About this episode
Everyone in your family, including dogs, has to have rules and boundaries in the house. You should start teaching the puppy rules and boundaries as soon as you bring them home. Giving a puppy too much freedom and the ability to do anything it wants, is a recipe for disaster. Setting Rules Rules refer to what a puppy is and isn’t allowed to do. Here are some examples: No jumping on furniture when not invited No pulling on the leash when walking No jumping on guests when they are greeted No “zoomies” in the house (outside in the yard is OK) Setting Boundaries Boundaries control where a dog can and can’t go, claiming territory, and teaching your puppy what is and isn’t theirs. Here are some examples: Not allowed in certain rooms of the house Sit and wait to go out the door Sit and wait for their food Go to bed, or place, when family is eating (instead of begging) Visit the shows website at http://puppytalkpodcast.com Purchase "The Business of Dog Training" on Amazon RESOURCES: Podcast Website: http://puppytalkpodcast.com Sponsor Website: http://www.topgundogtraining.com Dale's books: https://www.amazon.com/author/dalebuchanan Top Gun Dog Training in Huntsville, Alabama.
