First Awakening: The Irreversible Step of Sotāpanna | Ajahn Suchart Q&A

In this interview, Ajahn Kovilo and Ajahn Nisabho interview Tan Ajahn Suchart Abhijāto about the Sotāpanna, or Stream Entry, the first stage of Enlightenment. They delve into how one knows such an experience is real, the fetters released through the experience, and the route of practice which most quickly leads to such insight. Tan Ajahn Suchart's biography: Tan Ajahn Suchart Abhijāto was born in Thailand in 1947 and received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering from California State University before returning to Thailand to manage a small business in Pattaya. Receiving a copy of a Dharma Book from Sri Lanka from a tourist, he realized the importance of meditation and wrote to the BPS requesting more. He received from them a copy of the Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta ( https://noblepath.info/PDFs/Nyanasatt... he then chanted and practiced diligently. Leaving his job in 1974 to meditate full time, he was ordained at Wat Bowon by Somdet Yan himself in 1975 thanks to the help of Bhikkhu Khantipalo before traveling to Wat Pa Baan Taad where he would train under Luangta Maha Bua ( https://buddhistuniversity.net/author... the next nine years.
