The school system in the United States is broken. There is no debate about this, but where questions arise is whether or not that is accidental or by design? Compulsory schooling has only really been around for about a century and a half, and it was pushed into existence by the Robber barons as a way of preparing the masses for a lifetime of working inside one of their many factories.
