About this episode
EPISODE 82 - Clark, Hyung, and John look ahead briefly and give their opinion on the new design of the 2023 Topps Baseball set ( see the design here ) as well as discuss what they think about the high price tag of the upcoming 2022 Topps Chrome Baseball hobby boxes (this episode was recorded before Topps addressed that the planned bonus short print parallels of five rookie subjects were incorrectly not included in the collation of the hobby boxes.) Moving on to this week's Hobby Headlines segment, the guys go over some recent sports headlines involving some athletes and discuss whether they think it will have any impact on their card values. The headlines discussed include Albert Pujols chasing 700 home runs; Aaron Judge breaking Roger Maris' 61 home runs in a single season record; Mike Trout hitting home runs in seven consecutive games; Serena Williams retiring at the U.S. Open; Karl Anthony Towns brimming with confidence declaring he's one of the best offensive players to have played the game. Then they play Overrated/Underrated with the theme focused on parallels and refractors including: Tiger Stripe Prizms, Tie-Dye Parallels, Cracked Ice Parallels, and Printing Plates. Finally, Clark, Hyung and John end the episode with "Pick One" where they name two cards or sets, and then debate which one they would rather invest in. The pairs chosen this week include: Shohei Ohtani 2018 Topps #700 Rookie Card Image vs. Shohei Ohtani 2018 Topps Update #US1 Rookie Card Image; Luka Doncic 2018 Blue Prizm /199 Rookie Card (PSA 9) vs. a Luka Doncic Flawless non rookie year patch autograph card; Justin Herbert Light Blue 2020 Prizm Rookie Card vs. Justin Herbert Silver 2020 Prizm Rookie Card. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- CONNECT WITH US!
