About this episode
We’re coming up on the 50th anniversary of one of the best-selling albums ever - The Who’s classic 1973 album Quadrophenia . Returning to the podcast to talk about the album and his brand new book titled The Who & Quadrophenia is veteran rock journalist Martin Popoff. Martin leaves no stone unturned in this book, which is beautifully packaged with stunning photography and rare memorabilia. He takes apart the 17 tracks on the album and their themes of identity, anxiety, and mental health, along with the recording sessions at the famed Olympic Studios and the band’s own Battersea location. He also gets into the 1979 motion picture based on the album, the tours that supported the album and the Who’s post-Quadrophenia albums and tours.
