She articled and practiced in the litigation department of a large full-service law firm in Winnipeg for 5 years. In 2008, Allison moved to Toronto to pursue a Masters’ degree in Environmental Law and Policy from the University of Toronto. Her Masters’ thesis: “Freshwater, Law, and Game Theory: Strategies for Navigating the Troubled Waters of a Canada / U.S. Bulk Water Export Conflict” was published in the peer-reviewed Queen’s Law Journal in 2010. After completing her Masters’ degree, Allison was called to the Bar of Ontario in 2009 and spent a year at a leading national law firm in Toronto. She returned to Winnipeg in 2011, and spent the next nine years as a Crown counsel arguing Charter motions and other constitutional legal issues before every level of court in Manitoba, and the Canada Labour Board. Allison joined the Justice Centre in 2020, and is excited to advocate for justice and the protection of personal rights and freedoms. She is most passionate about parental rights and believes that everyone is autonomous and deserving of liberty and independence in inherently personal matters.
