We’re your hosts, Esther Newman and Holly Taylor, and usually you can find us chatting about life and running – though, let’s be honest, it’s mostly the life bit. Every year we get terribly overexcited for the Great British Bake Off and discuss it at length on the pod. So here we are, turning it into its own spin off so we can dissect each episode properly. We’ll be chatting about all the highs and lows from the Bake Off tent, playing total favourites and slagging off bakes we could never dream of producing ourselves. Signature: Sausage rolls Our dark horse baker gets the infamous handshake treatment while we discuss what can be considered an acceptable sweet-and-savoury flavour combo. Esther is once again extremely perturbed by Dan’s creative choices. Technical: Chocolate caterpillar cakes Unsurprisingly, we have an absolutely field day with this one. Holly quizzes Esther on the names of various supermarket caterpillar characters and we decide which celebrity lookalikes fit the baker’s white chocolate face designs. Showstopper: Anything-but-beige buffet We have some serious allegations about the patriarchal constructs of the Bake Off Cinematic Universe here. Plus, we demand justice for this week’s dearly departed baker and question the judges’ decisions around Star Baker. Join us!
