Fern Mallis steps Behind The Rope. Fashion Industry Titan, The Godmother of Fashion, Best Selling Author, Trailblazer, Someone who has worked in every aspect of the Fashion Business, Fern Mallis! After a brief chat with this Brooklyn native about her early career in various aspects of Fashion, including her tenure as Executive Director at the CFDA, Fern describes how she came up with and executed 7th on Sixth Productions or, as it is commonly referred to today, the Iconic, Cannot Live Without, Would Die to Attend, spun off in many other cities and countries, New York Fashion Week. Fern discuses what Fashion was like back in the day and how she reinvented herself into one of the top interviewers in Fashion History with her Iconic talks at the 92nd Street Y. These talks are now part of her second installment of books, "Fashion Icons 2” in which Fern chats about some of her recent interviews - Christian Siriano, Victoria Beckham, Tim Gunn and Bob Mackie, to name a few. Of course we chatted with Fern about the many Reality TV Programs she was a part of - Project Runway, America’s Next Top Model, Bravo’s The Fashion Show - discussing what each of those experiences was like, many of her well known co-stars and whether Fashion Competition Shows work (no pun intended Tim Gunn).
