of that at nrtomatoseed.com 💚Also, to get the best yield you’ll ever have from your tomatoes, get them growing in Westland’s Big Tom Peat Free Tomato Planters and better still, make sure to feed them with Big Tom Super Tomato Food too! Rich in Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium to promote strong growth, deep roots and flowers that will give you even better tomato fruits! Big Tom will give you 3 x more, 3 x bigger and 3 x tastier tomatoes, vs unfed tomato plants! 💚 💻 My Website: Visit Here ☕ Join my Patreon: Click Here 📩 Email Me: Here!

Keith Weed - President of the RHS Hello and welcome! Well, here we are at the last episode of season 5 of the podcast and I thought we’d go out with a bit of a bang! In this week’s episode I’m joined by someone with the most apt name possible for the role that they undertake. You’ll no doubt be familiar with the Royal Horticultural Society, the work they do and the gardens that they keep and this week I’m talking to their President, Keith Weed. Keith talks to me about his passion for horticulture, his own personal garden and all of his other many exciting interests. And, he might just reveal his favourite RHS garden, although that is a little like choosing your favourite child! If you’d like to find out more about the RHS then you can visit rhs.org.uk . And don't forget, you can follow along with Keith on social media where you'll find him on Instagram @ keithweed and also on Twitter/X where he's also as @ keithweed . Gosh, so we’ve arrived at the end of another monumental season of the podcast, with wonderful guests, conversations and insights into the minds and thoughts of some of gardening’s most well known and lesser well known characters and faces. Over 5 seasons we’ve delved deep into their inspirations for what they do, no matter their role. Designers, gardeners, writers, presenters, social media sensations, houseplant aficionados and more – all with a common passion for one thing, plants. I’m thrilled to say that plans are already afoot for season 6 and I’ll be back in the new year with that and much more. As always, thank you for listening, subscribing, reviewing and supporting this podcast and helping it become a chart topping success. Without you, the listeners, this is nothing – and thankfully, because of you – this is very much something . 💜 This episode is sponsored by Plant Grow, producers of award winning organic fertilisers made with zero chemicals.
