On this show, the other Dr. Jessica Turner is our guest. Veterinarian, Dr. Jessica Turner, worked for years first as an emergency vet and then as a GP. After years of balancing a career and mom life, she experienced burnout and was later diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic (long-lasting) autoimmune disease that mostly affects joints. RA occurs when the immune system, which normally helps protect the body from infection and disease, attacks its own tissues. The disease causes pain, swelling, stiffness, and loss of function in joints. When faced with the possibly of long term steroid treatment and potentially ending up in a wheel chair, Dr. Jessica turned to holistic medicine to find answers. Now she's on the road to recovery and has become a passionate advocate for holistic medicine.
